What (if any) pets do you have?

Luv pointed out that there are a lot of cat owners around here considering that one of our most popular substances is antifreeze. Just to put a number to it, what pets (if any) do you have?

petegz28 12-29-2008 10:13 PM

Dog and cat. My dog, wife's cat. I prefer a different kind of pussy than a feline.

Gracie Dean 12-29-2008 10:15 PM

Two male cats one is black his name is spooky and he is meaner than hell
one orange huge lovable cat named Gridley who purrs so loudly you can hear him two rooms away

1 female dog pain in the ass. She is 11 years old and we have had her since she was 5 weeks old, but when she is gone, I will NEVER own another dog

Lzen 12-29-2008 10:17 PM

I have a cat and 3 dogs.

PastorMikH 12-29-2008 10:17 PM

Currently, 4 cats & 2 dogs.

Interstinly, one of our cats looks like a 4-5 month old bobcat kitten. He's got a deformed tale and medium long hair with the same coloration as a bobcat.

2 cats here, though I'd like to have a dog to round out the "family" once we are in a house instead of an apartment.

bowener 12-29-2008 10:20 PM

In my apartment, 1 cat. Parents house, 2 cats now, was 3 until a few days ago :(

No, but the kitten sure tried many, many times.

One of the kid's friends commented on them being cool so we sent them home with her. One of them was given to us 6-7 years ago and has refused to die.

DaneMcCloud 12-29-2008 10:32 PM

Two yellow Labs. The best poochies in the world, IMHO.

chasedude 12-29-2008 10:42 PM

One Cat,

He was a stray kitten @ my last apartment and I just couldn't let him suffer.

Growing up on a farm I've always been around animals and had a soft heart for them.

KCChiefsMan 12-29-2008 10:51 PM

my grandma passed and I'm taking care of her cat that she had. She's a nice cat and I definately feel obligated to take great care of her.

1 dog, a Shitzu-Pekingnese that we have had for 10 years. Just found out that the older they get the more tempermental they get....it growled at me the other day when I wanted to go one way and it wanted to go a different way. Recently it seems to be more moody...

1 cat, a Tabby that was a stray that showed up at our door at 3 months old. My children cried when I started to take it to the Animal Shelter, so we adopted it after having it checked out and spayed. It's an indoor cat for the most part, but occasionally she starts this meowing fit to go outside. Last time I let her out she didn't come back for days. My kids hated me.....so now we only let her out in the old dog run.

2 dogs at my Dads. Had two hermit crabs, both live over a year, one died and I gave the other to a friend because she had like 6. He ate 2 of hers, his name was Shits.

UteChief 12-29-2008 11:24 PM

Living in an apartment, I'm surprisingly surrounded by small dogs. I dislike small dogs. Especially the little shit next door who obviously hates being left alone. If I had a house, I'd want a bigger dog.

cdcox 12-29-2008 11:28 PM

Two cats, one male and one female. The male cat as I mentioned in Rain Man's thread is a great cat and loves people but is especially close to my wife. That cat is on her lap probably 75% of the time she is sitting down.

When I retire, I will get a dog. I would get one now, but I'm not home enough to be its primary care giver and I don't want the dog interfere with the thing she has going with the cat.

Yeah, small dogs kind of suck. We have two below us. I want a lab or golden retriever, so living in an apartment would be tough.

Especially since apartments have like a 20 lb weight limit. That's a small lab!

My dad has a black lab mix and a golden retriever. I'd want his black lab mix. Sweet as can be, but a master escape artist. Not sure exactly what she's mixed with, but she's smaller than a normal lab.

cdcox 12-29-2008 11:32 PM

I also seriously considered tropical fish a few years ago, but satisfied that itch (at least temporarily) by learning everything I could about them, planning my aquarium, etc. After I had done all of that I didn't feel the need to actually experience the whole process. Besides I wouldn't think of fish as pets so much a cross between a science experiment and living art. Maybe a fish lover will come along and convince me otherwise.

You should just grow a catfish or something. Science experiment, art, and blackened cajun

With the loss of Jupiter, we still have O.J., our 15 year-old tabby. He's a sweetie and a deep thinker, the philosopher of the family. That doesn't mean that he's above chasing a belt across the room, though.

How long have you had him? Are you sure it's a deformed tail?

My parents have a stray that show up... she had a deformed tail (we thought). Actually thought it had been caught in a lawn mower or something... you could feel this weird crook at the end of the two-inch stub.

Then she had kittens. And one of them had NO tail. Turned out, "Bob" as we called her was part Manx.

Manx are pretty cool cats, too.

KC_Lee 12-30-2008 08:26 AM

6 Dogs and one cat.

Dogs -
Bloodhound / German Sheppard mix
Sheltie Mix
Border collie
Beagle
A Chihuahua, Yorkie, poodle mix of some sort that has three legs
Terrier mix that my wife and I are rehabbing. She was a victim of a hoarder

Cat -
Basic black cat, my wife rescued from a K-Mart parking lot.

plbrdude 12-30-2008 08:33 AM

2 shop cats. a gray tabby and a calico. both female and both fixed.

TrebMaxx 12-30-2008 08:35 AM

Two dogs. Had cats before but we grew tired of the litter box, although I think the dogs miss it.

In the ManChilds room there is a tank with a Bearded Dragon in it. Somehow I am the one that remembers that the darn thing needs to be fed and watered. I know it has a name, but I just call it “Lizard”

Dog - German shepherd/Australian cattle dog mix, almost 3 years old.

Cat - Adopted stray (Maine Coon we believe), 15 years old.

At one point we had 2 dogs and 2 cats plus fish. The fish have all flushed, our original two dogs and one cat have all died in the past four years. We will never have another cat. We'll stick to one dog in the household from now on.

seclark 12-30-2008 09:00 AM

one yellow lab

one american bulldog, that my son and daughter in law dropped off at the farm 3years ago. i'll tell you right now, that when the dumb b@stard dies, i'll never have another one.

No pets now as I'm gone too much. When I had my farm a little Cairn terrier (Toto) showed up and adopted us. The dog could live in the wild with no human assistance. When my house burned down I moved to town for two months. When I returned she was still there.
