Sorry TK it was uncalled for. Just a response substituting for anger.

duncan_idaho 09-11-2001 09:21 AM

Gaz,

We need to get them... but we have to get cooperation from the country they're hiding in, if it's someplace like Tibet, etc.

If it's Libya, bomb the sh*t out of, kill them all, I don't care. But if it's Tibet, the Chinese had better be willing to cooperate, or we could have another world war on our hands. And somehow, I think that would make the ba$tards responsible for these attacks extremely happy.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:21 AM

That's OK.....just scared...don't worry...;)

Baby Lee 09-11-2001 09:22 AM

With a capacity of 25-40 K in each building, the potential exists to surpass the American KIA numbers of the entire Vietnam War [approx 50K] in the space of 20 minutes.

wutamess 09-11-2001 09:23 AM

Any new updates on radio or T.V. that the web can't provide.

CNN is totaly crashed as well as other sites.
Washingtonpost.com is steady and reliable at the moment.

WisChief 09-11-2001 09:26 AM

From what I understand - a typical day in the WTC would include 9-10k employees and up to 5k visitors at 9 - 10 am....

StLouisBob 09-11-2001 09:27 AM

For the past 20 years we have allowed all of these Towel Heads Sand Balsters in our country. They have been able to prepare themselves for years. This is our own fault for allowing this to happen.

Guess there will be no more left wing military cuts.

Phobia 09-11-2001 09:28 AM

Well, imagine how many civil service employees were around the WTC when it collapsed. This is so shocking, I'd nearly volunteer for the USMC again even though I was ecstatic when my enlistment was concluded.

nmt1 09-11-2001 09:28 AM

Too shocked for words.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:28 AM

another bombing just happened.....another flight just crashed in Pittsburg.....3 flights so far

Phobia 09-11-2001 09:29 AM

Pittsburg was quite some time ago. Is this ANOTHER plane, Kat?

StLouisBob 09-11-2001 09:29 AM

WisChief there are 25k in each building.

alanm 09-11-2001 09:30 AM

Can't be they've grounded all planes in the US for almost 2 hrs now.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:31 AM

Just named all 3 flights and annouced another bombing.....also found one in a high school a few minutes ago

WisChief 09-11-2001 09:31 AM

StLouis - yes, I know - but typically at 9 am (time of the attack) not all 45-50k people are there yet. Let's hope this is the case...

NaptownChief 09-11-2001 09:31 AM

This will go down in history as the most tragic day. This will unfortunately be more tragic than Pearl Harbor.

alanm 09-11-2001 09:32 AM

Newt Gringrich is calling this a act of War. And is calling for a response.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:33 AM

It is already worse than Pearl Harbor.....they mentioned that.

soliday 09-11-2001 09:33 AM

TommyKat,

Where are you getting your reports?

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:34 AM

Unfortunely......it is going to be war.....WE ALL SHOULD BE PRAYING RIGHT NOW~

Lightning Rod 09-11-2001 09:34 AM

I hope these bastards realize that much like the attack on Pear Harbor they have awakened a sleeping giant. No response is brutal enough. No matter how long it takes. No matter how much it costs. Scorched Earth no mercy policy.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:35 AM

soliday,
On NBC....total coverage with Tom Brok.....

NaptownChief 09-11-2001 09:35 AM

It absolutely should be...Allowing those Muslims to hide in other countries and say that we can't attack them cause they have no political or country affiliations is bull $hit...If you allow scum like that to reside in your country then you should be held accountable.

duncan_idaho 09-11-2001 09:35 AM

While all indications point to Islamic terrorists being behind this, we can't blame all Middle Eastern US residents for this...

MOst likely, these attacks were planned and carried out by persons in our country illegally...

Once again, this is what happens when people are uneducated, and in a fundamentalist religion... they will believe whatever their leader tells them... so when they are told that America is Satan and that Allah will reward them for killing Americans, they do it...

I just hope they're based in Palestine... then we can get support and intelligence from Israel in kicking these ba$tards off the face of the earth.

Lzen 09-11-2001 09:36 AM

Man this sucks. I'm at work with no radio or tv. I want to know what's happening. At least I'm getting reports from you guys, although some are contradicting or just rumors. I don't even want to be here. This is so shocking. I want to see some retaliation on these freakin' terrorist cowards.

Bwana 09-11-2001 09:38 AM

Damn! We need to find out who did this. (I'm sure Bin was behind it) The country harboring this bastard should be put on notice, either give him up or prepare to glow in the dark!

~Bwana would love to get this bastard in is crosshairs and add him to the wall~

wutamess 09-11-2001 09:39 AM

Tommy Kat.
2 planes...
one from Dallas and one from Boston struck the WTC>

1 plane hit the Pentagon launch pad.

1 plane down close to Pittsburgh airport.

What's this concerning the bomobing by Brokaw?
Any other news?
What high school and where?

Lzen 09-11-2001 09:40 AM

duncan,
You're right. Don't everyone go doing anything to your fellow workers or neighbors who are of middle easter descent. As angry as we all are right now, it still wouldn't be right to go after innocent people. I still don't understand how a religion can teach that it's okay to kill innocent people. They're just disgusting excuses for human beings and complete cowards.

Baby Lee 09-11-2001 09:40 AM

If they are in the Palestinian territories, we're going to have a mess on our hands. Though I'm still of the "turn 'em to dust" mindset, we must be mindful that we have used every resource at our disposal to enforce restraint by Isreal in the face of daily, weekly, monthly savage attacks eminating from the Palestinian territory.

dollar1 09-11-2001 09:40 AM

Too surreal...

I just finished reading the latest Clive Clusser book. Terrorist were trying to blow up Manhattan/World Trade Center with a ship carrying propane up river to the docks. When reading this fantasy, I thought that it could never happen.

RIGHT

It still hasn't hit yet...

It's empty between my ears...hollow...dream-like

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:41 AM

Coverage is Tom Brokaw Katie Curic and Matt L
High shcool bomb found is in NY.

sorry typing to fast and not getting it all out right

The Rick 09-11-2001 09:41 AM

I just recently moved to Milwaukee from Missouri and thought I'd pass along that I've heard that at least one building (Firstar building) in this city has been evacuated.

Have you guys also heard that there's still a plane "missing"?

Lzen 09-11-2001 09:43 AM

Adding to what someone said earlier about blood donations, I have received information that there is likely a national appeal for blood donation.

dollar1 09-11-2001 09:43 AM

Brokaw is thinking that the debris falling down have been starting fires and causing explosions...not necessarily bombs.

duncan_idaho 09-11-2001 09:44 AM

Now we know how the Israelis have felt for so long...

Islam itself is not the problem... although Mohammed did hate the Jews.

The problem is the uneducated Middle Easterners, and the people in power over them.

They tell them that Islam says we're Satan.

They believe it.

They tell them that Allah will reward them for killing Americans.

They believe it.

It's sad how the Middle Ages are still going on in these countrys... it does prove that any faith can be manipulated and used for bad purposes, not just Christianity.

Iowanian 09-11-2001 09:44 AM

I just heard a report on the radio that the Palestineans are CELEBRATING IN THE STREETS.....having a "day of celebration and handing out sweets to children in the streets"...

Even if these fuggers didn't directly do it......this alone deserves a 5Killoton gallon drum of whoopass dropped into that neighborhood.

BigOlChiefsfan 09-11-2001 09:44 AM

At least one of my old buddies worked at the WTC, sometimes 2 of 'em work there. Mark called last night, left a message saying to get in touch with him today.

Am I bumming? Yeah. And I'm here to say that if anyone thinks we lack the 'will', they're pi$$ing on the wrong fire. The Sleeping Giant woke up, once he stops crying over the loss of life, he's gonna be mad. Remember, we're the same guys who nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Vae Victis

I'm willing to wait until we know who we're mad at, but let's assume it was Salami Ben Dover, and make plans accordingly. Last known address? Afghanistan. Any reason NOT to nuke Afghanistan if they won't give up this ignorant mofo beotch? None I can think of. Just leave it a glassy a$$ mountain range with a few lonesome goats who miss their boyfriends. If it turns out that it's Palestine we're mad at, I'm down with leaving a different batch of goats writing to Miss Lonely Hearts, and dam the consequences.

Will? We lack Will? Just gimme the ball.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:44 AM

I heard a plane was missing.....but thought they found 3 is there more missing?

Just heard that the Palestines are celebrating this.....OMG

wutamess 09-11-2001 09:44 AM

The federal building has been evacuated.
In Kansas City.

alanm 09-11-2001 09:45 AM

American Airlines confirms 2 planes hijacked 164 dead.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:47 AM

The Arch in St. Louis is closed as all the fed buildings in KC and St. Louis.....I would say all should be closed shortly.

duncan_idaho 09-11-2001 09:48 AM

I think this will prove to the rest of the world that violent Islamic fundamentalists cannot be dealt with peacefully...
let Israel blast the $hit out of them... I'm sure everybody will be ok with it now.

Shawn...

Saddened by the total lack of independant thinking by people in Islamic countries...

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:48 AM

Was 4 planes.......found them all.....just now said

Phobia 09-11-2001 09:49 AM

Most of the Energy Companies in Houston have closed. The Houston & area school districts have close.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:50 AM

they are closing all federal buildings in the 4 state area around here....Ark. Ok..St. Louis.....KC......

Rain Man 09-11-2001 09:50 AM

Bigolchiefsfan's statement about waking a sleeping giant was exactly my thought. The fatal flaw of terrorism as a strategy is that, whether it's London in 1940 or Israel any time in the past fifty years or New York today, terroristic acts galvanize one's enemy instead of its intended effect. Is there anyone here today who doesn't want to sow salt into the earth of whoever's responsible for this?

wutamess 09-11-2001 09:50 AM

Just heard that plane that crashed near Camp david was shot down by an F-16 headed towards the Pentagon

HC_Chief 09-11-2001 09:51 AM

This is an ACT OF WAR.

Whoever did this is in DEEP sh*t now.

If it was the Taliban government in Afghanistan(most likely culprit), get ready for Gulf War II. Those people thought they had it rough when the USSR rolled into town; they ain't seen nothing yet.

We must take our time - make sure we know who did this. We cannot start indiscriminantly attacking possible culprits. We must do this by the book: identify, declare war, destroy.

BigOlChiefsfan 09-11-2001 09:51 AM

Tell me that the Palestinians are NOT dancing in the streets, acting happy about dead Americans.

They just THINK they've had problems so far, they don't have a clue what trouble really is.

HC_Chief 09-11-2001 09:52 AM

The chains are off.

Israel just got a free pass to take back ALL of the land they've been forced to concede.

NaptownChief 09-11-2001 09:54 AM

The American hate for Russians in the 80's is going to look like kids play to the hate that American's will have for the Rag Heads over the next couple of decades...

BowtieGuy 09-11-2001 09:54 AM

Fox new reporting that 8 planes were hijacked and three have hit targets. Five more still unaccounted for...

Rain Man 09-11-2001 09:54 AM

Actually, HC Chief, I had a parallel and somewhat opposite thought. Cap Weinberger was saying that a bunch of groups will step forward and claim responsibility for this and that we need to identify the actual group and then take them out.

My thought is, why? Anyone who claims responsibility for this, rightfully or not, should be put on our "to do" list, and we should just take them out one by one. It's time to call the exterminator.

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:55 AM

Israel may get their land back.....but NOT starting anything but this is Biblical and is not looking good.....

DaWolf 09-11-2001 09:56 AM

*sigh* Looks like once again it's going to get ugly aroud the country for people of middle eastern decent, like myself, because of the horrific actions of some ignorant people who don't understand the word "Islam" but claim to follow it.

Today has been an absolutely horrific day. Those bastards who did this will burn in hell...

NaptownChief 09-11-2001 09:57 AM

I agree...If you claim that you did this and you really didn't then that makes you just as guilty in my book...Kill'em all and let Allah sort them out...

tommykat 09-11-2001 09:57 AM

They are just showing the dancing and happiness in Palestine...

HC_Chief 09-11-2001 09:58 AM

I would agree - but it can be used against us as well.

If we kill a whole lot of people trying to get at some pissant group that wasn't responsible - only rumored/reported to be, it scores martyr points for their cause.

We must be level-headed. Make a clear determination, then attack with absolute force.

Gaz 09-11-2001 09:59 AM

This is just sad...

duncan_idaho-

That is my point when I say we lack the will to draw that line.

If we want to make sure this does not happen again, we must make the price so high that no one in the world will harbor or protect terrorists. If the country will not cooperate, they become the enemy. If that means slugging it out with China, so be it.

I expect the powers that be to decide that the economic cost of this solution is too high.

xoxo~
Gaz
Thinks this will continue for a while.

duncan_idaho 09-11-2001 10:00 AM

While this is a terrible tragedy... I beg everyone to not blame "rag-heads"... that was my initial thought too when I heard about this...

But not all Muslims, not even all Middle Easterners are practicing Muslims, are this crazed... it is mostly just the ones still living in the Middle East... because they are uneducated, they are easily manipulated. Kind of like the whole Crusade thing in the Middle Ages.

But this doesn't mean I think they should get off... hunt them down, and kill them. I have the utmost confidence that our current administration has the cocunuts to do this.

Kill them. They are cowards, and they deserve to die.

BowtieGuy 09-11-2001 10:00 AM

DaWolf,

I'm so mad I can't see straight, but I can still see straight enough to fined the enemy and waste him and I'm sane enough not to blame everyone of middle eastern decent.

However, I hope the rest of America feels the same. You have my prayers for your safty and your family. I know you feel this just like we do.

Clint in Wichita 09-11-2001 10:00 AM

Bush had better make the speech of his life today. This can't be swept under a rug or be allowed to "die down" on its own.

My dad said that when Pearl Harbor was attacked, everyone KNEW we were going to war. He and his 2 brothers actually enlisted voluntarily so he could pick his branch.

It pisses me off that I don't have that same feeling now. I can envision the USA doing almost nothing at all.

tommykat 09-11-2001 10:01 AM

Gaz,
If we slug it out with China NO ONE wins. They have the biggest army of any country!

Rain Man 09-11-2001 10:01 AM

Yeah, you're in for some anti-social behavior if you're middle eastern, Wolf. It's too bad that that stuff is going to happen, but I'm not idealistic enough to claim that it won't. Hopefully, everyone will be civilized enough to quickly put the blame where it belongs, and not on innocent Americans who happen to be from that part of the world.

duncan_idaho 09-11-2001 10:03 AM

Da Wolf,

I hear you and understand. I'm sorry, but life will be rough for you for a long time. My condolences... hang in there, not all of us hate you just because you are of Middle Eastern descent.

Gaz 09-11-2001 10:03 AM

China, Afganistan, Canada...

tommykat-

As I said, we lack the will to stop terrorism.

xoxo~
Gaz
Resting his case.

DaWolf 09-11-2001 10:04 AM

I agree, hunt them down, tie them to a stake, and burn them alive. But I don't think the sentiment that we need to "nuke em all" is going to solve anything. If you take the attitude that you want to kill a bunch of innocents in the process just to prove a point, then it's no better than what they did...

BowtieGuy 09-11-2001 10:05 AM

I'm with Gaz.

Tommycat,

I was always below average in size through school. For a time I took the punishment from those bigger than me. But there came a time when I had to decide to stand up for myself. I you continue to cower before the bully, the bully will aways win. I chose the take the chance, poor poor bullys, they found out the hard way. So will China, if the USA has the guts.

Iowanian 09-11-2001 10:05 AM

Clint,

If it were a "nation" or is found to be....I can guarantee that myself and my brothers would enlist without hesitation.

My grand dad said the same thing.....6 of his brothers enlisted in the Army; he was a medic(couldn't be a soldier due to childhood polio).

~napalm production activated....double time....let these fuggers burn a little to get a taste of hell.

King_Chief_Fan 09-11-2001 10:06 AM

Tommy Kat-
You are right on about this being Biblical. Before going to war, people should go to their knees first.

BigOlChiefsfan 09-11-2001 10:07 AM

Gaz,
You may have been right yesterday. This is today. As of right now, I can dump flaming napalm on anyone dancing in the street to celebrate my pal being blown up and then toast marshmallows over the coals.

Phobia 09-11-2001 10:07 AM

Let's be clear. Hunting down the terrorists and making them pay the ultimate sacrifice IS capital punishment. I HATE to use this horrible tragedy to clarify that, but it is FACT. Has anybody changed their mind regarding capital punishment yet?

NaptownChief 09-11-2001 10:08 AM

Wolf,

I understand your point but sometimes just like when you treat cancer, you have to take several steps backward to move forward...

A statement has to be made that is SO strong that any and all countries that have any knowledge of such terroristic people and groups that they proactively address it so that this type of tragedy won't happen again. The only thing that will bring them to that level is extreme fear of the punishment for not complying.

HC_Chief 09-11-2001 10:08 AM

This is WAR.

NaptownChief 09-11-2001 10:11 AM

It is sad that it took an event such as this for me to realize losing to the Raiders is completely meaningless in the game of life...A real wake up call for jl80

Gaz 09-11-2001 10:11 AM

We need a strong disincentive...

In a free and open society, you cannot prevent this kind of thing. The only way for a free society to discourage terrorism is to make the retribution so overwhelming that terrorists are not willing to pay the cost.

If you are going to back down if the trail leads to China or Russia or a multi-billionaire, you might as well save the rhetoric and just hunker down.

Let me be clear: I do not want war with China or Afghanistan or Yemen or any other country in the world. But I realize that if you are not willing to go to war with any and all countries harboring terrorists, you are impotent and should save your resources for rebuilding and burials.

This is where we will fall short, IMO. We are not willing to make enemies of the entire world if that is what it takes to keep our people safe.

xoxo~
Gaz
Expecting vows of retribution and howls for justice, but very little real action.

DaWolf 09-11-2001 10:12 AM

Duncan and the rest,
Hey, I understand how it is. My family moved here from Iran in 1979. We were ironically forced to move out of the country because our religion was not Islam, so the "fundamentalists" who had started taking power were persecuting us more, throwing us in jail for no reason, etc. So we were forced to leave the country otherwise we may not be alive today. Of course we get here, and it was right about the time they took the American hostages in the embassy, so damn if I didn't get a lot of crap growing up in KC those first few years. Then we had the Saddam Hussein pull off his buffonery, and we got crap from people even though we're not Arabs and had nothing to do with Iraq. I'm walking down a street for example, and this guy walks up and points his finger at me like it's a gun, and goes "bam" like he's going to come back and shoot me. Great.

So I'm used to it. It is sad, but I'm used to it. Hopefully some idiot doesn't decide to go out there and gun us down, trying to "clean up his country of all the terrorists."

Bob Dole 09-11-2001 10:13 AM

Bob Dole is fairly convinced that we'll find no country to blame for this act of cowardice. That's what leaves one feeling so impotent about the whole situation.

Bob Dole is with the folks that say whoever harbors these b@stards becomes the enemy, and in Bob Dole's world, they've got about 2 hours to give them up before they're smitten.

The sad part is, as soon as the shock wears off, we're going to have factions among us arguing amongst themselves about how to proceed. Bob Dole is going to attempt to stay out of it.

Clint in Wichita 09-11-2001 10:15 AM

I think that even China and Russia will fully understand if we do retailiate against one of their "allies", if they are found to be responsible for this.

As far as those celebrating Palestinians, I'd treat them as I would someone who laughs in my face after one of my loved ones is murdered.
