KFFL: Edwards to take some time before deciding future...

NFL | Edwards to take some time before deciding future
Fri, 23 Jan 2009 15:06:13 -0800

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herman Edwards said he will take the weekend before deciding his future. He said he will either take some time off, work in television or take a defensive backs coaching position. He does not want to be a defensive coordinator.

Anyone think it's possible that Pioli has offered Herm the Defensive Backs Coaching position?

Do you think Pioli has the audacity to offer Herm the Defensive Backs Coaching job, or Herm have the humility to consider?

Is there anything to this, or is he done in Kansas City all together?

FloridaMan88 01-23-2009 06:05 PM

You are actually asking if Herm has a future of any type in KC?

That is a joke right?

Jawshco 01-23-2009 06:05 PM

Re!-

Nah, it's just not worth it. Today is what it is.

WTF, man?

Seriously, slap yourself a few times to wake up.

BigRock 01-23-2009 06:06 PM

MNF

Out with Tony K.

In with Herm.

Hammock Parties 01-23-2009 06:06 PM

Who is this Herm Edwards guy?

Don't talk about him on this forum, please.

ChiefMojo 01-23-2009 06:09 PM

That guy will either be in Indy or Tampa Bay coaching dem DB's!

aturnis 01-23-2009 06:10 PM

Wow, everyone wants to be an ass huh. Just saying, Herm proved he is no HC, but also proved to have a good eye for DB talent and how to mold it.

Just thought it might explain why they LET Gibbs go. Everyone here was disappointed to see him go, and why would they let him go if he is a good coach? Why unless they have an idea of who they want to replace him.

The Bad Guy 01-23-2009 06:11 PM

The fact that he doesn't want to be a D-coordinator tells me all I need to know about how much of a chickenshit Herman Edwards is.

No one is trying to be an ass.

If you get fired and you're the boss, are you taking a position to get someone coffee at the same company?

boogblaster 01-23-2009 06:12 PM

Sometimes a coach can coach , then all of a sudden they can't ... Herm is a can't ...

Or this is a stark admission of not knowing what the **** he's doing.

Actually coordinate a defense?!? ****, I can't do that! /Herm/

blueballs 01-23-2009 06:15 PM

It's okay

Otter 01-23-2009 06:16 PM

This is why I don't go out much anymore. You're having a perfectly good time then bam...asshat joins in.

I suppose he will know better what to do after reviewing the tapes.

Mama Hip Rockets 01-23-2009 07:18 PM

i don't care where he goes, as long as it's far far away from here.

Like I asked...Do you think Pioli has the audacity to offer Herm the Defensive Backs Coaching job, or Herm have the humility to consider?

With all the talk of all the integrity that Herm Edwards possesses. Is that integrity enough to say **** what they say?

If your answer is no, then a simple "no" would suffice. If you would like to elaborate as to why...then please, do so. "Would you?" is not enough for me, I'm not Herm Edwards.

DaneMcCloud 01-23-2009 07:21 PM

I think Herm ends up on television and eventually in someone's front office.

I'd be really surprised if his coaching days aren't over.

Word. I'd rather have Elvis Grbac come back and coach up the quarterbacks.

I think he should just be a DB coach thats it.

I prolly wouldn't be able to stand hearing his voice on television.

whoman69 01-23-2009 07:24 PM

I have a suggestion for him.

Hit the road Jack. And don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.

ChiefsCountry 01-23-2009 08:30 PM

Wish Herm the best of luck. He sucked as coach but he gutted this mess we had. We have some good young talent and a shot at a franchise QB. Not all bad.

When the idea of Gun coming back was first floated, I thought it would never work and that Gun's ego wouldn't let him comeback after being fired over the internet. Then he came back any way. I thought, well if Gun is willing to swallow his pride, why not? We saw how that worked out.

I've come to the conclusion that if someone is willing come back with their hat in their hand like that, there are probably other issues and you don't want that person anyway.

blueballs 01-23-2009 09:27 PM

Herm had a five year contract in NY at about 2 mil a year
four year contract in KC at about 4 mil a year
26 mil if all paid out -I'd say he could afford not to be shamed

aturnis 01-23-2009 09:43 PM

I thought he was making 3 mil a year here?

the Talking Can 01-24-2009 06:15 AM

Herm taking his time:

This.

And somebody should send a note to the NFL, that Herm shouldn't be coaching in the NFL, as it's apparently clear that he's not gonna be responsible for himself and his job. He just wants to make the big money, otherwise, we all know that he would be working a McDonalds, flinging shitburgers.

bluehawkdoc 01-24-2009 09:30 AM

Herm probably is consulting with Dick "the wind beneath my wings" Curl before he makes any final decisions.

In a word ... NO!!! How would you like to be the coach and have the former coach looking over your shoulder? Not going to happen!!!

As my college coaching baby brother says, teams/schools should hire winning coaches. (He is amazed at how often they hire good ole boys or something thinking they will succeed), Herm is not a winner. Case closed.

I'm not convinced he is a good talent scout. We have some good talent but not a lot of great talent.

Right!!! Or, never could coach as his record indicates.

True! Yes, a lot of the blame goes to Carl. He should have started the rebuild even the first year he arrived instead of lying to us that the offense would continue as it did the year before. But, he did give us a chance of a QBOTF, if Pioli deterimes there is one at #3. We should appreciate Herm having the guts to do that. There is some young talent on the team. But, I don't agree with the statement that he deserves another year coz he started the rebuild. He is just not a winning coach. Tony or Waters mentioned he lost the locker room.

TEX 01-24-2009 08:26 PM

HELL FKN NO!!! I don't want Herm anywhere near the Chiefs again.
