I saw your thread about your drums. I have a set of Sonor '60s vintage and a set of Rogers '70s vintage.

Right now I'm watching UFO stuff on the History Channel.

got one down out by the mailbox. one right off the front porch, and the last is down by the pond.(i think he's the most gamey!)

dogs are tied up and i'm going to haul off the dead.

Newfoundland is 30 min ahead of the rest of the east coast.

Either way, it should only be 3:26 there, not 4:26...

Seriously? I had no idea that time changed in 30 minute increments anywhere, those canucks sure are wacky. I better get out of here before I learn anything else.

It's an hour and a half...

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...om.html?sort=1

...maybe because we have daylight savings and Canada doesn't, because nothing grows in Canada?

That 30 minutes thing is weird though... not sure I could ever get used to that. :spock:

I'm laying on the couch wishing this flu would go away or kill me.

Worst thing is the DVR/DirecTV tuner died and we have no TV.

So it's up to you guys to entertain me.

Iowanian 02-22-2009 04:07 PM

I'm parenting while the bride is off getting a haircut with her friends or something.

The kids just got up from their short nap...I need one. I've spent more time wiping a snotty nose today than advertised in the wedding manual. The youngest has a fever again, so she's in the mood to lay around on my chest and snot on my shirt most of the day.

Watched 10,000 BC during naptime. Kindofaturd.
Blackhawk down was pissing me off, too violent anyway....so now, I'm tollerating Cinderella, again.

Its nice outside and I can't go. I could be haying cows or shooting a new tommy gun today, but I guess this is my destiny.

I didn't have any red beans but I found a bag of black beans so I'm putting them on with some smoked neck bones. Next I'm gonna open a Labatt's and fire up the grill for some bbq chicken.

The wife and daughter just left for a BD party, I'm going to have a rare 2 hours of solitude. Love my family but I'm ready to kick back on the couch, find a stupid movie and let my brain atrophy for a while.

Beer, bbq, beans and some dumbass, mindless movie. Life is good.

The afternoon that you have laid out sounds pretty nice, except I don't have much of an appetite, no fun food to cook, and no energy to cook it if I did. Already watched Pulp Fiction today. Maybe I'll throw in another movie later.

I'm watching the 1st half of the 97 playoff game against Dungver. There are a lot of references made to the Teflon Jersey incident all these years later but just seeing it fresh again; I can't BELIEVE those guys didn't get yanked from the game!

They should have been.

LMAO The officiating is just off the charts as well. I never liked that stubby little ****er of a head ref; his calls were ALWAYS shit against KC.

It's good to watch these games though, it puts a lot of things in perspective as it relates to what we're trying to build today.
Neil Smiths replacement on the other end of line was just devastating against SF and Young, and you tend to forget a lot of details as time goes by.

Hammock Parties 02-23-2009 12:46 AM

You know what strikes me, watching old games, Darth?

The game seems to have slowed down.

I've watched the 1997 Chiefs take the 44to9ers out behind the woodshed a few times...and the action in that game seems to happen so quickly compared to games I watch today.

Maybe the Chiefs just forced the 49ers to play a little faster that day.

You're right. KC Defense, and Thomas in particular, were a fast, well-oiled machine. We've got a lot of Rooks today and they look like rooks. But even then, Baltimore and Pittsburgh defensive squads both looked like they were molasses compared to the old days.
I blame the collages. I don't know what it is, but the overall level of talent has dropped considerably in the last 10 years.
With the exception of TP in Pittsburgh, I don't see a lot of guys on defense these days that would give an O-Coord ulcers.

It's a shame.

Hammock Parties 02-23-2009 01:02 AM

I think the rules changes oriented towards the passing game have made a difference too.

Makes you really appreciate some of the great offenses of the 90s, i.e. the 1994 49ers.

And it's going to get worse. I don't have a problem with the ongoing cycle of run offense, then pass offense, then run offense etc. That's been going on for years.

But this Spread thing, so popular in college, is regressing EVERYONE on the offensive side of the ball. As I watch this game, I know without a doubt that the 97 Chiefs Defense would absolutely THROTTLE any 2008 offense, and make them look so ****ing bad they'd be run out of town.

And this game I'm watching should be MANDATORY VIEWING for any member of this forum who believes that a stellar defense and a "good enough" Quarterback are going to get you to a Championship.

ROFL Smith was "strip" before strip was cool! I remember seeing that shit for the first time and being like, "what is this shit"?! "Is that a band-aid on his ****in' nose"? "What the ****s goin' on here"?

In this game, he's sporting his custom blue and orange model, "The Pimp Strip"!

We also lost a good defensive lineman to that Denver squad too. His mom died two days before the game, and he's tearing it up as well.
