Chiefshrink 04-28-2009 01:30 PM

Standing long jump is almost out of the box. This kid could be the defensive version of Larry Fitzgerald. Great explosion!!!

Pablo 04-28-2009 01:34 PM

Damn..dude pivots pretty fuckin nice..and he's got hops.

Johnny Vegas 04-28-2009 01:34 PM

Good value pick. This guy has the potential to put Carr in the nickel spot.

Yep..I gotta say with Flowers, Carr, Leggett, and now Washington in the DB position I'm pretty excited about the potential talent at the DB position for the next 6-10 years.

He could certainly contend for a starting spot with athletic ability like that.

Think he was a bit of an under-producer at OSU...didn't really live up to expectations.

That's great hopefully they can hold coverage for the 15 to 20 seconds it takes our line to get pressure on the QB........

If we don't get pressure it is a moot point..

DaneMcCloud 04-28-2009 01:47 PM

Let's just hope he doesn't make Westport and The Plaza his number one priority.

Well hopefully it translates onto the field.. Bigger WR should be able to push him around at his size, so he will have to use his intangibles to get around that..

I think we are going to get more pressure than we did last year. If Vrabel is healthy, he can pull 9 sacks, and generate pressure. Hopefully someone else will emerge in our new scheme.

Mr. Arrowhead 04-28-2009 01:55 PM

Hes a champ bailey type of corner athletically, he just prolly needs a year to develop. This could end up being one of our better picks

I haven't been overly impressed with Carr. I could see Washington supplanting him if his measurables transfer to the field....

Direckshun 04-28-2009 02:02 PM

Good ****ing lord, that's outrageous.

Anybody else see how he just floats in the air at the end of that final drill?

He's raw and undisciplined. So much so that he got benched while at tOSU. I think he's a great prospect, perhaps even a potential #1 CB in the league, but not right away.

Maybe they didn't throw to his side so much.? I really don't know.

MOhillbilly 04-28-2009 02:29 PM

my uncle related me a story about when the titans drafted jevon kearse. said when kearse came into the workout room one of the coaches aske how high his vert. was. kearse replied how high is the drop ceiling, steve waters said it was about 12 ft. kearse palmed it.

gta0012 04-28-2009 02:30 PM

Wow. I really like this guy. Hopefully we can develop him. Our DB's are nasty. I'm actually getting excited about the youth on this team. We'll have to see how this draft class pans out.

Our talent level isn't going to be significantly different this year. It will be a good experiment about coaching vrs talent.

true but i got the feel that the D was was just as tired of gun as the fans. like a black fog over the team.

Our talent wasn't terrible last year, the coaching was. Jackson, Magee, Washington, Daniels, Thomas, Vrabel, Robertson, Mays, and Beisel are pretty big upgrades over what we had too.

I think it hinges on the transition to a 3-4. We have some leadership now with Vrabel and Thomas. Hopefully DJ plays to his potential and the guys on our line spend more time on the opposing teams line of scrimmage.

its why i said by mid season. it also depends on how the offense does throwing the ball. if the O is something crazy like top ten/five itll hurt the Ds numbers. i agree though there is some leadership in place and a new start gets everybody amped.

I think KC will suprise some people this next year.

I could live with saying the talent level might be the same or slightly higher than last year. However, I think there will be improvement because the rookies last year will have had an entire offseason to condition themselves and hopefully they learned to apply their talent (albeit marginal in some cases) better than last year as rookies.

I also think having the likes of Thomas and Vrabel on the field will help. I see improvement happening.

I think this team will be much different. Think about it. We have two new starting linebackers, our top backup (Beisel) is new.

Chiefs have two new defensive linemen. Plus, the biggest part of it all will be experience. Dorsey, Flowers and Carr, all legitamite starters last year, will be much better.

There are still many questions, but tons of reasons for optimism too.

HEY... the Chiefs IMPROVED over the last season... they sucked less at the end of the season than they sucked at the beginning... still sucked.... but less.

I know people don't like the thought of going 8-8, but I learned my lesson on Saturday - we DO NOT WANT to ever pick in the Top 5 again.

I have this team going 7-9. I think a change in attitude and better coaching, along with the subtle talent upgrades we've made, are good for 4-5 more wins. I think we NEED to win at least 6 games to avoid the shitty scenario we had this year.

Unless we need a Franchise QB or a LT. Which we don't.

I'd like to think the Chiefs can win 7 games next year, but the schedule is just brutal, and we're going to be implementing all new offensive and defensive schemes with a totally new staff and a host of new players. I'm going to stay cautiously optomistic, and go with 5-11, hoping for 7-9.

He's a hard worker and a smart player, but that will only take you so far. I said it the minute they drafted Washington - there's one thing on his bio that stands out against the other guys on the roster.

He's a legitimate 6' tall.

I'm a little bit concerned that the new GM and coaching staff have some "things" in their profile that they're going to stick to regardless of whether or not they make much sense.

Best case scenario, these guys win 6 games.

But if I were predicting right now, I'd say 4 wins.

We had needs at pretty much every position this last draft and it was still a problem. It's no longer about need - the salaries are so out of control that it's just not worth it.

I don't put in any stock in schedules anymore. Every year there's a half dozen or more teams that dramatically underperform or overperform compared to expectations.

Yea he was, he lived in Malcolm Jenkins shadow. Donald is a ridiculous athlete, and should definetely bump Carr out of his spot. He is a little unpolished but has all the tools necessary to be a very good player in the NFL.

Beisel was here once and he sucked. I cant see how people think he's going to do any better this time around.

Not when you have a weak top 1st rd which is what I've been saying all along.

We needed to trade down and didn't because others didn't think anyone was really worth #3 money.

There wasn't a Mario Williams, Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson, anyone like that in this seasons draft. I mean Aaron Curry was listed as the best draft prospect for crying out loud.

I don't know about that. Many times there are elite skill type players to be had in the top 5. This year's draft just sucked. Beside i think the next CBA contains some kind of rookie pay scale which will make the top 8 draft picks much easier to deal with and much more valuable in terms of trading.

Sweet Daddy Hate 04-29-2009 04:19 PM

That'll definitely work.

The next CBA won't contain any such thing. The players aren't just gonna cave like everybody thinks they will. They already get far less of the cut than players in other sports.

Next year's rookie salaries stand to be even worse than this year's.

I disagree. I don't think any veteran likes seeing a first day employee making more than they do. Next years rookies are not a part of the players union. Who's going to speak on their behalf?

The less money that is spent on rookies, the more that can go to veterans.

The players want a bigger cut of the pie - the vets don't want to take money from the rookies, they want to take it from the OWNERS. And if you don't think veterans use rookie salaries as a bargaining tool, you're kidding yourself. If less money is spent on rookies, the vets lose part of their leverage for bigger contracts.

I laugh every time I read about how "difficult" or "easy" someone's schedule is the next year. Injuries, player development, player regression and coaching changes will cause dramatic changes like they do every year.

Some of the scouting reports listed him as a safety.

As do I, but you have to admit - at first glance, this years schedule looks hellish.

Injuries or not I'm also an eagles fan and the NFC is never an easy division to play.

It might have to do with Ohio St's TOP. Maybe the defense wasn't on the field as long. Who knows? And as someone mentioned maybe they stayed away from him.
