2009 Chiefs Free Agents
Here are the guys that are set to become either Restricted Free Agents or Unrestricted Free Agents.
QB Brodie Croyle RFA WR Jeff Webb RFA OC Rudy Niswanger UFA RG Adrian Jones UFA DE Jason Babin UFA LB Pat Thomas UFA LB Rocky Boiman UFA FS Jarrad Page RFA FS Jon McGraw UFA FS Oliver Celestin UFA Enjoy. And do what you want with it. |
My view, Croyle stays, Niswanger stays, Boiman stays, Page stays, and McGraw stays, scrap all the other scrubs.
|
The only one worth salvaging is Page and that is about it. Get rid of the rest and say good riddance.

Out of the guys I listed, if you are going to keep any of them it has got to be those 5. Webb, Jones, Babin, Thomas, and Celestin need to be gone. They were simply terrible. |
All I know is the fact that this team is about to receive a LONG overdue enema.

Pioli should resign Babin on one condition. He removes his gay looking tattoos on his arms by laser. |

Sidenote: I did not know it until now, but I have ran into Oliver Celestin a few times and never knew he was a Chiefs player.. |

If not he is training camp fodder.. |
John McGraw is only in the league cause he's friends with Herm, Herm is now gone.

can we feed them all to a wood chipper?

We're so flush with good young talent because of Herm. Just look at the quality of those RFAs.
|
It will be interesting to see how many of these duds get picked up by other teams.
|
QB Brodie Croyle RFA - too injury prone to even be a back up.
WR Jeff Webb RFA - I've never been a fan. I'd let him go. If the new staff sees something I don't, I won't get bent out of shape over it. OC Rudy Niswanger UFA - he's a starter for now and can be solid depth later. No reason not to re-sign him to a reasonable contract. RG Adrian Jones UFA - we need to do better, even at depth. DE Jason Babin UFA - depth LB Pat Thomas UFA - bye. LB Rocky Boiman UFA - bye. FS Jarrad Page RFA - stays for a reasonable contract. FS Jon McGraw UFA - bye. FS Oliver Celestin UFA - who? |
Half those guys won't even be in the league next year...
|
I'd say Babin for nothing but depth, and Page.
The rest can help move all Herm's shit out of his house on their way to their new careers as greasy used car salesmen. |
Page I'd try to keep. Niswanger and Jones I'd keep if the price is right only because we obviously have nothing else better to put on the field right now.
|
Rudy Niswanger is a RFA not a UFA so we will probably keep him.
|
We need depth and training camp fodder.
For fodder, keep Croyle for now, since we need several arms in training camp and we only have two right now (not counting him). Lowest possible contract. Cut Webb already. Useless Herm hold on. Keep Niswanger. Sign him to a cheap long term contract if possible. He is a one-year plus starter who has some upside and will at least be good depth going forward at center and guard. Keep Page for sure. Again, a starter with plus and upside who played fairly well despite zero pressure on the QB. Cut McGraw already, he's too old, but I'll continue to argue he wasn't bad on special teams. Others to keep as camp fodder: RG Adrian Jones UFA DE Jason Babin UFA LB Pat Thomas UFA LB Rocky Boiman UFA |
IMHO, Page is the only one worth keeping around.

I thought Derrick Johnson could void the last year or so of his contract and hit free agency.
Page is the only definite keeper. I wouldn't mind if they gave a backup contract to Niswanger. Who know what type of offense we will run. If we switch to a zone blocking scheme, Niswanger might do a little better. |
keep Page let the rest go back to selling insurance like they should have been doing in the first place. To anyone who doesn't think this team needs a complete rebuild just look at that list, those are a lot of Herms "young talent". What a joke.

Webb - They'll do the same thing as Croyle....but I don't see him making the team next year. Niswanger - They might bring him back....but if they do...I think it will be at guard. Jones - Gone Babin - Will probably come back for depth. Thomas - Gone Boiman - Gone Page - I forsee a 3 to 4 year deal for him. I'd love to see someone brought in to compete with him. McGraw - Herm is gone......McGraw will follow him out the door. Celestin - I have no idea who the kid is. Probably gone. |
