Cards Release Edgerin James

just reported on ESPN...

Hootie 04-28-2009 04:41 PM

sign him and Shaun Alexander and boom!

wild1 04-28-2009 04:41 PM

bring him in for a look, see what he's got left in the tank!

Mile High Mania 04-28-2009 04:41 PM

He'll be a hell of an addition for the right team... and one hell of an addition for one of the top contenders.

talastan 04-28-2009 04:42 PM

Nope, don't see the Edge as a Pioli player. Too much ego and we already have that with LJ.

Brng him in for a look and print 'em.

Brock 04-28-2009 04:42 PM

Bring him in, show LJ the ropes?

LaChapelle 04-28-2009 04:44 PM

Ship 'em

RedThat 04-28-2009 04:44 PM

Were fine at RB....we have Jamaal Charles, kolby Smith, LJ, and Javarrius Williams. Thats A LOT of depth.

veist 04-28-2009 04:47 PM

In move surprising nobody other than in how long it took to actually happen.

LMAO

Smith's coming off of an ACL, Charles had hamstring issues all last season (and only carried the ball 67 times), LJ is LJ and Williams is a D-IA rookie.

I'm not advocating James but to say that the Chiefs have a "lot of depth" is a big-time over-statement.

Thig Lyfe 04-28-2009 04:48 PM

BUT WHAT ABOUT BOLDIN

booger 04-28-2009 04:54 PM

Cards also cut defensive end/linebacker Travis LaBoy and cornerback Rod Hood per PFT/rumor mill.

RustShack 04-28-2009 04:55 PM

LaBoy will be a Chief.

CrazyPhuD 04-28-2009 05:05 PM

Print To the Antifreeze Em lost it's burt.

Brock 04-28-2009 05:07 PM

Laboy's a good pickup, IMO.

His salary way outperforms his performance on the field, they were uncomfortably up on the salary cap. Cap it off he's a RB on the wrong side of 30 and he was thoroughly expendable. Most thought he'd be gone before draft day everyone knew he'd be gone at the latest shortly after draft day when they had to dump salary so they can sign their rooks.

Durability may be an issue but were talking about the most physical position in all of pro football. Your chances of getting hurt are far greater then other positions

Im optimistic about our RB situation. I look at it in a positive way. Our backs got hurt but Im not counting that they can't bounce back and rebound strong they all have potential to be good backs.

I like him. I think he can get to the quarterback.

Mr. Krab 04-28-2009 05:22 PM

no thanks.

Hes an upgrade at OLB over Hali and McBride.

vailpass 04-28-2009 05:24 PM

I hope Edge catches on somewhere, I feel bad for him.
All last season he would return to Miami whenever the Cards had a day or two off.
Everyone assumed he was headin' back to the hood to party with his boys from the U. Edge never said different.

Turns out he was going back to be with the mother of his 4 children as she battled Leukemia.
She died a couple weeks ago at the age of 30.

It's FAR from a position of strength.

You act as if the Chiefs have the 2008 NY Giants backfield.

They have an OLD RB, a guy coming off of ACL injury (that had little speed to begin with), a second year Texas player who was often injured and a D-IA, 7th round pick.

They may perform well. But let's not pretend the Chiefs have LT, Sproles and Michael Turner on the roster.

Archie Bunker 04-28-2009 05:35 PM

LaBoy would make a lot of sense.

Gravedigger 04-28-2009 06:03 PM

NO! Edgerrin James is horrible, I refuse to have him on a team. Everyone always gave him props as some sort of great running back but he was a product of a Colts system that had an exceptional OLine and he hasn't done shit since then. He's in the same column as Lamont Jordan.

OnTheWarpath15 04-28-2009 06:04 PM

Our RB situation is pretty dicey, but I'm not sure how James would help the situation.

He'd just be another question mark in a backfield already full of question marks.

Chiefaholic 04-28-2009 06:29 PM

Include LJ in the trade of picks for Boldin and we're set

Sure, that 1st round pick they just spent on Beanie Wells wasn't important anyway...

Im not trying to act as if the Chiefs have a backfield of that caliber?

THAT is what you think and it is a false impression on your part.

All I was trying to get at was that I think LJ, Charles, and K.Smith can play imo. It is not the best or most respected RB tandem in the league by any means, Im not ruling them out, however, I think they are capable of contributing to this team to helping our offense in a lot of ways. Lets see how these guys perform under a better coach.

Yeah, we'd be set up for failure. Look, LJ has at least been showing up and contributing, let's see what Haley can get outta him. And he is our best running back, and still one of the leagues best, not in stats but in ability. Whose gonna run it, Charles? He's fast, but not where he needs to be yet. Whether we love or hate him, LJ will be our starter this year IMHO.

RJ 04-28-2009 07:22 PM

Edge can not play the 5 technique.

Insert favorite insult toward yourself here.
