Pre-draft How many games will the Chiefs win in 2009?

I'm just wondering how much peoples minds change thru the off-season. I will post another thread after the draft to give people a chance to change their minds.

Bugeater 04-24-2009 11:55 PM

19-0

Kyle DeLexus 04-24-2009 11:57 PM

4-5 wins. I'm going to say 4 is most likely and 5 if we get lucky in a game.

Tribal Warfare 04-24-2009 11:59 PM

my conservative estimate for KC's record is 6-10, and of course will be picking in the top 10 again next year.

A little early, Mr. acesn8s, but a good question, nonetheless. Some peeps call my system infallible. Personally, I just think of it as FAXiomatic.

Halfass good quarterback = 2 wins.
Guys off street = 2 wins.
Pioli magic = 2 wins.
Haley twisting key player's nuts = 1 win.
Haley punching out key player. = minus 2 wins.
Suck schedule = minus 2 wins.
No Gunther = 1 win.
No TG in the house = minus 1 win.
Funny ball bounce = 1 win.
Not so funny ball bounce = minus 1 win.

3 and 13.

I say 5, if they're lucky. That's a tough schedule.

Jethopper 04-25-2009 06:29 AM

Wow this fan base is ..... Wow.

htismaqe 04-25-2009 06:32 AM

I think we go 7-9. I think a new attitude and better coaching alone gets us a couple more wins, maybe 3. And the overall talent will improve enough to win another 2.

milkman 04-25-2009 06:49 AM

5 wins.

tmax63 04-25-2009 07:19 AM

I call 5 wins, enough to show improvement but with a brutal schedule they can only go so far. It's hard to fix 5 yrs worth of screw-ups in 1 offseason but I think they do enough to show they're on the right track.

Dave Lane 04-25-2009 07:39 AM

No way this team is already much better than last year and the subtraction of ****er and Herm is HUGE. That alone would have gotten us 3 extra wins last year. Barring massive injuries 8-8 is quite realistic. We have the talent for a 6-10 or better team last year. The new regime will kick the malcontents asses and get them to work together and they are determined to win now.

Spott 04-25-2009 07:42 AM

1-15

Agreed...and we could make history and win a sucky division and make the playoffs with a losing record. LOL, now that would be hilarious. Sorry Tony G.

Craqhead 04-25-2009 07:46 AM

6-10... As many wins this coming season as we had the last two years combined.

Really depends on what trades Pioli and crew make.

I think Tony G will be alright when Atlanta wins their division this year and does it with a winning record.

Coogs 04-25-2009 07:56 AM

9-7

5-1 vs the AFC West
2-2 vs the NFC East (Dallas, Washington)
1-3 vs AFC North (Cleveland)
1-1 vs rest (Buffalo)

As much as I like Tony and want him to be on a good team I hope next year Atlanta goes 0-16... our 2nd becomes like a 1st :)

It's gonna be very tough to win 7 with the schedule the way it is. I think the 3 wins you mention is more likely. At least we don't have to look at Herm ever week...

Sure-Oz 04-25-2009 08:10 AM

DTLB58 04-25-2009 08:12 AM

I said 6 the day the schedule came out. With half of our season total coming in December.

We'll win more than 3. Attitude and chemistry are a bigger part of winning than people want to admit. We'll win at least 5 on that alone.

And if we upgrade a couple of positions in the draft, there's a couple more, for a total of 7.

BigVE 04-25-2009 08:20 AM

Heck, look at how many games were lost by 7pts or less last year. We have already upgraded at HC and DC, leadership appears to be much better too. Things are looking up. 7-9 with a whole new staff and a super tough schedule will be a good season.

It's April! What the heck. Why not be optimistic?

Denver is in disarray. So is Oakland.

If you can't be optimistic in April, then when can you be?

acesn8s 04-25-2009 08:50 AM

It looks like most people are right around 5 wins. An improvment of 3 wins. :thumb:

I chose 7 for these reasons.

I think if you put this front office and coaching staff in charge starting on the day after last year's draft, they would have won in the 4-5 range.

With the loser hierarchy gone, thinking just of the roster, 7 wins is only a 2 or 3 game improvement.

Thats also on a weaker schedule last year. Our schedule is brutal, I don't see us winning more than 5 with 4 being more likely

Hydrae 04-25-2009 10:20 AM

Matching the total from the last two seasons - 6 wins

KcFanInGA 04-25-2009 11:05 AM

8 to 10 wins. Try a little hope people.

I don't buy the schedule excuse.

Two of the 3 worst teams in the league in 2007 made the playoffs last year.

There's so much parity in the league that schedule strength from year-to-year goes out the window.
