Ten years ago i wouldnt have given it a 2nd thought.
what has happened to me? have i grown old and soft?
my boss tells me yesterday that someone was in my truck. weve played this game here at work before being located next to a brown derby we get lots of drunks and riff raff types. so i think ya right he is pulling my leg. upon further inspection i see there is a person in my truck. i walk out to where the vehicle is parked and theres a drunk layin in the floor board and he has a pack of Ron JOn cards my mother gave me in one hand and my change in the other. i never hesitate, i punch the guy in the nose breaking it, as his head comes back up i grab him by the jacket and throw him across the parkin lot and he lands face first breaking a few teeth out. as he is spiting teeth and trying to get up i kick him, at that point my boss yells and i stop. at the time i didnt feel bad cause i was pissed, i hate liars and thieves, but as i reflected on it later i couldnt help but think he didnt deserve to have his face punched in over acouple bucks in change and a deck of cards. i didnt press charges but he ended up pissing the cops off and they hauled him off anyway. |

No, he deserved it. Don't second guess it.
|
You should have stabbed him in the face.
|
I didn't know drunks laying in vehicles had teeth.
|
I am a democrat....I woulda gave him a few bucks, patted him on the ass and sent him on his way.......

Well, if having compassion for people who are going through probably the roughest times of their lives makes you a pussy, then I am the king of the pussies. I can live with that. Can you?

I hate vagrants, **** them...Get a job or throw yourselves of a bridge. Smelly bastards. Granted (for you bleeding hearts) some of them have just fallen on rough times and can't find work but guys like this one deserved what he got. 90% are drunks or drug addicts, trust me I deal with them as part of my job quite often. |
i see no problem, and wouldn't lose sleep. drunk or sober, he should know not to steal. got what he deserved, IMO. of course i have a low tolerence of drunks, i can't stand the slurred speach, or their inability to comprehend anything. i'm all for going out and having some beers, and even the occasional sloshing, but if you're drunk enough to pass out in somebody's truck while you're robbing them, you deserve to have your face ran accross a cheese grater.

You haven't gotten old and soft. It's the Obamaffect.

you've become a kinder, gentler headstomper.

I think we all gain perspective with age.
I think you did was a natural reaction. You work hard to get what you have and you have the right to protect it and get pissed off when someone tries to take it. I think its also natural as we age that we see things differently. I know I feel guilty about a kid I beat up in Jr high over $5 taken from my wallet, and another in High school that stole clothes from me. Looking back, I didn't have much at the time, either myself or my parents had worked hard for that, and I reacted...somewhat savagely. Looking back, both of those kids probably needed it worse than I did(the stuff, not the beating). I think you should call it even. |

I'll bet if you think about it....there is some caveman instinct that feels good today, that you can still defend your cave.
|
someone passed out in YOUR vehicle stealing YOUR stuff equals azz whippin' everytime. no need to feel guilty.
|
broke into the wrong persons vehicle.
|
You did the right thing as far as I'm concerned. Nice work. :thumb:
|
I would have called the cops myself, but that's just me. I mean, unless the dude is a threat to you, IMO no need to lay down the beating. But, you are in your rights to do so. Myself personally, I don't get physical unless I or someone else is in danger. If the dude was passed out, I'd have just called the cops. If he was up and active, then I could see smacking him around to at least keep him there until the cops show up.
|
Sometimes you use it or you loose it. If you get what you want in life by being a hardass, nothing wrong with alittle brush up on smashing heads if it is within reason
|
I commend you for your courage. I also commend you for having a conscience. I would have flashed mad myself and likely reacted the same way. However, since I'm Ollie Stewart sized, I would have likely gotten my ass wooped. You know what I mean.

THAT guy is lucky it wasnt my truck, the boss yelling wouldnt have stopped me

Almost none of the homeless you see choose to live that life by virtue of laziness. That makes little sense and has little evidence to justify it. I am pretty sure it takes a hell of a lot more to be homeless than it does to get up every week day at 6am and go to work from 9 to 5. They are most likely drunks or addicts due to self medication, or they use it as a way to get out of (temporarily) the shit existence they are in. Wouldn't you drink your mind into oblivion if you were mentally troubled and unable to get/keep a job or have a dry place to sleep at night? Probably easier to pass out and piss yourself than think about everything. |
Self-realization is good and in many cases, such as this one, so are stompings.
Maybe he'll think twice before doing it next time and have something to think about next time he looks in the mirror in the meantime. |
You should have built an octogon and got it on!!

Occupational hazard of being a truck burglar. As long as you stopped before it became a Rodney King thing, it's a learning experience for the drunken criminal.
Plus, you have a personal brand that you have to reinforce to the public. And on a different note, why does my signature say I don't want pork ribs? I'm fine with getting pork ribs. |

to be honest if he would have asked me for change and i had abit to spair i would have given it to him. if he had asked while eating lunch i would have split my lunch.
ive done it before. having worked ,gone to school, and hung out here for years i understand there are diffrent types from the pathetic to the outright dangerous. From vets on hard times and those who claim to be vets so they can get a handout. had a fella tell me once he needed .50c for bus fair so he could get across town to buy a car.(ya right) to those who just need a drink and tell me so( i can understand that). |
It just means you're maturing. Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Dude was stealing and got his just due.
Also, you're an idiot for leaving your ride unsecured. Smash yourself in the face with an iron bar so you won't do that again. |
'Thanks for the ride, lady.'

This is what I was thinking. Did you leave your car unlocked? Not that being unlocked justifies it getting broke into...but it may have been enough of a deterent for the bum to move along. Just saying.... |

Welcome to the Midwest.
Ask for help, and you'll probably get it. Ask for trouble, and you'll get that too, plus a broken nose and a few less teeth. |

O.k., O.k., look, there will be nobody jerking off hogs, watching it, and giving $100 in the process. If it was a cow that might be different.

This happened to me once... story:
I was in the grocery store at age 18 with my sister in law, getting some snack food and beer. I come out of the store with a few bags of groceries in my hand, only to see my dome light on inside my car and a figure in the passenger seat. I dropped the bags to the ground and without thinking, yelled "hey you" while running towards him. As he sees me running full speed across the lot, he gets out of my car and starts running towards this piece of crap truck. As he opens the drivers side door, I jump kick him into it following instantly with a stike to the nose. He grabs his face as I start wailing on him with more shots to the face. He scratches me on the arm which causing an immense amount of blood dripping all over from me. At this point he gets his keys in the ignition and turn the truck on. With me still hanging in the door and stroking him (I had to of broke his jaw, I have seriously not even punched a bag this many times) I landed a great shot right as he threw the truck in gear. He falls over and drives right into the giant lightpole concrete base. At this point I had jumped out of the drivers side door and was watching him attempt his get-away. My sister in law was screaming the entire time.... it was pure chaos. Well he ended up driving down the street in his beat up rusted out truck with the muffler dragging... (like in the movies it seriously was causing sparks). Some dirty man, prolly in his mid thirties. For you St. Joe people this happened down at the old Green Hills on S. 22nd street. (Not the best part of town). Anyway, the dude could have had a knife or a gun, but initial reaction took over. I was young and stupid, but I do not regret it. I still wonder if that dude learned his lesson.... a wrecked truck, a broken jaw, and he actually didn't even end up stealing anything of mine. The best part was some 80 year old hunchback lady watched the whole thing and when it was all over she comes over to me and says, "wow I wouldn't **** with you." - lol I still have a 4 inch scar on my arm to this day... the bastard clawed me! |

Have you ever talked to them? The quiet smiley ones? Not the ones batting at invisible birds. I do. Some of them are just totally happy to be lazy. I'd go so far as to say many of them. $5 will feed you in any city. It'll feed you in any town. Any professional pan handler can certainly beg, scrounge, dig, search, recover $5. Hell, McDonalds trash bins will feed you and the $5 can go to a couple 40s. For some people... to wake up, eat, drink, and lounge is the perfect life. Not all homeless people are victims. The one Mohillbilly beat the shit out of included. |
Difficult to have a lot of sympathy for a thief. And hard to excuse.
Now he'll have to steal money for soft food I guess. |

With humans being such a social animals and those guys having so much time on their hands I wonder what they talk about when they get together. I can’t imagine their up on or even care for that matter about current affairs, technology, possessions, reviews, video games, golf, classes, work… Bob: you see my new box? Joe: nice Bob: think it was for a washing machine Joe: or a dryer Bob: could have been Joe: dishwasher too Bob: should last through a rainstorm or two Joe: yup Nope, can’t say I’d be too excited to be a fly on the wall during a hobo conference. |
I've never walked a mile in a hobo's shoes
I do realize none of us are more than a moment of wrong place at the wrong time away |
A lesson learned.
I'll bet this guy is sitting in a McDonalds, carefully sipping coffee he bought with the $1.23 he got in his pocket before Chuck Norris curb stomped him. He's writing a note with a borrowed pen on a napkin that says "Nowt 2 Seff. Only Wob Twucks wif Pees syn or Obama bumper stickows" |
It took me a second to figure out what pees syn was.
