Tamba Hali grade for tonight?

Missed part of the game. How did he look. The postgame guy on 810 said he couldn't get off blocks and was on the ground most of the night.

Not sure...I missed the first half as well. 101.1 said he had a really good game.../shrug

wild1 08-29-2009 09:33 PM

The guys on 101KCFX said he had a good game, "particularly the first part of the game".

pr_capone 08-29-2009 09:35 PM

From what I noticed.. he seemed to be around the ball more often than not.

I'm quite impressed by his transition from DE to OLB. I *NEVER* thought he would take to it. Give him the season to learn the position outright and then we will know what we have in the guy.

They could have been talking about a half dozen guys in the defensive front seven right there. At one point, I thought maybe someone had just lost a contact lens. :hmmm:

UsualSuspects 08-29-2009 09:38 PM

Was 4 of a 5 point system.

He sucked last year but him or "coaches".

Nice find so far IMO.

No expert like others.

I havent really seen him in action yet, but i firmly believe Tamba Hali will not wash out at OLB...i feel the same about him as i do Croyle & then some.

1- Character - This guy has literally ran for his life through the timelessly inhospitable African landscape, grew up in a hardscrabble existence that likely few here, including myself, could ever imagine...yet somehow, through the Grace of God, made it here to the fortune of pro football?...this guy has character & heart to spare, someone who takes their best shot at every chance.

2- Talent - Last year i got SO tired of seeing him dwarfed & mauled by 330pd tackles etc. Now, he can use his short area burst to move more freely to the ball, he's used to mauling against bigger guys inside, now he'll be better able to either dodge or bump off blocks in space & use his good size effectively...a 3-4 OLB is perfect for him.

He's gonna be fine.

Dane says he sucks.

You keep thinking he's going to break any moment?

tonyetony 08-29-2009 10:53 PM

Hali looked pretty damn good standing up. I think he's going to be an impact player for us this year.................

I can't believe I said that considering I really thought he was a borderline bust until this preseason.

Dorsey has me wondering a little.

keg in kc 08-29-2009 10:54 PM

I thought he played well, seemed to be around the ball a lot. Made a few solid (solo) plays against the run and put some pressure on Hasselbeck. I think in the end he might fit this defense better than I expected, in the predator role. I thought he'd be a total flop.

He made some ok plays. Pressured and got very close to a few sacks. Overall not to bad. Tyson Jackson is going to be a beast. I think our D is going to be ok after about 4-6 games.

Offensive line is ****ed.

crazycoffey 08-30-2009 02:53 AM

oh noes, he can NEVER make it at OLB, he was an undersized DE.....

you were just penzed....

TheGuardian 08-30-2009 07:11 AM

Hali has been very solid at olb, just like I said he would be.

ChiefGator 08-30-2009 07:22 AM

How was McBride? I just got to listen to the game, but he did make a play or two I think. While I had doubts about Hali making the move, I really can't believe McBride can line up at OLB.

Anyone keep an eye on him?

WOW. You are ALWAYS right.

Who else will flourish, and who's will fail?

Oh Guardian, please return again sometime soon, and tell us all about how you were right about something that no one remembers you saying in the past.

We will all marvel at how there's is no way we can disagree with you, because we weren't listening to you in the first place.

You are wise.

Solid enough against the run but abysmal rushing the passer.

Actually, I'm going to give The Guardian props here, because he did say that Tamba would be fine in the transition.

I don't think that Tamba has been outstanding, but he has played well enough to suggest that the transition isn't a failed experiment, as I, and many others, said it would be.

It's not a finished project, so the jury isn't out yet, but so far it appears that The Gaurdian was right.

McBride can line up at OLB but that's where it ends. If Hali gets hurt there is no plan B. We're razor thin depth wise all over the field. Legget might be our only legit backup on the whole damn team.

Maybe Beisel also, that's it.

That is my thought as well, give the front 7 guys 4-6 games to gel and watch out.

Dayze 08-30-2009 10:36 AM

nearly every play I saw of Hali was him begging absorbed by blockers. On pass rush situation, he was handled very well by the OL; doesn't seem to have any moves to confuse the OL.

I'd say was was average. He didn't do anything to stand out.

ou know i believe he DID say that, many times. you could probably run a search and find the posts...

salame 08-30-2009 10:44 AM

he still lacks a second move while pass rushing
just like last year

Delano 08-30-2009 10:47 AM

Early in the game I saw Hali do a power swim move and the move beat the tackle, but Hali stumbled as he was rounding the off-balance o-lineman.

Needs more work, but he's definitely making progress.

boogblaster 08-30-2009 10:51 AM

Hali had one good year .. since then he gets blocked into the pile 95% of the time ...

salame 08-30-2009 11:03 AM

i think we will get about 3 sacks out of Tom Bailey

RedThat 08-30-2009 11:21 AM

The question remains,

is he going to get to the quarterback?

someone else in this thread said he'd be fine, and jumped on many naysayers for being so negative. Oh, who could that be......
