BRC becoming a "Real" fan again?

So I got a call from the Chiefs wanting me to sign up for season tickets again since king Carl was gone.

They don't have my orginal seats 18 rows off the field in the end zone but they will let me keep my senority in the seat upgrade program.

They said that they can give me some upper level seats and then with my high senority I should be able to get back close to my old seats in the lower bowl no farther than 20 rows off the field.

Whats your opinion?

Should I become a "real" fan again?

Anyone interested in splitting 3 season tickets?

I pick one game, you pick one game, then me, then you etc.

But be warned that we could be 18 rows off the field or in the upper deck if the Chiefs are BS'ing me.

Should I trust them to get me back into the lower bowl?

Scorp 01-14-2009 09:18 AM

In Clark we trust.

Get them to put the seniority and promises of lower bowl in writing and put a deadline on it (2011 season opener or whatever).

I'd do it.

Mr. Flopnuts 01-14-2009 09:20 AM

I would jump back on that in a heartbeat, unless you can find better ones and the licensing to them on your own.

mikey23545 01-14-2009 09:22 AM

And the bandwagoners jump back on....

Do you have to enter into a multi-year contract?

If so, I would make your move to the lower bowl part of the deal, in writing. If they cannot accommodate your request by, say, year two, then the contract could be void.

RJ 01-14-2009 09:29 AM

I would do some comparison shopping with the other NFL teams in your area before making a commitment.

I hardly call a someone purchasing tickets for a 2-14 team a "bandwagon" fan. All any fan really needs is hope, and now that Carl and Herm are/will be gone, there is hope again.

I watched Leeny the cool and Otis Taylor on TV for years before they won a Super Bowl.

I was on the season ticket waiting list for 3 years before I got tickets.

Season ticket holder from 1994-2007. Never missed a game until the pre-season 2006 games.

Bandwaggoner would not be the exact term that comes into most peoples mind.

patteeu 01-14-2009 09:40 AM

Yes, do it. And buy an extra seat for me. :D

They said that club seats could be open but I'm not paying $200 a game.

Understandable.

You're thinking about dropping a lot of money. Given the price of today's game, no season ticket holder for any franchise should ever be called a bandwagoner. It's too expensive to get on this wagon.

Top to bottom. vs. bottom to top. Make your case with years of STH invested.

That's pretty funny. I've never had season tickets "in my name" I've always purchased them from someone else. The ticket guy told me the exact same thing he told you with regards to the seat upgrade program. Said I should have no problem getting into the lower level. Keep in mind I have no senority...

That's for sure.

luv 01-14-2009 10:13 AM

It's a gamble either way. My dad ended up getting 13th row from the field the first year he got his. I don't know if he lucked into them, or what.

Bandwagoners? These long-time season-ticket holders that gave up their seats should be commended. It was their actions that helped accelerate Carl out of power.

If being a bandwagonner is refusing to buy a horrible product until they improve (even though there are 31 other products to choose from at any given time) then I'm a bandwaggoner.

In turn I think it's stupidity to blindly support someone or something no matter how destructive it is only for the sake of supporting.

I wouldn't mind doing that.

HemiEd 01-14-2009 11:24 AM

Heck yes, you need to show support for what Clark is doing. I only wished there was someway I could make to each game and would do it myself.

Luzap already has the good seats locked up.

What u said

Reerun_KC 01-14-2009 11:30 AM

I would wait until they offically fire Herm...

That is what we are waiting on...

ChiefsCountry 01-14-2009 12:03 PM

I am moving down in the upper deck this year, these last 2 years of hell should help that cause.

BigRedChief 01-14-2009 10:52 PM

No way I am spending $3,500 on tickets if Herm is back.

007 01-14-2009 10:53 PM

Herm isn't fired yet.

Buehler445 01-14-2009 11:00 PM

Honestly, I know nothing about your situation, so please don't misinterpret what I am saying. But my reccommendation to you is to make sure you can afford it first. Take a good long look at your financial situation relative to your goals. If you think you can afford it, my answer would be a resounding YES!

Assuming of course Herm is gone.

teedubya 01-14-2009 11:26 PM

Im guessing that Nzoner gets his seats back now, as well.

tell em to call you back after they fire herm

Rooster 01-15-2009 02:51 PM

So what can a guy expect as a first time season ticket holder. I have heard different things. Luv's dad got to the bottom instantly yet others have had to work their way down to the field.

Is it a totally random thing or is there a system in place? I am considering tickets myself and would like any insight I can get.

stevieray 01-15-2009 06:54 PM

how do you keep herm and and fire his staff? they are either all here or not...I think that clark is being diplomatic..you don't turn a franchise around by getting rid of one guy...

took me five years to get the front row seat in the EZ..no way I'm giving that up..at least till the new stadium is unveiled..

Coach 01-15-2009 06:58 PM

I would politely tell the person that I will take it if Herm Edwards was fired/let go.

BigRedChief 03-03-2009 08:17 AM

So any takers now?

htismaqe 03-03-2009 09:37 AM

Do it. :)

burt 03-03-2009 09:43 AM

Several of us here, at work have given up our season tickets due to the economy pinch. Mine were 14th row 15 yard line. I am sure that you will get great tickets if you do it!

Yeah, I'm just not ready to re-commit $3K+ to the team. I'm making more money than I ever have so there is no recession at my house.

But still to spend $3K on tickets to 2 exhibition games every year as part of that package when I could do so much more with the $3K is hard to justify.

donate the PS games to Boys Club, etc and just write it off. ~30% back, better than nothing. :)

I usually do 3 - 4 games per year, until last year it was only 2 games (Bucs & Dolphins).

Any update on what kind of seats? Wife is disabled and those upper level seats would not work very well for us.

But I'm open to a discussion on splitting season tickets depending on the seats...

I would put the $3k (and all other fees you take in by going to the games) into a kickass home entertainment system and enjoy the games in the privacy of my own home on a screen the size of the wall.

I've got the biggest HD screen that will fit downstairs. Bose speaker surroundsound through a high calibur recever. Even got Bose speakers upstairs tied into the system. Mighty happy with my set up. :thumb:

What they are doing is giving you upper level seats. But they will give you the senority that use to have to upgrade the seats. I was 18 rows off the field in the end zone when I left last year. Doesn't mean I'm going back there or getting better seats either. Just that I get back in the line to upgrade where I left off.

MiDW3sT 03-03-2009 05:00 PM

Support the team. These renovations weren't cheap. Though you may not see it next year, the drastic difference will be worth the wait and money come 2010.

Rausch 03-03-2009 05:13 PM

I can watch a game at home, that's no big deal.

But the people I met going to the games is what I enjoyed. To me the game is secondary to attending a sideways type of class reunion where only the people you want to see show up.

If you can afford it I'd tell you to re-up and work in as many strange faces as possible...

Leaving the stadium is what got Carl Peterson fired. You blind followers would've kept packing the house and we'd still have that douchebag running the show.

You're not a bandwagoner if you're making a principled stand. I'd say anyone that spends any appreciable amount of time on a Chiefs chat-board probably qualifies in the regard.

ChiefsCountry 03-03-2009 05:29 PM

Cassel deal about made me to opt out of mind. But I hung through the Herm years and I love the idiot team too much even when they do dumb things.

cdcox 03-03-2009 05:54 PM

They are asking you to buy Cadillac tickets, while they sign a Taurus QB, whose best attribute is that he was a good deal.

no problem and if there is any other planet member here that wants to split my tickets, i am throwing it out there as well, i need to offset my cost as well, i dropped my 3rd seat but i kept 2 seats...I have the tickets listed in the ticket forumn just drop me a line, and lets get it worked out....

so BRC did you renew yet? did you see the seats up in the corners, not to bad for $25 a seat, the only problem is walking all the way to the top and back down!

Phobia 03-04-2009 10:18 PM

I actually have a problem with this sales tactic. If I were a STH who stuck it out through the lean years and somebody who jumped out of line was allowed to come back ahead of me I'd be livid.
