Herm Likely Here One More Year...
IMHO
I'll try not to say I told you so....but my gut says Herm is back for one more year. Think about it... :hmmm: Personally, I hope I'm wrong, but it makes too much sense....if you really think about it (and you ignore Herm's "record"--which could be easy to do, given the state the Chiefs were in when he 'took over'.) Pioli might be willing to go through one more draft with Herm (his strength) to add to the good base of young players we have. He'll then add a few key FAs with the cap space we have. Then tell Herm, "It's time to pull an Arizona or Baltimore...in 2009. Or you will be working in player personnel next year, or with another team." No one EXPECTS the rebuild to get done in one year; so Pioli....gives lets Herm sink or swim. He could give him enough rope to hang himself, or Herm shocks the world by turning it around in one season (no "shock" really, given then NFL today.) If Herm succeeds, Pioli adds to his legend; if Herm fails, Pioli fires him next year...none-the-worse for the one-year probation to Herm. And he gets his pick of a couple of strong head coach candidates sitting out the 2009 season. If anything, it just gives Pioli a "bye" year....to assess the team, the needs, and to develop a plan for 2010. Thoughts? :hmmm: |
You're crazy.
|
My gut is telling me Herm gets the Axe, kind of like my prediction that Clark wants progrees. Lets see if my other prediction comes true which Clark wants a franchise QB this offseason( most likely Stafford if he's there

This is consistent in quality with your political takes, at least.

Guess we'll see.... :toast: |
Your gut, huh? I think that's just the sandwich you had.
|
As a guy who doesn't think Herm is nearly as bad as people paint him to be, I can't think of a single scenario where Pioli would or should want to keep herm around.
He doesn't deserve someone else's table scraps. |

I had that same crazy feeling, coming up with the opinion that Herm really needs to go. It won't benefit the organization, keeping an old hire from the old GM who was honored by a less-than-half empty stadium at his last game. Thinking about how Herm got here in the first place, solidifies it.
Herm will have lots of bucks to ease his pain. Think about that. |

The best rebuttal to this crazy talk that I can think of is this: If Pioli were to do as you say he might, then he would be looking out for himself before the team he was just hired to run. I simply don't think that Clark would have hired someone with that kind of selfishness.

I hope you are right....:) |
There's been too much rumor about the staff told they're out for it to just be smoke, I think. We'll see.
|
Is Herm buying season tickets?
That is the ONLY way he is here next year... A GM of Pioli's caliber is not going to assocaite with losers like Herm... |

I just don't see it.

No ****ing way!

So the most sought after GM candidate in the league is going to keep this shitty coach.....the odds of that are below 1%.
|
Nice title for a thread based solely upon a clueless, no-nothing opinion.
|
Pioli will take one look at Herm and then start laughing. Then he'll say "you think that's funny?" Then he'll start stabbing. Then he'll call out for canoli. Then he'll get on his Wii Fit before disposing of the body.
|
The mere fact that Herm learned through the media that Pioli got hired and no one consulted him on it is pretty telling IMO.

You'd think they would be trying to staunch the gossip about Herm Edwards getting fired that is all over ESPN. One call to John Clayton or a short press conference would end all of those damaging rumors. |
Pioli wouldn't have taken the job unless Herm's departure had been part of the package. The idea the Pioli would want to keep a lame duck Herm Edwards for a year is ludicrous.

Herm's fate is sealed, we just don't know 'officially' know it. |
If Herm makes it out of the day as Chiefs HC, I'll be surprised.......

I saw herm coming in this morning in his special suit.

There is absolutely no basis for keeping Herm one more year.
None. You can stretch and slice it anyway you want. He's got a record of 15-33. Herm had enough rope to hang himself this year. I do not want this loser apart of this orgranization one more day, let alone one more season. Some of you want to act like this is his first coaching job and he'll improve. He's made the same mistakes OVER and OVER. He will never learn. He will stay the same stubborn ass he's always been. When is he going to fix the defense? I pity any team that decides Herm is a good fit for them. |
Will someone change the title of the thread, it's horribly misleading.

I've found a song that describes the true fans' desire to keep herm one more year.

And, Mr. Kotter (can't say just Kotter ... gotta be Mr.), if Pioli keeps Herm it will mean he is not the GM we all thought he is. Herm just hasn't lost games ... it's his coaching ability. He is simply not a SB winning coach. Has to rely upon Curl for basic decision ... nuf said. Yes, anything is possible but if Herm stay my expectations of this GM goes way down. |
He's out the door. That's not a tough decision to make at all.

With 15 posts a day for the last 8 years, I'd say your gut should be telling you a lot of things by now. Like see a doctor. |
Yesterday I was starting to think the same thing. But I've got to believe that when Pioli asks Herm who he wants for his Defensive Coordinator and Herm says Gunther it will be all over.
