Mizzou will reenter the top 25, imo. Probably next week.

Sure-Oz 09-13-2009 04:12 PM

deservingly so, but we'll get back up there if we play better than we did against BG

OmahaChief 09-13-2009 04:20 PM

Good. Maybe that will get their head out of their ass.

Saul Good 09-13-2009 04:37 PM

It's hard to really say where they are right now, but they are 2-0 against teams who are 2-0 in their games.

Illinois won 45-17 and Bowling Green won 31-14. Missouri beat them both. Yesterday's game wasn't pretty, but it was impressive to see them score 21 straight when they needed it. It seems to me that we have a higher upside than any team in the North, but we also have the potential to play like a very inexperienced team at any given time. I'll take my chances on upside to win out more often than not as the season progresses.

KcMizzou 09-13-2009 04:39 PM

Fair enough.

I figure they'll be back.

Do you plan on both teams making the Big XII Title Game, or do you just know next to nothing about college football?

Even last year when Mizzu was a much better football team they couldn't beat OK so I think they're lucky to be in the Top 25. They have never been able to get any respect b/c they can't beat OK.

I also "never pursue to be the most popular poster on this site". So I guess we have that much in common.

I asked, but actually I knew it was...

Women's groups nationwide were outraged by Knight's comments during an April, 1988 interview with Connie Chung in which he said, "I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it."[29] Knight's comment was in reference to an Indiana basketball game in which he felt the referees were making poor calls against the Hoosiers.

No less than we deserve. We played like crap. I was going to post yesterday but after 7 hours of tailgating, then the game, and then closing down the bar I was in no shape to be posting. Just glad we won. The crowd was really into the game though, Mizzou really is providing a nice home field advantage these days.

Nebraska game is going to be sweet. Hoping we are both ranked and it means something this year. Few teams I enjoy beating more than the Huskers. Too many tough losses in the past for me to have fond feelings about the huskers. Not to mention that reeruned plastic cartoon hick farmer running around.

I hope KU, MU, and Nebraska really battle it out this year for the North.

WTF is the double standard? Tech loses a few of its starters.. is retooled, and is dropped from Polls after a finish of 12 the year before. Mizzou loses even more starters, and is in the top 25? They deserve it no More than TTU does. KU certainly belongs because there is sufficient reason to believe, them and Nebraska will be good this year.

Texas Tech had more preseason votes (114) than Mizzou (44) in the USA Today poll and the AP (76-3).

Mizzou's opponents are ranked 49 and 65.... a pretty good non-conference average of 57.

Texas Tech has played Rice (108/120) and what I assume is a DI-AA, North Dakota.... which would average to about twice of Mizzou's opponents.

They have every right to play cupcakes, since they have 6 ranked teams on their schedule... and since they'll have every opportunity to prove themselves, it's a little absurd to bring it up now.

Pre-season rankings are lame, and shouldnt even exsist until week 4. That is just my opinion. We should have nothing to argue about.. because the rankings shouldn't exsist. Okie States High ranking... I don't even wanna go there lol.

Nebraska fans have NO REASON to talk sh*t at the present time. Yes, I know Nebraska has a much more storied tradition than Kansas and Missouri by 100 fold. It might be wise to hold off on the shit talking until you are actually head and shoulders better than Missouri and Kansas. Nebraska Football and Kentucky Basketball fans are the same types of fans - they all want to be told how great they are even when they have fallen out of the elite tier of teams. Get back to the promise land, and then talk shit.

That was pretty cool when KU hung 76 points on the pinkshirts on Lawrence two years ago. And while the next year Ku went into Nebraska and kept it close. I'm expecting more of the same this year when the Cornhuskers visit Lawrence.

KU has the same amount of BCS bowls as the Cornhuskers since 2001. And KU even won theirs. Then got sh*t on by the pollsters after going like a billion and 1. Everybody wrote KU off saying they had a 0% chance to win their BCS game, then they won. And nobody gave a sh*t. If Nebraska was in the same shoes they would of ended the year ranked #2.

None of that matters anyway because it's all in the past. Any Mizzou fan will tell you that.

You're awfully chippy tonight. :D

Illini fan here, and my first point will be don't put too much emphasis on Illinois's win. We beat Illinois State, a bad division 1-AA team, and let their freshman 2nd string qb throw for over 300 against us. The Illinois secondary might be the worst group I have ever seen there, and I was in school during the 0-11 season.

With that said, Mizzou will have a pretty good season. Gabbert is a very good QB and you have a great RB in Washington.

I realized this was what you meant after I read all the way back. As much as you question people, I thought I had missed something. I'm glad I read back, though. Funny stuff.

I think MU fans are saying you shouldn't base how you're going to do now on what you did 20 years ago. I could be wrong, though. Wouldn't be the first time. :D

This may be the only time this season I can talk any shit at all, so I'll be taking full advantage of it. :thumb:

I haven't read the thread, so I don't know what was said. I don't think any of us can be very confident right now.

I think we have the type of team that will be significantly better at the end of the season. Unfortunately, that might mean a couple losses coming up. The Hokies will be tough, and the Mizzou game is a toss up.

I don't understand where that comes from. I always hear about how Nebraska fans do that, but I never actually see it.
