FAA Certified Flight Instructor...

I teach people how to fly and not drill themselves into Corn rows.... It is very challenging and exciting at times, other times I fight to keep awake.

I teach ground school/classroom lessons as well...

I teach 7th and 8th grade science.
I'm Biology and General Science certified in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

I love most of what my job entails, love working with the kids. Hate the laziness that has grabbed hold of young America. Really hate the pettiness, rumor mills, political BS, and general unprofessional behavior of some teachers.

Rain Man 03-22-2009 09:05 PM

I've taught four semesters of market research for a local graduate school's public relations program the last two years. Does that count?

Wait a minute. I can guess this. You teach five year-old beaty contestants how to twirl batons?

Delano 03-22-2009 09:32 PM

I am not a teacher but I love banging chalk board erasers together.

DeezNutz 03-22-2009 09:33 PM

As a follow up, please note whether or not you like to bang your students.

Thanks.

Learning to fly is actually something I've wanted to do. I looked into pricing and how it works a couple months ago. Being a college student and all, it's a little pricey for me now. Hopefully, whenever I start my career I'll be able to start lessons.

One of the teachers did just that my Senior year. He had just graduated and it was his first job, he knew he was leaving that school after the year and went to town. He was more like one of the guys than a teacher lol. The worst thing about it is he got another teacher, and a student pregnant in the span of like a month. (the student was just after graduation)

The Bad Guy 03-23-2009 05:01 AM

5th and 6th grade special education teacher.

Hound333 03-23-2009 05:46 AM

I teach Health/Physical Education. 2/3 of my classes are Health. I am also certified to teach the sciences (shhh don't tell anyone because the district will make me switch)

On a side note for most of the general population the age of consent in Kansas is 16. If you are 50 and want to bang a 16 year old go ahead. Unless you are their boss at work or a teacher that is. I think there are a few other jobs where its illegal as well. I don't know all of them though. I am not looking forward to my daughter turning 16, even if its not for 10 years.

pr_capone 03-23-2009 07:19 AM

hi ho... hi ho... its off to work I go

You teach ACORN foot soldiers how to convince convicts, illegal immigrants and cartoon characters to register to vote, don't you? :p

oldandslow 03-23-2009 09:55 AM

Been a specie of teacher my whole adult life, except for the years given to Uncle Sam.

Taught in Middle School, High School, and 2 research universities.

Let me be the first to say that once you gain tenure at the university level, life is wonderfully pleasant. Mine certainly is. I teach a couple of classes per semester, and perform research. They pay me really well to do this.

Much better than public school.

However, only about half (or less) get tenure. Last year at my university less than 25% of the applicants made it. Publish or perish can be an evil paradigm.
