Cowboys cut Pacman Jones
allegations of another shooting
espn Updated: January 7, 2009, 7:18 PM ET Pacman project in Dallas is over ESPN.com news services IRVING, Texas -- Troubled cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was released Wednesday by the Dallas Cowboys following a season in which he was suspended six games for an off-field fight. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/nfl/prof...65x90/8421.jpg Jones The transaction will not become official until Feb. 9, the first day NFL teams can make waiver requests.Jones's release came after "Outside the Lines" reporter John Barr contacted the NFL, the Cowboys and Jones' attorneys about a piece scheduled to air Sunday in which three Atlanta-area men allege that Jones arranged for someone to shoot at them two months after the football player was suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in 2007. The June 2007 shooting occurred outside a suburban Atlanta strip club. One of the shooting victims told "Outside the Lines" that he had a dispute with Jones inside the strip club and that not long after he and the two others left the club, a hail of bullets struck their car. The NFL knew about that incident, but charges were never brought against anyone because the victims did not see the shooter. "Outside the Lines" obtained information that police, investigating a separate Atlanta-area case, had been told by an informant that Jones ordered the June 2007 shooting following his dispute with one of the men. Police have said while the case remains open they are not actively investigating. The Cowboys traded for Jones before the season even though he had been suspended in 2007 because of a series of off-field incidents. "He was surprised, and I think he was obviously somewhat hurt," said Worrick Robinson, Jones' agent. "At the same time, he understands the business behind what is happening here." He missed six games this season for violating the league's player conduct policy after an Oct. 7 scuffle with a team bodyguard at a Dallas hotel. He missed a seventh game with an injury. Jones averaged just 4.6 yards per punt return and had no interceptions. Robinson said he did not think Jones' suspension was a factor in the Cowboys' decision to release the cornerback. "We don't have any reason to believe at this point that that off-the-field incident had anything to do with the team's decision today," Robinson said. "I know there was certainly a lot of bad that came out of that situation, but there was some good that came out of that situation as well." |

While he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt given his past, I still don't like to hear that he's being fired based on speculation from a couple of criminals under investigation. If there isn't even enough evidence for the police to actively investigate the case, they shouldn't be able to fire him for it, especially since it was already known to the NFL and the Cowboys before they hired him.

I do not understand if Pacman is an idiot, reerun or just has the brain of a gay bird. If you can't learn from you third time getting into trouble, then you do not deserve to even play football. I hate it when such people misuse their fame and money.

ed werder of espn reported that jerry jones may release TO as well, to remove distractions from the locker room...
|
Dammit Scott!

Pacman's retirement plans center around either jail or an early grave. Keep living the dream, dumb****.

Has anyone seen any of this worthless human being's quotes on SportsCenter?! His education level is that of a 4th grader it's sad! He's such a waste of space in this world, people like him should be shot. |
This may be a first! But I'm actually glad the Chiefs have such a promising group of CB's that they wouldn't be that desperate at CB to even consider Jones.

And honestly, he had to fuck up a lot of times to get such a short leash. You reap what you sow. |
After the alleged shooting of Joe "Pinky" Taylor last year, and the allegations in Atlanta of Clyde Johnson, Jeremy Blinky and Ted N. Key this year, prosecutors now have affirmed a motive by Pacman.
|
He'll be dead or in jail within 2 years of leaving the NFL.

My understanding after reading the article on ESPN was that it was one of the same incidents that the NFL and Cowboys had already been notified of before his reinstatement and hiring and that the "new evidence" wasn't even enough to get the police to actively investigate the case. If it's completely new and actionable evidence, I don't have a problem with what's going on, but if it's just old news with some opportunistic reporter trying to make a name for himself and Jerry Jones trying to save face after an embarassing season, I think that's BS.

I think its a case of where the Cowboys assessed Pacmans season and came to the conclusion of: He isnt worth the potential embarrasment/distraction for the minimal amount he produced on the field. |
If that's the case, it makes perfect sense, but that's not how it's being presented. I just have a real problem with people throwing other people under the bus in order to save their own ass or to make a name for themselves. I hate opportunists like that.

They call him toast he got burnt so often

My hatred for the Cowboys would like to see him stay, but the arrival of Roy W. pretty much sealed his fate a while back. |

That is bannable phrase for having LFBIQ.... IF YOU had HFBIQ you would of said something more along the lines of "Hey guys Pacman has been cut, but I dont think he is worth the trouble when we already have two/three pretty solid CB's" or "Would a pick up of Pacman help or hinder our young secondary?" No instead you break out LFBIQ..... Nice Job! |

No, no one should give this guy another chance. Demand more out of your players. We have enough issues with LJ.
