RUMOR: Garcia asked to be released?

Raiders coach Tom Cable said Jeff Garcia asked for his release.
Interesting. It was assumed that the Raiders decided to cut Garcia because they were comfortable with JaMarcus Russell and Garcia didn't show anything in the preseason. Cable says that's not the case. "It was a shock to us all," Cable said. "We were blown away."Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter

I'd rather be unemployed than play for the Raiders, too.

And yet we haven't brought him in for a look. My undying hatred of Thigpen aside, I find this beyond strange.

You're absolutely right; Thigpen and Croyle are destined to light the world on fire as our back ups.

If Cassel goes down, Croyle will surely carry us to greatness. Thigpen has proven over and over again how awesome he is in Haley's offense as well.

What could I possibly be thinking? I must be ****ing reeruned!:spock:

Great response, dumb ****. Now tell me why "I'm kidding", or please shut your ****ing pie hole.

Reports are that the 53 guys who made the final roster also asked to be released, but Al refused. :)

OK, here you go dumbass.

Garcia is a West Coast QB. He does not have the arm strength to play in Haley's offense. He would have many of the same struggles as Thigpen has had.

Garcia is a prima donna bitch. Everywhere he has gone, he has thought he should be the starter. I don't think he is good for a locker room, and especially for a team that will surely struggle, but has a young, first year starting QB that isn't a good move. This is the main reason I say no. It would take probably one week before he was stirring shit up saying he should be the starter.

Garcia is old.

Garcia doesn't know our offense at all, and it is late in the process and would make no sense to bring him in and try to teach him a brand new playbook in the middle of the season.

Croyle is not as bad of a back up QB as you make him out to be.

Guitierrez is not as bad of a third string QB as you make him out to be.

Thigpen probably isn't as bad of a third string QB as you make him out to be, and like I said, Garcia would have many of the same problems playing in his offense as Thigpen has had.

The grass is not always greener on the other side.

While I don't think we should bring Garcia in, comparing him to Thigpen is a stretch.

Garcia was an NFL-caliber QB. Thigpen never was and never will be because he's too inaccurate.

In short, it's possible Garcia would struggle, but it wouldn't be for the same reasons Thigpen would.

I never made Guitierrez out to be a bad QB, and he has a better chance to do something should Cassel go down than the other two. Period.
Croyle and Thigpen ****ing SUCK, Thigpen especially. Croyle is slow as molasses, overthrows/underthrows, and Thigpen is Thigpen; enough said on THAT front.

I don't give a **** if Garcia thinks he's Paris Hilton; he's better as one QB than Thigpen and Croyle are as two, regardless of age. And WCO or no, don't tell me he can't dink and dunk, KC style, down the field.
In case you hadn't noticed, we don't exactly throw long passes. Vertical or otherwise.

Croyle has one bad preseason games and now he sucks?

Whatever.

He'll never stay on the field. It doesn't matter. He's not an NFL player.

Garcia: 6'1" 205 = no interest from Pioli and co. We don't even need to get to arm strength.

Square peg, round hole.

In a statement made today by his agent, Jeff Garcia announced his intention to sign with the Hot Coffee, Mississippi 'Fightin' Geeches' of the WTFL.

A brief statement from Garcia was read by his agent...'I'm very excited to be joining the 'Fightin' Geeches', at this point in my career, i feel that they have the best shot at winning something, anything'.

Wouldn't he be a better fit for the Lingerie Football League? :)

LaChapelle 09-12-2009 06:19 PM

The night before the season opener. Beilichick would approve, if JaMarcuss can deliver of course.

His wife would be perfect for the Lingerie Bowl. She is a beauty...

Oakland is where football careers go to die.

chiefzilla1501 09-13-2009 10:01 AM

Brodie Croyle is a pretty decent QB who can't stay on the field
Tyler Thigpen is a raw QB who needs a lot of work, but has both upside and bust potential
Matt Gutterez was "Captain checkdown" this summer--lots of credit given to a guy who threw to his checkdown running back on almost every play

It is what it is.
