Orton Out For...
"Open dislocation" for Kyle Orton
Posted by Mike Florio on September 1, 2009 10:29 AM ET On the surface, the outcome made no sense. Barring some of the equipment manipulation advocated in the original version of The Longest Yard, how could Bears defensive end Adewale Ogunleye slash the finger of Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton with a gloved hand? As it turns out, Ogunleye didn't have a razor blade in his glove. (And that's definitely a comforting thought.) Instead, Orton had a bone in his finger that was sufficiently dislocated that it sliced through the flesh, from the inside. Per the Denver Post, it's an "open dislocation." Thus, the damage is akin to a bone-deep cut that will require extensive stitching to heal. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...or-kyle-orton/ So Orton's status for Week One is in doubt, and this means that the roster of opening-day rookie starting quarterbacks could include not only Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford, but also a sixth-round pick from Fresno State named Tom Brandstater. |
Best offseason ever....

Watch Brandstater impress, and end up winning the job...

Rub some dirt on it. |
he could have nerve-related complications. certainly not a good thing for a quarterback.

OH wait. From Orton? It's possible that he will look better than captain lefty. |
This probably helps the Broncos chances in week 1.

Dave Logan (on the Broncos' radiocast) diagnosed the injury from the booth seconds after it happened.

a REAL man would have just told the trainer to cut the damn thing off at the knuckle and tape it up so he could go back in and finish the game.
signed, Ronnie Lott |
I never thought Orton was a very good quarterback, but I always liked him. Poor bastard's certainly had a rough go of it lately.
|
Addition by subtraction?
Man the AFC West may set a new standard of suckage this year. If it weren't for the fact Denver and KC have to play each other twice they could both go 0-16. |
Wow that's gotta be painful. Too bad for him.

It's interesting how similar the Chiefs and Broncos games went this week in terms of injuries.

GET UP BITCH
|
Honestly, I thought Brandstater looked better than Orton did.
|
Yeah. I heard this on ESPN this morning. That's gotta hurt like a fother mucker.
I don't want players to get hurt and it would seriously suck if it damaged his throwing motion (through nerve or whatever). I feel sorry for the guy. Going from a fairly well run organization to the epic fail of Denver, living up to the last guy who happened to be supremely talented and put up monster numbers, having your BAMF WR quit and start punting balls. (ROFL still chuckle at that), have an ass for a HC and all the fans hate you. I hate Dungver with every fiber of my being, but I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Posted via Mobile Device |
Brandstater sucks he always "looked" the part at Fresno State, but when it came down to playing in a game he was a total idiot on the field. 0% chance of Brandstater being the next anybody, unless he can grow a new brain.

Orton is one tough son of a bitch/ Josh McDaniels

In related news, Knowshon could be back and ready to go in Cinci :)
Knowshon sighting by Mike Klis on August 30, 2009 Under the watchful eye of Broncos’ longtime trainer Steve “Greek”" Antonopulos, Broncos rookie running back Knowshon Moreno was testing his injured right knee prior to the preseason game here tonight against the Bears at Invesco Field at Mile High. Moreno, the Broncos’ No. 12 overall draft pick, suffered a strained MCL in his right knee while making his second carry in the preseason opener Aug. 14 at San Francisco. At Invesco tonight, Moreno was attached to a bungee cord that was secured around the base of the goal post near the south end zone. Working against the bungee resistence, Moreno went through a series of backpedals, crossovers and lateral moves. There’s a chance Moreno could practice this week on a limited basis with hopes he will be ready to play by the Broncos’ regular-season opener Sept. 13 at Cincinnati. |

"He's getting a lot of heat now, but someone who knows coaches well predicted to me that McDaniels is going to be one of the greatest NFL coaches ever. Strong words, I know, and we'll see. But I think he's going to be a real good one".
- Adam Schefter on Josh McDaniels Its so funny that you have this quote in your sig. I guess Adam Schefter's word is the gospel according to you. Blind to the fact that he used to COVER the Denver Broncos. I can't wait for the season to start. It's already a MESS in Denver and once the regular season starts this thing is going to blow up right in McDaniel's face. |
who needs a franchise qb?

But McDaniels said orton didn't have a dislocation. Why he lie to the sideline reporter?

We still have Knowshon, Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Tony Scheffler, the best offensive line in football... Orton will put up a QB Rating that is at least as good as what Cutler had last year. |
Thigpen is available for Marshall. We'll throw in a low pick too.

YOWCH! You know, if something like that happened to me I would probably run screaming in pain like a little girl so...he's pretty tough. I'll give him that. What a horrible injury.
