New NFL record on its way in 2009

Last year the Chiefs set the record for fewest sacks in a season. This year the Chiefs set the record for most sacks given up. Book it.

Doubtful. Don't the texans have that record?

Impossible. Our left tackle is too good and Cassel is too mobile.

really man? You should know Cassel holds on to the ball too long, and now if this injury keeps him from being as mobile as he once was it wont be pretty.

Yeah, im pretty sure David Carr was sacked 73 times a few years ago

CrazyPhuD 08-30-2009 06:50 PM

I thought the record was going to be most number of QBs placed on IR in a season. I'm saying to over under is 11.

Most sacks allowed season 104, 1986 Eagles. Per The Sporting News 2006 Pro Football Guide.

I think the Houston Texans record was on a single QB being David Carr.

tk13 08-30-2009 06:54 PM

Philadelphia Eagles allowed 104 sacks in 1986.

Hmm. You may be correct. I was just thinking about that horrible 2002 season with Carr. I would be surprised if the record was 104 for an entire team anyways. Thats ridiculous.

With Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, NY Giants and San Diego (twice, with a healthy Merriman) on the schedule it could happen unless Roaf/Shields/Szott/Alt and Grunhard all return for a comeback tour

Actually, he doesn't.

It's an urban ****ing myth.

47 sacks behind a good Patriot O-line begs to differ.

A good O-Line that gave up two of those sacks to the Chiefs?

tk13 08-30-2009 07:27 PM

Hey we had 4 times that many sacks the rest of the season. Show some respect now. :D

Yep, even more reason to believe Cassel holds onto the ball to long. Besides one of those sacks came off of a flea flicker that didnt play out like expected.

Actually, it's quite irrelevant.

If you watched Cassel play you would know he doesn't hold the ball too long. The Patriots had a lot of problems in protection.

Have you seen Cassel holding the ball too long this preseason? **** no.

So this means Tom Brady would have taken about 47 sacks also? I dont see it happening

Cassel goes through his reads and find the open man so well that holding onto the ball is not an issue.

Ok, ill take your word for it. I didnt watch all of his snaps last year. It was probably a good mix of both Cassel's inexperience and Patriots offensive line not what it was in 06 or 07.

tk13 08-30-2009 07:49 PM

I think it's obvious Brady wouldn't have taken as many sacks. Cassel hadn't played in a long time and it showed at times. But at the same time, Brady didn't even last a game, maybe it was a freak play, but he got hurt for the first time in his career. And even this preseason, he's been clobbered a couple times.
