End of story: Shanahan is not taking Chief's job
Shanahan is not taking Chief's job
KANSAS CITY - Mike Shanahan may not have a new job after all. After reports surfaced the former Denver Broncos head coach was close to taking the top job with the Kansas City Chiefs, those reporting that have backtracked. ESPN now reports only that the Chiefs are targeting Shanahan for their head coaching job after the team fired Herm Edwards on Friday. Initially, ESPN reported that a deal was near between the Chiefs and Shanahan. Edwards was fired after going 15-34 in three seasons. He still had one year left in his original four-year, $12 million contract. The NFL Network's Adam Schefter, who recently finished writing a book with Shanahan, maintains Shanahan will not be taking the job with the Chiefs and is not considering it. "They are not near a deal. They are not near a deal right now, they were not near a deal yesterday, they will not be near a deal tomorrow. Mike Shanahan will not be the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs," Schefter told 9NEWS. "All the people in Denver can stop worrying or stop talking about it, it's not happening. I know there have been national reports to the other effect. I'm here to tell you just the opposite, it's not going to happen." Schefter says he has spoken with Shanahan directly about it. "I speak to Mike regularly, there has been nothing in his tone or in his message that has given me any indication that he will be the coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. I know for a fact they've not had contact to this point. The Chiefs may in fact reach out to him in the coming days and even then I firmly believe it will not change anything," Schefter said. The Broncos have hired new head coach and former New England Patriots offense coordinator Josh McDaniels to replace Shanahan. When he was fired, Shanahan still had three years left on his contract, worth about $20 million. http://www.9news.com/sports/article....8396&catid=345 |
REPOST????

this is great news
|
Even if right, it is hilarious watching the Broncos fans have little tantrums over this story. If the Shanahan thing never happens this has all been worth it.
|
Schefter is reporting that other people who disagree with him are wrong?
Doesn't seem like an "end of story" to me. |
We know Schefter categorically denies the possibility; that is not news.
|
Yeah, well I spoke personally with Adam Schefter after a few rounds of Leinenkugels at the Horse's Rear Inn, and it turns out that his real name is actually Adam Shifty.

Bill Cowher is looking for houses in KC.
|
What does this prove?
Is Schefter a mind-reader? If he's spoken directly to him about it, why does he have to examine his tone or message? Wouldn't he flat out just say I'm not coaching the Chiefs? Seems like a complete guess on Schefter's part, and just a complete re-hash of old information. The fact that this slimeball is getting this worked up over it is ****ing hilarious. If he's so confident, why throw a hissy fit? |

Not saying he is wrong, but didn't he say Pioli wasn't coming to KC, too?
|
ROFL Taco and Schefter are really flusterated.
|
Old news and Shefter isn't the end all and be all to whether or not Shanny signs, no matter how badly he wants it to be.

Specifically, Schefter is reporting that he talked to Shanahan directly about it, and the other people are wrong. Meanwhile, ESPN is backpedaling on their report. |
Let it die on the operating table; do NOT resuscitate.

the Chiefs couldn't get there without picking up a Bronco reject |
Oh man, it will be downright hilarious if it happens now.

""I speak to Mike regularly, there has been nothing in his tone or in his message that has given me any indication that he will be the coach of the Kansas City Chiefs."
Gee, what sound reporting all based on his tone. |
:hmmm:
TJ and Schefter (both of whom suffer from Napoleonic Syndrome) met in a romantic Larimer Square restaurant some time ago....and consummated a clandestine relationship, that is now put to the test. Will TJ's forbidden lover be "correct," or is he simply another misguided and myopic Donkey fan who simply cannot fathom the specter of Shanny becoming the HC of their AFC West nemesis? Only time, and perhaps Oprah or Montel, will tell....stay tuned!!! Heh. :) |

Schefter sets the record straight, and you throw a hissy fit and claim that it's Schefter who is throwing the hissy fit. That's just strange. |

I think this Schefter guy just likes to hear his own name getting mentioned. I remember watching the NFL channel and every story on the ticker began with "Adam Schefter of the NFL Channel reports...."
Like DUH! |
End of story: Taco is scared shitless.

That stuff has already started. |
So if Shanahan had talked to the Chiefs (while Herm was still under contract and before the Chiefs had officially opened their search) do you think he'd tell that to a reporter? Of course he would deny that he had spoken to the Chiefs.
|
If you have ever seen Schifty on NFLNetwork
this whole thing is quite hilarious he's about the Rat's size and gets about red of face |

**** this shit; time for Clone Wars! |
Taco, are you ready to go ahead and call it?
|
All these end of story threads/posts/reports beg the obvious question: why hasn't Shanarat himself denied the rumors?

Everyone knows that you're the one who is Anton. You created that account so you could let a piece of you out of the closet. It probably felt pretty good to be free, even if it was just an "anonymous" account that you were moonlighting with.. |

That's why you and your minions are over here trying to put out the flames. Schefter made a ****ing ass out of himself on television because he's so sure that Shanahan won't be the Chiefs coach. He does not have a direct quote from Shanahan, which you would think would be pretty easy for someone like him to get. He says "I talk to Mike regularly" not "I talked to him today and he said he's not coaching the Chiefs". |

Are you expecting Shanahan to come off his vacation in Cabo to deny some stupid WPI rumors? |
Quote:
He no talky with the man himself. Shefter is like a jilted bitch, crying when the guy who slipped her the tube steak won't return a text message. |
Quote:
Shanahan isn't in Cabo. |

There are no phones in Cabo? |

Flames? You guys are over here creaming your shorts about hiring the most iconic coach in Denver Broncos history, only adding more fuel to the "Denver Broncos is the Chiefs Superbowl" fire. Your organization is fascinated with the Broncos. You guys want to be us soooo bad. And you could have been us in 1997 too -- if it weren't for Mike Shanahan, that is. |
One way or another, this whole deal is going to end up being fantastic. Mort, Scheffler, Nick (and Claythan), and Taco John are all taking pretty hard stances on this. Two of the four are going to crash and burn, and it's going to be glorious no matter what happens.

What team's message board are YOU on, again? Yet WE want to be YOU. Ironic. |
If you guys want to borrow our HOF coach to get you over the hump, I say be my guest. And if Broncos East happens to beat the real Broncos, and move on to the playoffs, I'll root you guys on.

You just can't quit him, can you? |

Mort has already backed down from his own story and is talking about Haley as a possibility.

Clark Hunt and Scott Pioli are building this team, not Mike Shanahan. He's just coaching it. Besides, have you pondered what happens if Mike Shanahan has equal or...GASP...GREATER success in Kansas City? Oh yeah, Shanny will be bleeding red and yellow! |
