Nice! He'll be great with Hasselbeck.

Buck 03-02-2009 05:00 PM

Congrats.

Whats your QB Situation up there? Hasselback still there?

Hahaha yup, figured that out about 30 seconds later.

No crabs for the chickens which reduces the chance of trade down for us.

Clayton confirms.

Buckin,
Yeah we still Have Hasselback, He missed most of last year with a back thing, but he's supposedly 100% now..

doomy3 03-02-2009 05:05 PM

Good signing for the Seahawks.

5 years 40 Million with 15 guaranteed

The Franchise 03-02-2009 05:07 PM

Crabtree begins his descent.

Actually, I think this helps us. With the addition of Houshmazilli, the only two positions I can see them going is LT or QB.

If someone wants one of the QB's, they may have to jump ahead of Seattle to get one.

No one was going to jump Seattle for fear they'd take Crabtree.

Iowanian 03-02-2009 05:08 PM

I kind of thought he might go to Minnesota. Hoosyerdaddy and a QB might make them a contender.

nice pick up.

I was going to post this too. I could definitely see Seattle wanting to grab a QB to sit a couple years behind Hasselbeck.

Sam Hall 03-02-2009 05:13 PM

It wouldn't take much for the Seahawks to get into the playoffs. Their bad season came out of nowhere.

I actually think we might be in a better position to trade down regardless.

If the Lions take Stafford, then there might be teams that are looking for a LT that want to jump Seattle.

However, if Detroit passes on Stafford, I can't see Seattle doing the same - so someone wanting Stafford would have to jump Seattle to get him.

With this signing, Seattle has shown their cards, IMO.

If Stafford is available, they take him.

If he's not, they take whoever is left of Monroe/Smith.

Those "back things" are a problem that just keeps happening over and over again once they are started. That would me my concern. If he is out you have Seneca Thigpen back there.

Yeah, the back does concern me, but if Hass stays healthy he's a damn good one.. Seneca actually did fine last year considering our entire o-line were backups.. It was an extremely weird year as far as injuries are concerned.. I think we set a record for most guys on IR..

That seems like a fairly reasonable contract considering how high the numbers are floating around this year.

BradyFTW! 03-02-2009 05:20 PM

I doubt the seahawks will take a QB in the first round. The Packers route is an unusual one. Seattle's close enough to being a playoff team that IMO it's more likely that it takes someone that can help right away.

So, you don't think Seattle would want Sanchez?

Don't know.

Based on how everyone else is grading the QB's, I can only assume that if Stafford is there, they'll take him.

It really doesn't matter anyway in this scenario, the team trading with us to jump Seattle is doing so to make sure they get THEIR QB. They're not going to know which one Seattle is targeting.

Rudy tossed tigger's salad 03-02-2009 05:28 PM

hopefully this means Seattle will look hard at OT leaving some teams to believe they need to jump ahead of them to Grab Smith/Monroe (whoever St. Louis doesn't grab)....

The Packers route?

What are you talking about?

Hasselbeck has a year left. Maybe.

Favre still had a TON of gas left in the tank when they took Rodgers. They took him because he was too good a value to pass up.

The Packers route is taking a QB in the first round knowing that he'll be sitting for multiple years. Hasselbeck is 33, his back is reportedly healed, and he is exactly one year removed from throwing for 4000 yards and 28 TDs. You can claim that you know that Hasselbeck has 'maybe' a year left, but you really have no idea one way or the other. Seattle's close enough to being a good team that it'll take someone that can help this year with the pick.

What do the Packers have to do with anything?

Holmgren's gone.

Have you ever had an back injury?

Apparently not, by the way you are speaking.

Even if he played 2 more years, Stafford would be 23, and you have your QBOTF.

But go ahead, think about THIS year like everyone else around here does.

The draft is about building for your FUTURE.

Not building to be competitive for 2009 alone.

Micjones 03-02-2009 05:56 PM

Congrats to Seattle for signing him.
Hopefully this makes trading down even more feasible for this team.

DaneMcCloud 03-02-2009 05:57 PM

They signed him because Crabtree's a phony

eazyb81 03-02-2009 06:05 PM

Compliments my Eugene Monroe pick perfectly.

Hass may still have a few years left in his tank now.

Looks like Seattle won't be taking Crabtree then. Looks like they went the safe right also.

Well said BradyFTW.. I'm thinking the Hawks will probably draft o-line with the 3rd overall, although i don't think it would be a horrible pick take one of the QB's. (if they feel he's a top 5 talent) I like that we signed housh and Cole so we don't have to draft for need, If there's a guy there that our scouts feel is a top 5 talent in any year they'll take him, had we not signed housh, I'm thinking Crabtree would have been our guy. Who knows? Maybe he still is..

You can never have too many Corners or DE's though so we'll see.
