Michael Vick as a Spread QB?

Do you think he could be a spread QB at least as effective as Thigpen was for us last year?

(BTW, I'm not asking that we bring in Vick.)

afchiefs 02-11-2009 09:54 AM

 this should be fun

bobbything 02-11-2009 09:55 AM

The only reason I'm glad I opened this thread is because of afchiefs' avatar.

Johnny Vegas 02-11-2009 09:59 AM

well it was being discussed on 1st and 10....

I think any team thinking of bringing him in are reeruned. Vick needs to move on and the NFL. He burned that bridge.

Bowser 02-11-2009 10:02 AM

Wildcat Michael Herpes, takes it to the house!

Brock 02-11-2009 10:02 AM

He'd be an excellent wildcat gimmick player for sure.

CoMoChief 02-11-2009 10:03 AM

He'd ****ing rule in that offense. Too bad he won't play in the NFL again.

Bowser 02-11-2009 10:03 AM

An honest answer - no. He was a great runner playing QB. I don't think Vick had it in him to ever really read a defense well enough to become a Warren Moon type of passer in a run-n-shoot/spread offense.

Frosty 02-11-2009 10:07 AM

Atlanta ran the spread option when Vick was there. I know Easterbrook had a big article on ESPN.com about Atlanta adopting a "high school offense" to make Vick more effective.

Basileus777 02-11-2009 10:07 AM

But the spread makes it much much easier to read defenses, which is why Vick would probably be a good fit in that kind of offense.

They ran a bit of the option where Vick would read the DE and decide whether to keep it or hand it off. They didn't really go out in the shotgun all that much.

Johnny Vegas 02-11-2009 10:09 AM

ha! 1st and 10 said Vicking fans want Vick.

blueballs 02-11-2009 10:15 AM

Okay
what about once he gets out of prison

Demonpenz 02-11-2009 10:18 AM

Raiders should get pac man and vick and adopt the NWO theme song

Say hello to the bad guy

More like bruceliosis there Bowser don't you think?

Sam Hall 02-11-2009 10:23 AM

You know, there's a rumor about Terrell Owens being traded to the Raiders. The Raiders should make that deal and sign Vick. Here's their 2009 motto: "Oakland Raiders football: Fun for everyone, except the Raiders."

Good thing. Cause I was about to come down to AZ and slap the shit out of you.

dtebbe 02-11-2009 10:26 AM

Last time I checked Vick has won more playoff games than any recent KC QB.

Yeah, he would probably be okay in that offense. I wouldn't say that he won't play in the NFL for sure. Too many teams that are always willing to take a risk. How many chances did guys like Lawrence Phillips, Randy Moss, To, etc. get?

dtebbe 02-11-2009 10:38 AM

Vick should get a 2nd chance. If Leonard Lytle gets a 2nd chance after killing someone (and serving no time) Vick should definitely get a 2nd chance. If he screws up again - lifetime ban.

Leonard Little should have been thrown into a wood chipper.

Mecca 02-11-2009 10:40 AM

Hey cmon now, Moss and TO aren't remotely comparable to Lawrence Phillips.

jAZ 02-11-2009 10:58 AM

I think he'll definately play again and I suspect he'll be a better man for all of this. My question is what effect will all of this time off have on both his atheltic ability and what skill he had developed over the years.

jAZ 02-11-2009 10:59 AM

I could also see Pioli pulling the trigger on Vick at an almost zero cost with no risk and big upside. It's not like Vick was ever a team cancer or something.

I don't want Vick if he totally repents, offers to pay the Chiefs 30 million and wins us 5 Superbowls in a row...

OK well maybe I could negotiate on the last item a bit.

blueballs 02-11-2009 11:08 AM

He'll be 29 in June and out of football shape
probably not worth anyone's time for a RB

I doubt it. He was one of the biggest black eyes the NFL has ever gotten.

Inspector 02-11-2009 11:20 AM

I don't think Vick has a dog in this fight.

kcfanXIII 02-11-2009 11:34 AM

how about we let him play in the puppy bowl, only instead of puppies, they're fully grown pit bulls, and instead of pads, helmet, cup, etc. we let him wear a suit made of raw meat. then we we starve the dogs for a day or two. if he survives he can come back to the nfl, where i will still boo him, and probably throw eggs at him if given the chance. now that i think about it, bring him to kc, so i am closer to his home, and can let him know how big a piece shit he is more often.

The Franchise 02-11-2009 11:35 AM

You doubt he plays again? Or you doubt he even gets a shot with a team to see if he can play again?

I am certain that he'll get a shot, but I don't know if he will make a team... though I suspect he will.

ROFL

well played, sir.

suds79 02-11-2009 12:20 PM

I think the only possible way Vick is successful in the NFL again is if he comes in a team's wildcat formation QB/runner.

As a QB alone? He's horrible.
