Competent backup. Shame there's no competent starter in place.

THE SHIP IS DONE!!!!!
|
I wouldn't expect him to be anything more than a backup here.
He struggled quite a bit in Cincy last year. Tends to have trouble with bigger DT's. Has bad feet. Meh... |
He can't snap it AND catch it.

THEE Eric Ghiaciuc?

All joking aside, this guy started 41 games over the past 3 years. Should be good competition in training camp!

I'm having a Ghiaciuc jersey custom made tomorrow. It's going to be great. If it's spelled wrong, nobody will know.

Well - I like that we're not just going into the season with Niswanger.
Maybe our OL coaches can make something out of him. |

A viewpoint from a Bengals fan:
http://stripehype.com/2009/05/01/tgi...ass-announced/ Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli makes it clear that getting QB Matt Cassell killed is high on his list of priorities for the ‘09 season. A surprised Greg can only note that, “watching Eric Ghiaciuc start and play all 16 games for the 2008 Bengals as their center was like watching a garden hose spray water at a screen door. Everything got through.” WDR just can’t believe the news. At least Bengals fans can stop worrying about the possibility that Cincinnati will re-sign Ghiaciuc now. At least until KC wises up. |

I don't anticipate him starting anyway. I don't know why everyone is freaking the **** out.

Has there been any indication on what type of blocking scheme the chiefs will use? Last year I recall a switch to the zone scheme, but that seems to have failed, and with new coaches in place it probably changes. Maybe this guy fits the scheme better than in Cincy. |

Tackling dummies are getting pricey these days.

This signing does bring up the question of what sort of blocking scheme is going to be used by the Chiefs this season to my mind. Has anyone heard whether they might be going with zone blocking, by any chance?

Niswanger's biggest problem isn't his height, it's that he lacks good bend. |

I actually don't think this guy was that bad until last year, and maybe that just had something to do with the whole team?

Getting cut by the Bengals can only mean one thing. He's a good character guy. Not mean enough to get repeat arrests? You're outta here.
