Quick Question: Is Chiefsplanet "Social Media"?
 

Just wondering. Is "social media" only something where people participate online solely to promote their own businesses, or is it also social media when someone ends up asking phobia for a construction bid or me for market research or skip for satellite dish installation just because they get to know us?

social media doesnt HAVE to be about promoting your business... but interacting with people online.

Chiefsplanet would be considered social media... forums, blogs, social networks... places where people interact online.

So if I have to give a speech about social media, I can claim chiefsplanet as participation?

I was thinking I could, but didn't want to be inaccurate.

Social media can take many different forms, including Internet forums, weblogs, social blogs, wikis, podcasts, pictures, video, rating and bookmarking.

Since Chiefsplanet is considered an Internet forum, then it is a form of social media.

I remember back when this was just called "wasting time on the Internet". It's great to now be able to claim that I spend 20 hours a week participating in social media.

I think it is. I spend probably 80% of my online time here at CP.
I can get nearly everything I need here; humor, insight, discussion, help, advice etc.

....so...personally I think it is. Of course, my definition of Socal Media could be different than others.

A lot of people spend more than that on Facebook and/or Twitter. According to Alexa.com, Facebook is #3 of the top 500 websites in the world. Facebook is currently more popular than YouTube! This is a profoundly rich vault of potential customers for any social media marketing company.

There is a calculated 69,264,740 users on Facebook.

Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that utilizes instant messaging, SMS, or a web interface. Twitter is currently ranked #15 on the most popular websites in the world. According to a recent Neilson poll, Twitter is the fastest growing social networking site.

Chiefsplanet's 7-day ranking on Alexa.com is 111,558. We've actually lost nearly 40 percent of the page views in the past 3 months- that is not good when you consider the fact that training camp and pre-season games were included during that period.

I guess I don't get how their page view ranking works if it's saying that. (As usual), we're up about 75% in daily posts in August compared to July.

yes, most defintely.

It definitely is... although when most people think of social media.. they think of facebook and myspace... then twitter and yelp... then youtube.. then forums....

WTF....I thought the other type of indians liked the chiefs?

ChiefsPlanet can be a rhetorical punch in the face, what could be more personally interactive & social, than a good punch in the face?

the people who were bitching about signing priest was pretty funny too.

social media = where we decide which gets shown in the website.

But as Herm taught us, it was a bad signing because they scored too fast with Priest. Were you not listening when he educated us about that?
