QB Coach - supposition and wild conjecture

Assume Price is unavailable (another team offers him OC or Asst OC) or unwilling to be the QB Coach in KC.

Who would you like to see replace Curl?

also

Thinking outside the box... any former QB's you would not mind seeing in the spot?

Would you take Trent Green?

What about Len Dawson?

Joe Montana (would prolly never do it... I know)?

What about talking to Croyle and start grooming him for a job in coaching?

Discuss

I think Trent would be a good coach and he may very well enjoy coming back to KC. I doubt you'd ever get Lenny out of the booth. I would like to see Trent Dilfer coach somewhere.

RealSNR 12-24-2008 12:01 PM

Trent Green is not a QB coach. He never has been. Technically he's still an NFL player.

He is closer to a vagetable.

We have a vegetable coaching the QBs now in KC. Do we want another one?

Coach people on how to break their vagina's?

RustShack 12-24-2008 12:17 PM

Are you talking about Eric Price who is already under contract with us? We should go after Norv when hes fired.

Yup. I'm saying if some hard up team goes and offers him a OC position and he takes it... no longer available to us.

Will it happen... probably not.

Just asking a hypothetical.

RustShack 12-24-2008 01:18 PM

Dick Curl? :doh!:

Mr. Flopnuts 12-24-2008 01:21 PM

It would never happen, but if we draft Stafford I wouldn't mind bringing Bobo along with him. Not that he'd ever leave Georgia.

Mr. Laz 12-24-2008 01:40 PM

all assistant coaches STAY under contract until they are otherwise fired iirc

i imagine Clark and the new GM will want the new head coach to be here before all the assistants scatter.

yearly coaching contracts expire on March 1st????

i forget when the NFL year officially ends

InChiefsHeaven 12-24-2008 02:14 PM

I can't see Trent as a coach, I just don't think that's his shtick, but who knows. If he were interested, I'd at least talk to him about it. But, I just don't see it happening. He'll be where he belongs in a broadcast booth when he retires from the NFL.

Len Dawson is not a coach, he's a great commentator who knows all about the position. I think he'd probably lose patience with whoever the idiot was he was coaching and kill him. Not a good choice at all.

Joe...I dunno. Seems like the quiet coaching type. If he were game, how could anyone say "no, we don't want Joe Montana teaching our QB's"...

Actually, given his history with working with young people and his skills, I could see Croyle going into coaching somewhere, maybe at a small college somewhere and then working his way up to the NFL a few years down the road.

I'm not suggesting that we do that... just thinking of random scenarios. I think its obvious that Price is the heir apparent.

rad 12-24-2008 02:47 PM

That's why they call it "dope".

Rausch 12-24-2008 02:52 PM

Didn't Deberg finish up as a QB coach?

ok, but that was way too far outside the box for me

Sorry, Dude. This has been discussed ad nausem.

NO multi-millionaire former QB is going to put in 80 hours a week for $200,000.00 per year to coach a position.

NONE.

N.O.N.E.

Never said it had to be a multi millionaire former QB. But a player who actually played the position at a pro level would be cool.... and that is not unheard of.

Singletary wouldn't come here either

beach tribe 12-25-2008 02:25 AM

Joe would never do it, and I would never want him to unless we were running the West coast offense.

Correct!!! Besides, usually the "star players" in most sports make the worse coaches. Usually, it is the fringe players who turn out to be great coaches, because they have to work/study extra hard to stay with the team.

I don't think this has been said ... almost anyone will be better than what we havenow. I want Clark to clean house and the new GM to bring in top quality coaches. i.e. just maybe Ryan and Flacco are doing so well is because they have excellent teachers/coaches.

I'm not a big fan of Chan but just maybe the reason Tyler is doing so well is because Chan is doing an excellent job with him???? Just a thought!!!!

el borracho 12-25-2008 10:59 AM

Trent Green- Not the worst idea, although he hasn't any coaching experience
Len Dawson- Too old, wouldn't you rather have someone from this era?
Joe Montana- Too rich
Croyle- OK, this is just crazy talk. Croyle wasn't even a successful player in the NFL.

A lot of QB coaches weren't successful NFL QB's...
