hmm.. there were quite a few collapses this year. Cowboys, may take the edge considering everyone crowned their asses.

banyon 12-29-2008 09:21 PM

viewed from preseason expectations, the Cowboys, but no team has ever done what the Broncos did, lose a 3 game division lead with 3 games to go. That takes true talent, or lack thereof.

Agreed.

But I did derive a bit more pleasure from Denver's collapse. :)

What about the Buccos?

Dylan 12-29-2008 10:58 PM

I have a three way tie: Tampa Bay Bucs, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys.

If the front office makes mention that Favre had a significant shoulder and elbow injury, I would cross the team off the list.

The fact that it was in the worst division in the NFL makes it stand out even more.

I agree. Tampa was having a good season until they lost to Carolina.

What happened to their defense? I was wondering if Monte Kiffin had exhausted himself out -- running back and forth to UT -- seems like his assistant was drawing up the game plans...

j/k

Dr. Johnny Fever 12-29-2008 11:14 PM

Broncos up 3 with 3 to play and lose them all. That's beyond even a Chiefs-like collapse. Ok it's not but it's funny as hell that it happened to them.

Ultra Peanut 12-29-2008 11:45 PM

How do you blow the AFC West?

Crush 12-30-2008 12:09 AM

This year? The Donkeys

Of All Time? The Houston Oilers blowing a 35-3 lead against the Buffalo Bills.

Basileus777 12-30-2008 12:13 AM

The 2004 Yankees, no question. The pain it caused isn't even comparable.

I wasn't exactly a fan of what happened immediately after that collapse, either. :cuss:

Nice poll, straight off ESPN or NFL Network, one of them had it on today

manchambo 12-30-2008 01:08 AM

As painful as it was, I don't think the Broncos' was the worst.

That team was not expected to be good and was not good. Though they did it in spectacularly pathetic fashion, the Broncos ended up about where they were supposed to. In fact, I, and a lot of others, thought they'd wind up more on the order of 6 wins.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, have shitpiles of talent, and were supposed to be a SB contender. No comparison IMO.

How's the weather in Denver :)

DaneMcCloud 12-30-2008 01:17 AM

The biggest collapse without a doubt was the New York Jets.

8-3 to 9-7.

The "media's" biggest collapse would be the Cowboys.

And **** YOU ALL TO HELL the douche ****ing nozzle Dumb****s who suggested Jason Garrett should be the next Chiefs coach. I told you ****ers back in September that he's not worth a shit.

Dumb. ****s.

But... but... Favre is teh greatest QB EVAR!!!!111! LMAO

Seeing him fail was great - the best thing about the playoffs this year is that overhyped has-been whiny one who sucks the penis won't be a part of it. First he retires, then he unretires, holds his entire team hostage, throws all his fans and teammates under a bus, and all the while the media sucks him off like he's Joe Montana and ignores was a complete ****ing douche he was.

**** him.

2007 New England Patriots.....

you have to have structure for something to collapse.

You're talking ever, last years Mets have to take the cake. Single game collapse, the Saints who gave up the lead, got back to a within one, then missed the extra point has to figure in there.

DJ's left nut 12-30-2008 09:19 AM

The Bucs lost their last 4 when a single win would've put them in as well.

That's a worse collapse than the Packers and 'boys (who never really collapsed, they were steadily mediocre).

And the GM and owner fire the head coach and both state they want Favre back next year. In the last 5 games Favre had two TDs and 9 picks. No amount of coaching is going to overcome such bad QB play.
