If I were Scott Pioli.....

Last free agents I would sign if I was Pioli

1. TJ Hooshyamama if he's still available
2. Igor Olshansky
3. Marc Columbo
4. Derrick Ward
5. Leigh Bodden

your thoughts

Mecca 02-28-2009 10:44 PM

Marc Columbo is not a free agent.

thread over- move along folks nothing to see here

journeyscarab 02-28-2009 10:45 PM

it says on free agent tracker on nfl.com

Deberg_1990 02-28-2009 10:45 PM

If we are keeping LJ, why sign Ward?

Mecca 02-28-2009 10:46 PM

I don't know why anyone would sign a RB to begin with seeing as you can draft guys late that can play.

journeyscarab 02-28-2009 10:46 PM

cut smith and whatever running backs are left...make LJ be 3rd stringer

An 8 million dollar 3 stringer with an attitude problem...brilliant.

Is Olshansky a RFA? If not I'm sorta surprised he hasn't gotten signed by someone yet. I don't think he'll break the bank but he seems like a guy a lot of teams would be looking at.

He is a UFA as he reached incentives in his contract with San Diego that allowed him to opt out of it early.

So whats your take on the whole Cassel thing? It's probably in a thread some where but I haven't seen it yet tonight. At least you got a USC boy, right?

I'm not overly thrilled....atleast it wasn't the 1st pick that's all I can really say.

Honestly I'm annoyed more at people that want to draft Michael Crabtree.

Thank you. I'd like to see us at least kick his tires.

I think its a good deal. Especially only giving up the 2nd.

IM just not sure if Cassels upside is a Trent Green/Hasselback type or an Elvis Grbac?

But overall, im satisfied with it. Pioli obviously has a plan.

Agreed on Crabtree! I do think Cassel is a system QB but since we are running that system He's worth a shot. I don't mind the pick we gave. That being said I would be pissed if it was the first rounder. At least we have a legit NFL caliber QB, course we're gonna need another as a backup cause croyle and thigpen should be working at sears and not playing pro ball. It's at least making things exciting.

I just get really tired of rationally explaining to someone why that is not a good pick and they just ignore it like they don't have a brain, happens with Aaron Curry too.

Well people get there crushes on here real bad. I have no idea why any one would want Cato June with the #3 pick over all either because that is who Curry is.

This is my opinion since it looks like we're going to be a 3-4 team here are their options...

Stay put and take Raji, drop a few spots get the 2 back hope Raji is still there or target a LB like Maualuga, Maualuga is a better fit for the inside 3-4 position than Curry is because of his size and demeanor.

I don't know who they are going to take but I think it's becoming more and more likely they'll trade down If they can find someone to trade with.

If they can't find someone to trade with which I still think will be hard to do there is going to be an issue.

Because 3 is really high for Raji, and there's just no need to take Curry because in a 3-4 he's a MLB and he isn't really worth that pick there.

Agreed. We are in a shitty spot right now. I'm just hoping we can take advantage of some team in a full on draft day panic, it's really the only hope we have of moving down. If we can move that pick it won't be until we only have 30 seconds left to put in the card.
