70 years.

My kids must have no idea about the significance of that war.

I grew up in a neighborhood and family full of guys who fought in it.

My father (with the help of a brother) falsified documents so he could serve when he was 16. That was 1944.

Ditto, sec. Ditto.

I once made a paper airplane with a neighbor kid. His was American. Mine was Nazi.

His father saw what we were doing (playing a game, as far as we knew). He gave me a lecture that I'll never forget about drawing a swastika on anything. Game or not.

i was in 2nd grade and took a major ass-beating for the same thing. saw some swastika on the bathroom wall at school. went home and drew a few to show my old man...BAM!
after that, i'd only draw titties.

Father God, please be with seclark's son as he deploys. Give him the protection of your full armor (Acts 17:11) and keep him safe as he does the work that I am too old to do.

Let him know that I thank him for what he's doing in my place and in the place of my children who are still too young to serve. Let him know that my 14 year old son is considering serving beside him when he can.

I pray for this protection in the name of your son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Demonpenz 09-01-2009 12:19 PM

CoMoChief 09-01-2009 12:20 PM

Well we're probably going to have another civil war here sometime soon once Obama and Co want to start this world government. Hell he's even training his own gestapo in Georgia, to try and combat a civil uprising.

All hell will break loose.

Actually the Second World War started when Japanese launched an invasion of China proper, July 7, 1937. The Japanese Kwantung Army turned a small incident into a full-scale war. Chinese forces were unable to effectively resist the Japanese. The Japanese military was not only better armed and organized, they were also incredibly brutal. The rape of Nanking was one of the most terrible atrocities of World War II. The Japanese methodically moved south, seizing control of most of eastern China and all of the major ports by the time war broke out in Europe. (1939).

Nonsense. That was just a conflict between two countries. The invasion of Poland directly led to the declaration of war on Germany by France and the UK.

Only because we refused to have any sympathy for the CHINESE. Our refusel to become involved in the conflict lead directly to Japans aggression that involved the US in WW2. Without which it is very likely that Roosevelt would not have been able to become involved in the European side of the War.

The only reason most people refuse to admit the 2nd WW started in Asia is because we are mostly of European descent and have always thought of the Asians as second class countries.

No, it is because Japan and China fighting each other did not result in multiple countries declaring war upon one another.

The invasion of Poland did.

There have bee countless number of "sticky" when CP members lose of loved one, or one may be battling a life threatening illness, etc.

People usually post something a long the lines of "my thoughts and prayers are with you" then in respect go and pray on their own.....to themselves. Praying is supposed to be your alone time with God. Posting your prayers on the internet for cyberspace (let alone a football message board) to read is tasteless and just plain stupid.

Your kidding right? The US Marines were involved in the July 7, 1937 Marco Polo bridge incident that started the war. Our Gunboats were repeatedly attacked and 1 even sunk by the Japanese, resulting in the death of several Marines. Our troops were also strafed by the Japanese air force & Several US Marines were also killed/captured in the bridge incident.

Not sure what a "real" reason would be to declare war, but the unprovoked attack, killing & capture of US soldiers & civilians seems pretty good to me.:hmmm:

Again, only because they involved Asians, were we not willing to get involved. Roosevelt admitted he "overlooked" Japans aggression only because he wanted to fight the Germans.

Father if it be they will I humbly beseech you to act in CoMoChief's life in such a way that his cold heart may melt, that he will turn or be turned to walk in the light and joy of Christ.

You worthless fool.

Sorry Donger that your thread turned into this mess. I love history, so it sucks that this thread didn't get the proper respect it deserved.

I wonder who the first soldier killed in World War II was. That'd have to be pretty frustrating. It'd be like signing up for the biggest dodgeball tournament in the world and then being hit with the first ball thrown.

No, I was not aware that any Americans were involved in that fight, let alone any of them died. Please provide your evidence.

Don't know. I know the first U.S. Soldier to be killed in Vietnam, but not WWII. Sorry

Well it would all depend on when you thought the war actually started? :hmmm:

I'm guessing he was Polish.

The most common Polish surname is Nowak.

The most popular male names are Piotr (Peter), Krzysztof (Christopher), and Andrzej (Andrew).

So I'm going to guess his name was Piotr Nowak, Krzysztof Nowak, or Andrzej Nowak.

But then your fellow team mate catches the opponents thrown ball, then you're right back in the game!
