So when the Jets trade into the #2 spot...

to draft Mark Sanchez, is everyone going to go nuts around here? You know St. Louis can still pick up that franchise LT at #17, and the additional picks from a potential exchange would be sweet. With Favre retiring...again...you know the Jets are going to make a move, unless they are happy with potentially drafting Freeman at #17, but I doubt that.

So, I hope that all the Sanchez/Stafford die-hards are prepping for the inevitable doom and gloom that is going to happen here in the next couple of months.

Pasta Little Brioni 02-11-2009 05:20 PM

:spock: Wow.

Delano 02-11-2009 05:21 PM

I bet they go after a free agent QB.

OnTheWarpath15 02-11-2009 05:22 PM

So, how are the Jets going to come up with 1650 in value, the equivalent to the 6th overall pick - to move up to the 2nd spot?

Their ENTIRE DRAFT is worth less than 1500 points.

By giving up next year's draft too!!!!!!!

doomy3 02-11-2009 05:23 PM

They'll probably draft Freeman at 17 and love it.

They won't need 1650 points.

The Rams are going to hire Chiefzilla to manage their draft.

ROFL

Did this dude come over from Dumbass Illustrated?

AustinChief 02-11-2009 05:36 PM

duh, this is doable...

they just need to give STL their 1,2,3 (and extra 3rd from N.O) and 4th picks THIS year and their 1,2,3,4 next year!

Easy!

What team wouldn't want the ease of only worrying about signing draft pick in the 5-7th rounds two years in a row!

The Jets don't have a 3rd but have 2 4ths.

Saccopoo 02-11-2009 05:43 PM

Although, in an effort to circumvent the nefarious New York Jets from getting our QB of the future, perhaps we could swap picks with the St. Louis Rams, giving them Tony Gonzalez or Larry Johnson for the swap...

Just a thought.

Hell, I'm an idiot. I did the math wrong.

The Rams pick at #2 is worth 2600.

The Jets could give up their entire draft and STILL be short 900 points, or the equivalent to the 18th overall pick.

You should quit thinking. You're not very good at it.

Pioli Zombie 02-11-2009 05:49 PM

The patriot way was about value. Neither stafford or sanchez is worth the third pick in the draft. Pioli will trade down. He knows how to draft. He's made a living on third and fourth round picks
So nobody panic if draft day isn't sexy. It never was in new england. Better to fill lots of needs with a drafter who knows what he's doing and sign a garcia at qb for now

It is kind of fun to think about those off the wall trades. But there have been countless points made on this forum about how it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to trade out of the third spot.

I did, and I didn't see anywhere that they dropped from 2 to 17.

Duh that's because they never had a 2. Btw the chiefs have a 3.

We know the Chiefs have a 3 dipshit. We're talking about the Jets trading to the #2 spot with the Rams.

Pioli Zombie 02-11-2009 06:11 PM

Bottom line people its about value. If sanchez or stafford aren't franchise qbs then they won't be drafted at 3. That's the main point

So if Sanchez and Stafford aren't "value" at #3......then who is in your mind?

The Jets seem more likely to trade for , say, Derek Anderson. Mangini knows the Jets roster well, he may want to trade for someone. Rex Ryan has been around Derek Anderson when he was with Baltimore. Seems like it could work.

Despite the fact that they already have 2 young QBs in Clemens and Ainge.

Why would those guys prevent you from trading for a proven QB. They had Clemens when they traded for Favre.

So you would go with Clemens?

Also, Andersons struggles had a LOT to do with his receivers dropping everything he threw.
