Tank Tyler gets his ass whipped
No trip here. Just a 310-pound man getting destroyed by a 230-pound man.
This was after Tank got blown off the ball, naturally. http://i29.tinypic.com/2pslpc3.gif |
a fullback that can block.
|
Jesus Christ. We have no NT. Why do I have this sinking feeling that we're going NT with our 1st round pick next year?
|
Nice. I bet the seahawks are laughing their asses off when watching film.
|
Nice footwork there.
|
It seriously looks like he didn't even try.

I would actually pay good money to see the 2003 Chiefs block the 2009 Chiefs.
Every play someone would be getting owned. |
That's funny.
|
Give the dude credit, that's a nice block.
|
We should sign Griffith to play OG.
|
Tank is another crappy Herm pick.
|
You can't let a fullback get under you like that.

I don't think he saw him. He had a pretty serious case of tunnel vision there.
Tyler didn't play well, but this was a mental mistake, not a physical shortcoming. Experience and time can overcome that. I'm not so willing to give up on Tank just yet. |

Mount Cody could be the pick... or Wilfork if he somehow gets unsigned by the pats... |
How could he of not seen that block coming? The back was right behind him. From that angle it looks like he was going miss the tackle anyway.
|
Tank was completely off balance, but that was a very good block. Tyler isn't exactly a pursuit guy, now is he? If he can plug both A gaps, we're ahead of the game.

We IGNORE our needs, around here, mister. Don't you forget it. |
Wide receiver in the 1st...

If we take Cody next year in the first I may lose it. That may just because I don't like him at where we are going to be picking unless he shows a lot better conditioning this year.

The question is, why is Tyler in pursuit of the play three yards off the line of scrimmage in the wrong direction?
I know it doesn't happen every single time, even to the best NT's in the game, but their job is to re-route that run, not to get blown off the line in the wrong direction and have to pursue the play/ball horizontally down the line of scrimmage. There was way too much of that in this last game, especially considering how many high picks we've spent on the defensive line in the draft the past four years. On the positive, they seemed to be going away from Jackson after the first couple of series. Baby steps. |

People like Cody because he's a mountain, but I think Suh is a better player in terms of NT. |
Tyler was running and was hit between steps, it's not like he was coming out of his stance and got blasted. Anyone get get blasted if they get caught off-balance.

Did you miss #74 holding Tyler's foot causing him to pursue off balance? As the coaches say, "stay on your feet!"
|
I have to agree with the Donkey homer. Cody looks like a fat sloth that oozes around. I don't want someone who is lazy and takes plays off to be the center piece of my defense.
|
He was holding Jackson's foot.

I don't think Tank saw the guy. He didn't look like he was prepared for a collision. It's easy to get rocked when you don't have your head on a swivel and don't see a hit coming.
|
That's just a good FB getting lower than the guy he's blocking. Weight is irrelevant when you have that good of leverage.
Tyler needs to get his ass closer to the ground. The NT has to have amazing base strength. Basically built like a pyramid. Tyler's problem is that he's an inverted pyramid. The guy can bench press a Sherman tank, but he carries his weight to high. He can use his strength to his advantage in the middle if he keeps his ass down and works on his balance. |

LEEE SHIT ROFL |
I bet if alot of lineman in the league took their shirts off....they'd look like that.

Tank Tyler was getting destroyed at the POA repeatedly, along with Ron Edwards. That would explain why KC was getting gashed in the middle.

I don't know what's worse. The fact that I thought the thread as titled "Tank Tyler gets his ass wiped;" Or the fact that I then proceeded to read the thread.
Wait, I know what's worse. Andre Smith using his left man-boob / AK47 bullet-nip to wipe Tank Tyler's ass. Microsoft Paint, anyone? |
tank is a big pussy-what a wasted pick that was
|
Tank better "see the guy" or he's going to be running with the 3's. A NT should NEVER get pancaked by a guy he outweighs by 75lbs or more.

At a 90 degree angle, Tyler would have ZERO force along Griffin's vector. |

The Chiefs drafted Turk McBride and Tank Tyler over Brandon Mebane.

edited.
i think this vid is a little misleading. lets let the season play out before we bust him one. |
Any surprise? I have told you guys from the instant you drafted him about how high and weak this dude plays. He got killed at the senior bowl by college players that half of them wouldn't even play in the NFL.
|
No way KC takes Cody. That would be 3 guys drafted in TOP 5 and a lot of money tied up in the DL.

In lieu of starting a new thread, I think I shall just bump this one. But I think we should do this every week. A lot of Chiefs are going to get their asses whipped this year, and I'm gonna point out every fraud on this group, as Gunther once said.
Come Week 1, I start the "2009 Season Of Ass Whipping" thread. Mike Goff gets his ass whipped by Leroy Hill: http://i26.tinypic.com/iw4w0w.gif |
I wish they would just cut Goff and get it over with!

ROFL The running back didn't know what the **** to do. I would have liked to see his face. My guess is it would have looked like this.... http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_dcdi--LdAe...c/s400/wtf.jpg |

Yeah I was talking about this with Dane. I could have sworn it was Jesus Curry at first. At least Goff would have had an excuse in that case. No one can pull and block Jesus.
|
Okay, now THAT was an ass whuppin'.
Goff saw him, squared him up and still got knocked the !@#$ out. Might want to try moving your feet a little next time, big fella. Though I'll give him some credit, at least he didn't ole' the damn thing. A lot of lineman would try to take him off a hip once Hill got that kind of speed going. Goff appears to be tough as nails...just very very old and very very slow. |
Yikes, the Goff gif is worse than Tylers...he had the benefit of seeing his man straight ahead & still got nuked.
He's still an upgrade over Jones, but thats not saying much. I tried to defend him in another thread, but thats truly embarrassing, my homerism limits get lower each year. Thats plain terrible Guff, get yer head outta yer azz. |
The hit on Tyler happens every game. Running sideways you have no leverage. I've seen 180 pound WR's decleat linebackers with that same type of hit. It's really no big deal.
The Goff hit however, is downright embarrassing. Hill just makes him his prison bitch. There is really no way we should go into the regular season with Goff as the starting right guard. I've broke down all three preseason games and the guy is just trash. I think he's just long in the tooth now and the explosiveness to move guys is gone. He looks done. |
Quote:
As I said in another, there is no way the Chiefs can justify keeping Goff on this roster. And no, scott free, he is not an upgrade over Jones. |
He turned it into about 8 yards.
Still impressive. |

With that gif staring me in the face, i'm hard pressed to argue. But, he's certainly had more success in this league, than Jones, who was an on/off again starter in NY. No question though, Guff looks spent. Wouldnt surprise me in the least to see Alleman week 1, cant go wrong with a guy who's ALL MAN...eh, :spock:. |
