Atlanta, GA , Things to do
I will be heading to Atlanta, GA tomorrow for a week....Training seminar for work.
Anyway, I was wondering if there were any Atlanta, GA people on the board. If so what are some fun or "can't miss" places I should visit weather it be restaurant, tourist attraction, or even just a short drive. What'cha suggest? |
Those Georgia Stones (or whatever they're called) are kind of neat, in a way, Mr. damaticous. It's sort of a New World Order Stonehenge type of thing constructed by peeps unknown and for reasons equally mysterious.
When you pee on the stones, you immediately receive powerful cosmic energies from other dimensions which modify your DNA giving you the ability to remote view and enlarge your private parts at will. FAX |
Where are you staying? I've been downtown for about 7 weeks, and there's a ton to do. The aquarium is really cool, if the Hawks win tomorrow Lebron will be in town... there are several suggestions and some good info in this thread...

You could buy a new Tony Gonzalez Jersey...
|
Turner Field is a really nice stadium.
|
Johnny's Hideaway is an excellent cougar bar, and the Clairmont Lounge is a spectacle to behold as well.
|
Stone mountain is great, especially the hike down. The coke museum is also good. The aquarium has whale sharks and is a must see
|
I hear Buckhead is nice

I live in Dunwoody, which is right next to Sandy Springs. What types of things are you looking to do? And will you have a car, or are you relying on foot or MARTA?

I love BBQ and would really like to eat at a neat, and good, bbq joint. Any recommendations?

Look up Pappadeaux's if you like seafood and New Orleans. Great place.

Get some local BBQ not sure of ATL style??? (probably NC style)... and always look up midnite vulture you can get his cast off chicks. :) |
Yeah, but I am pretty sure that Midnight Vulture is only into herpes-infested wombs and the occasional shemale.

If you like Greek food Avra Greek Taverna is a must. Not far from the Fox Theater, which is a great place to see anything.
http://www.avragreektavern.com/ About the only "real" BBQ joint I know of (and it's a little upscale) is KC Pit: http://kcpitbbq.com/home.html I know the guy who owns it, and believe me, the meat is the real deal. They've also got a pretty nice southern soul food selection too. For the most part most people is GA consider BBQ to be boiled pork chopped up with BBQ sauce on a bun... You go to most "BBQ" places and they smell nice and smokey outside and inside, but the meat tastes like something that was cooked in a crockpot. DT |

For BBQ the best I've had in ATL is Fox Bros. Stay the hell away from KC Pit, it sucks.
If you want local food, get some soul food. Mary Macs Tea Room is in midtown, it's the bomb. OK Cafe is pretty good, and Gladis Knight has a fried chicken and waffles place that people seem to love. The aquarium is awesome, I think it's the largest in the world. You can also tour the CNN center is communist propaganda is more your thing. :) Braves games are a lot of fun too. I'm not up on the whole club/nightlife scene, but Atlanta is full of singles so I'm sure it's hoppin. Posted via Mobile Device |
The Crackers are out in full-force tonight!

Heading to Atlanta middle next week for a business trip. It's been over 20 years since I've been there and the only thing I remember is traffic sucks.
Will be in Sandy Springs, Perimeter, Dunwoody area. Any suggestions appreciated. -business hotel - 2 nice restaurants - cigar lounge - must see place with a few hours to kill - roughly the time to travel to airport Thanks in advance |
I went to a conference in Atlanta once and stayed at a hotel whose lobby looked like the galactic senate chamber in Star Wars.

Try to avoid GA 400/I-285… that is a traffic hellscape.
|
They have a truly world class aquarium downtown. Must see.
The Consulate is also a fabulous restaurant that rotates its menu monthly to reflect a different country’s cuisine. |

If you have a nuke handy... take it and detonate... I hear it is a blast. Especially in that town.
