Attendance? how empty was it?

I have the flu and slept most of the game, but saw the last 5 minutes and it looked really empty.

I know it was dog azz cold

but what was the estimated high number in attendance?

MikeMaslowski 12-21-2008 03:45 PM

1 more carl peterson than there will ever be again.... the only important number

Dave Lane 12-21-2008 03:46 PM

17 not thousand, 17 :)

Sandyskc 12-21-2008 04:13 PM

There were 5 of us in my section

Agent V 12-21-2008 04:14 PM

Pretty sure I saw a couple of people walk in and check it out.

blueballs 12-21-2008 04:15 PM

Bearcat 12-21-2008 04:41 PM

What's the capacity of the lower bowl, 30-35,000? I'd guess you could have fit everyone in the lower bowl, and there may have only been 25,000 left after halftime.

The sun was in our face the entire game and we were in the lower bowl, so I didn't think it was that bad... outside of the stadium sucked because of the wind, but we stayed for the whole game.

007 12-21-2008 05:23 PM

I was impressed with the turnout considering our record and the cold. It was a good showing by the fans.
even though I hated the outcome, it was a fun game to attend.

Did you meet anybody?

007 12-21-2008 05:24 PM

I loved the sign that said Carl Free on the upper level. There was another one down by where I was sitting that said Thanks Carl for 10 good years.

Met up with Luv and Papasmurf. Also met J Diddy. Never got to see OTW58 and coffey though regrettably. guess they left Luv's tailgate literally minutes before we arrived.

It looked really empty the entire game, but it was definitely worse towards the end.

I had pre-game sideline passes so I made my kids go. I tried to get them to stay through halftime and we didn't make it till the end of the first quarter. Lot's of other folks bailing as well.

Uh, were you there? I was. Going into the last 5 minutes of the game I didn't see very many people leaving.

I was impressed with our crowd today.

7 degrees. Windy. 2-12.

What the hell were you expecting to see. That was a good turnout considering the variables in play. AND this crowd represented themselves well. They were loud when they needed to be.

F 'em tell 'em to buy you out to move down.

the more pathetic our stadium looks the better.

Wermhead should have been working the frosty malt concession. ROFL
It looked almost empty at the end.

Actually, I do believe they were trying to empty the upper level so they wouldn't have to have the concessions open.

why do you have to focus on the negative?

30 to 35 thousand. Kind of like being at a big Royals game. It was so freaking cold, kept pretty warm we left after the last Miami touchdown. I had enough of the cold by then.

I couldn't imagine being in the upper level. The wind was horrible on the field can't imagine what it would be like up top.

The brief time I was up there the wind really wasn't that bad. I think we were just in the right spot that the wind just missed it. heh

We moved down to the lower level though because we were on the shady side of the upper level.

Normally the lower level is worse. Wind circles down there. Really wasnt that bad in the upper deck.

Outside of safety considerations, one would think management probably wanted it to look better on television. :D

I find it sad that the Chiefs fans are doing this, they have never done that before.

The Chargers fans have filled Qualcomm every game this season, Even when they fell to 4-8 against Atlanta.

You'd think it'd be the other way around.

It had to be done... It was forced on us in 2006, and each game it slowly began to die off...

Give us a real NFL GM and coach and it will fill up quickly...

blueballs 12-21-2008 09:28 PM

I don't know
it was 57 and raining in Qualcomm once

That's for sure. I was at the game in St. Louis today. Many times I said, "I'm really glad I'm not at Arrowhead today" but the game would have been a helluva lot more entertaining. The attendance was abysmal, too.

bigbucks24 12-22-2008 12:07 AM

This is after the game started. That's how empty it was. Should have seen it later.

bull****. If the chargers were 2-12 and it was 5* out, Qualcomm would be empty. You guys needed an extension to sell out on a warm, sunny day. It was the second coldest game in the history of Arrowhead.

Basically, by the end, the shaded areas of the stadium were empty and the sunny areas were full. We were dying in the club level in the shade, but at halftime we moved down to the visitors side lower level and it was much better.

HypnotizedMonkey 12-23-2008 10:26 AM

I went, stayed for the whole game.. our seats had pretty much no wind luckily.
I thought it was a decent game.. Second half was a bit uncomfortable in every way. lol
I really thought there would be LESS people there, considering the weather and our record. Had a blast as usual.. Arrowhead is awesome. Did anyone else catch that dude getting carried out after an altercation in the lower level around section 131.. fool did NOT want to get ejected.
