And Herm still has a job. |
hooooooooly ****. he's right. nfl.com has 'breaking news: broncos fire shannahan' at the top of the screen.
shit. never thought that would happen. |
No F-in way.
You're shitten me. Always hated him but he's a good coach. |
Broncos fire Shanahan
The Denver Broncos have fired coach Mike Shanahan, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter. |
You must be kidding. I bet the Manger server went to dust.
|
LJ in his blocking scheme NOW
|
It's true, just saw it on the NFLN ticker.
|
Bring him on board? :)
|
WOW.
|
I was just reading on Yahoo news a column asking why the rats job was safe said his tenure at pile high could be defined as with Elway and after Elway and that he pretty much sucked
|
Without seeing who's reporting it, Schefter would probably be able to scoop a lot of people on this with his ties to Denver. If so it'd be quite the shocker.
And probably our strongest competitor for whatever GM/HC people we'd want to bring in. |
Sweet. Roast in hell, Rat.

ROFL
It's the end of an era. Poor Rat-Face McCheese-Eater... |
Wow. I've been lurking around the mane for a little while. There's been kind of a split over there as to wanting him to go/stay. Should be interesting over there right now.

Mike Shanahan
A fixture in Denver for the past 14 years—that’s a long time in one place for any NFL head coach—he has a 146-98 record in the regular season and an 8-5 mark in the postseason. Under Shanahan, the Broncos won back-to-back Super Bowls after the 1997 and ‘98 seasons. Shanahan’s tenure in Denver can be separated into two chapters: with John Elway and after John Elway. With Elway as his quarterback, Shanahan’s record was 47-17 (.734) in the regular season. The Broncos won two division titles, went 7-1 in the playoffs and won those two championships. Since Elway retired after the 1998-99 season, the Broncos have gone 91-69 (.568) in the regular season, have won only one division title in 10 years and are 1-4 in the postseason. They have been a mediocre team in the past three years, compiling records of 9-7, 7-9 and 8-8. This season was particularly hard for Denver fans to swallow. After occupying first place in the AFC West for each of the first 16 weeks of the season, the Broncos lost to the Chargers in their final game—their third loss in a row—and failed to make the playoffs for the third consecutive year. Yes, there were injuries. Seven running backs wound up on injured reserve and several key defensive players missed time. But the defense has been struggling for years—it finished 29th overall this season, and only two other teams allowed more points—and Shanahan can’t seem to find a coordinator who can fix it. Winning two Super Bowls put Shanahan in a special company of coaches, but it shouldn’t guarantee him lifetime security in Denver. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...=tsn&type=lgns |
Not to jinx us, but I would just die if we fired Herm and hired the rat. What are his views on rebuilding? Please tell me he likes FAs.
|
shit. just shit. I really would have never predicted that. it looked like he had a lifetime pass in denver.

I'm so used to hating this guy, so I instinctively don't want to root for him to come to KC, HOWEVER... he'd be a huge upgrade over Herm and is a proven winner.
|
Wow.
A 5 minute conversation between Shanahan and Bowlen. |

In a release sent to 7NEWS, Denver Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen said today he relieved Mike Shanahan from his position as Executive Vice President of Football Operations/Head Coach of the National Football League team, effective immediately.
Bowlen's statement said, “After giving this careful consideration, I have concluded that a change in our football operations is in the best interests of the Denver Broncos. This is certainly a difficult decision, but one that I feel must be made and which will ultimately be in the best interests of all concerned.” Bowlen added, “I appreciate the 21 years that Mike Shanahan has given to the organization as an assistant and head coach, and the two Super Bowl wins in that time. His contributions hold a special place in Broncos history.” Pat Bowlen will hold a press conference at the Denver Broncos’ headquarters on Wednesday morning and Mike Shanahan will meet the press shortly thereafter. |

He is a great coach. He should absolutely be considered here when the new GM signs on. |
Norv Turner... the Dean of AFC West coaches.

Hire him!
|
The problem with this is that Denver will be a very desireable location for a HC - more competition now.....
|
I think he's a good head coach but I wouldn't want him as a GM...
|
If we don't get him, fine. But for people to flame away about the idea of even considering him are idiots.
Take away the name and hatred for a second. If you could hire a coach who was a 2 SB winner and is known for having an offensive running system where you an pretty much pencil in a 1200+ yard back (if they don't rotate) would you not be interested? |

The guys at OM want Cowher bad now, hell 1 person mentioned herm lol
|
No problem with him as head coach but I think, other than owning the 4th round, he has had some terrible, terrible drafts...plus he routinely trades draft picks for worthless players on opposing rosters...seems like he values free agency more than the draft and I don't think that's how you win in today's NFL.
