Players the Chiefs have talked to
Roger Allen, OG, Missouri Western PW
Jason Williams, OLB, Western Illinois APD Nathan Brown, QB, Central Arkansas I Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC I Mike Wallace, WR, Ole Miss I Pat White, QB, West Virginia I Brian Cushing, OLB, USC I Keenan Lewis, CB, Oregon State I http://www.newerascouting.com/nfl-team-interest/ |
So either we've talked to no one that is worth the #3 pick or they aren't saying anything about it. The latter makes more sense.

I keep seeing Z. Follett's name keep coming up. Yah boy. That kid can play. I can see him excelling in the pros-he's a headhunter. Damn, I hope we get a shot a drafting him.

I like that we're looking at Pat White too. Provided he can be had in the later rounds, he presents a potential to create some unique mismatches 3 or 4 times a game. |
BENGALS WORK OUT ABILENE CHRISTIAN QUARTERBCK
Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 11, 2009, 9:53 a.m. Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese worked out Abilene Christian quarterback Billy Don Malone this week, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com. A 26-year-old Division II star, Malone passed for 34 touchdowns and 2,944 yards last season. He only threw six interceptions. Malone began his collegiate career at Tulane in 2002 as a blue-chip recruit who turned down offers from Texas, Tennessee and LSU. According to a New York Times article, Malone had issues at Tulane, including a heart problem, a marijuana habit and a low grade point average. Since leaving Tulane, Malone has found religion, gotten married and is the father of two children. At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Malone has ideal pro size and a strong arm. ---- I think he could be an interesting pickup later in the draft. |
I think Chase Holbrook out of New Mexico is a very intriquing prospect. He has everything you look for in a QB, he just had no supporting cast. He'll be a late round pick, that could actually turn into a quality QB.

Do they have to report any interaction with the players??

Sweet! I really hope we find a way to bring Roger Allen to KC. He is a friend of mine, but more importantly he is a great guy, hard worker, team player, and a home town kid from Raytown (not too far from the stadium at all)! I would love to see him busting skulls for the Chiefs some day. He would too!

He has a lot of physical skills, but folds under pressure. Well, he only faced pressure in exactly one game last season, anyway, and he folded. |

I think Tom Brandstater of Fresno St. is a Pioli type of pick as a mid to late rd qb prospect. Just from his size 6'4 or bigger 225# or so. Doesn't hurt Pat Hill is the HC, a former BB assistant.

We have our late-round QB prospect with the tools who just needs some time in the NFL to adjust. His name is Brodie Croyle, his strength can be improved so his durability can be improved. I remember reading a quote from a scout saying they don't worry about strength because they can fix it later on.

Ultimately, though, Malone had a WR that could be a 6th or 7th round pick in Johnny Knox. AND he had RB Bernard Scott, a freak of nature at the D2 level, and a probable 5th round draft pick. |

He struck me as a guy who tackled well and so badly wanted to get a big hit that he was over aggressive. I just don't see a whole lot of upside either because he's a guy who is physically maxed out and has more or less worked into what he as as opposed to be a top notch athlete. I think he'll be a good special teams player but I don't think he's athletic enough to be a good starter on the NFL level, like Scott McKilop same kinda deal. |

You're such a ****ing douche. I'm tired of your bullshit takes on college players that are really just plagiarized opinions from draft websites. You consistently talk out of both sides of your mouth, and despite what the reeruns that hang on you around here say, you're not any more right than anyone else. JFC i'll be glad when the draft is over so you can stop acting like you know what the **** you're talking about and get back to hating the Chiefs. |
Great, don't read what I post then if it bugs you that much.
Sorry I will always prefer speed and natural athleticism to guys who work hard but aren't naturally gifted. |

I'm talking about transitioning to the next level...for the NFL he isn't very athletic.

But hey, guys with great athleticism and no work ethic outside the gym work out well too! (see Gholston)

Zach Follet @ draftcountdown Weaknesses: Just average size and bulk...Stiff and not a great athlete...Doesn't play real fast...Has some health and durability concerns...Sub par change of direction skills...Too aggressive at times...Lacks fluid hips...A liability in coverage...Marginal ball skills...Struggles in space ... Limited upside. Come up with that all by yourself did ya? |

Anyone who ever watched more than a highlight vid could tell he wasn't overly athletic...and teams pick on him in the passing game.
I really don't understand the obsession with hard workers, if the guy works hard thats nice but generally they do need you know talent. |
He's an explosive hitter and makes plays. He's more than a hard worker. He's not Maslowski.

bump

I have to say I like his motor and i think he has NFL skills. Aaron Curry's highlight reel should look so good. :)
|
Follet is a player. He is not the same level of player as say, Scott Fujita, also from Cal, but he could be a killer on special teams for someone and might develop into a situational player given his intensity and instincts. I like both him and Mortty Ivy from WVU as a later round LB pick for the Chiefs. They both play the same position and have the same skill sets. Intense with a nose for the ball and can be spot fillers at any linebacker position along with good special teams potential.

The Kansas City Chiefs have showed tremendous interest in ex-Ball State star Darius Hill. Their offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach have worked out the pass-catching tight end. |

that's corect |
The Chiefs did supposedly talk to Nate Davis around combine time. Is it possible they were just fishing for information about Darius Hill from his QB?

Nice DV thought! |
If we got Follett what position would he play? ILB or OLB? He seems to have the typical size of an ILB at 6'1" 240lbs.

Does Talking to them Mean Anything?
Does anyone have any information about how often the Pats actually talked to the guys they were looking at drafting?
|
Teams will often interview players that other teams in their conference are likely to draft to find out things about them.
