Wow. Great fit for Chicago. Great fit for the Chiefs.

Pitt Gorilla 04-02-2009 03:20 PM

This really is awesome. With one trade, Pioli screws up Denver.

CrazyPhuD 04-02-2009 03:22 PM

straight trade for grossman?

OnTheWarpath15 04-02-2009 03:22 PM

The Donks are forced to use those 2 picks (12 and 18) to move up.

If they walk away without Stafford or Sanchez, they are royally screwed.

LMAO (Eisen just mentioned Orton...)

Coogs 04-02-2009 03:22 PM

No terms announced yet according to NFL Network. They are talking about it live. Sun times says 2009 18th and the first round in 2010 and 3rd round this year and Kyle Orton.

Stinger 04-02-2009 03:22 PM

Details?????????????

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/footb...040209.article

The Bears acquired quarterback Jay Cutler today for No. 1 draft picks in 2009 and 2010, a No. 3 pick this year and Kyle Orton, the Sun-Times has learned.
The Bears receive the Broncos' fifth-round draft pick this year.

Cutler, 25, is coming off a Pro Bowl season with the Broncos, but he became disgruntled and wanted a trade after learning Denver was considering a deal for quarterback Matt Cassel.

Shag 04-02-2009 03:24 PM

The Bears? Who the hell is going to play QB for the Donks? Kyle Orton? ROFL

Wonder if they'll try and package both their #1s to move up to take Stafford/Sanchez...

seaofred 04-02-2009 03:25 PM

WOW!! They screwed Da Bears!

Hammock Parties 04-02-2009 03:25 PM

The Donks are gonna have to scramble to get a high enough pick to get Sanchez/Stafford.

XXXshogunXXX 04-02-2009 03:25 PM

man..that kinda sucks. I wanted Cutler to stay. He always played like a girl against us.

That is a ****ing haul. I wonder what the people on here who were saying that Cutler wasn't worth Cassel believe now?

NFC North is weak, good move for the Bears, I think.

You might want to check the game logs again.

Frazod 04-02-2009 03:26 PM

Orton will be their stop gap QB (and a poor one at that), but they'll obviously have to make a move to get Stafford or Sanchez.

And as such, we are shown the difference between a franchise quarterback (two firsts, a third, and a game manager) and a system quarterback (a second).

This. I'm not so thrilled now about the whole situation, Denver really got over on them IMO. Orton played pretty decent at times last year with a who's who of recievers in Chicago. Denver has a ton of picks now.

If Detroit takes a Qb...now I almost hope the Chiefs DO take a Qb just to put the pipe to Denver....as they obviously value QBs pretty highly.

Reaper16 04-02-2009 03:29 PM

God damn, that's some strong smelling desperation coming out of the Windy City. Denver got a boat-load of stuff for Cutler.

Not unless they get some WRs for Cutler to throw to. I'd say they're more a serious contender to win the NFC North right now (which isn't saying all that much)...

No Detriot, No snagging of the better QB(s).

Thank you Chicago! Who loves ya' baby!

Iowanian 04-02-2009 03:30 PM

The part that sucks for me, is Orton is an Iowa born guy and I'd like to root for him...No he's a donkey, I think I'll drive over and egg his parents house.

If they get anything out of Chris Williams at LT next year, that is one of the top 3 teams in the NFC.

They just got a franchise QB, a commodity that they haven't had since Sid ****ing Luckman, and he's pretty much a local (Santa Claus, IN), and he's on a very reasonable contract.

Like I said the other day, average NFL fan is dumb.

Wow. They should go to prison for that.

Regardless of his attitude, he is a young Pro-Bowl QB. Two mid-to-late firsts and a 3rd (with a 5th going to the Bears) doesn't sound unreasonable.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking #1 - more like the 3-5 range. I'd still be surprised if division rivals agreed to such a blockbuster trade...

Deberg_1990 04-02-2009 03:31 PM

Obviously the Bears are expecting next years 1st rounder to be low. If that turns out to be the case, they really didnt give up much for a franchise QB.

Buck 04-02-2009 03:31 PM

Damnit.

The AFC West doesn't play the NFC North again until 2011.
