To "www" or not to "www"...
When typing in a web site, do you typically include the www's these days? In other words, if I told you to go look at something on Yahoo, would you type in "www.yahoo.com" or "yahoo.com"?
|
yahoo.com
|
I type in yahoo in the address bar, and then hit cntrl+enter. It automatically appends a WWW to the front and a .com to the end.

Although some websites dont work when you include www. Also, some dont work unless you include www. |
i would click Google taskbar shortcut and type Y and then arrow down to the autocomplete for YAHOO.
:D |
Leave out the www.
as an advertiser, we always talk our clients into just saying the name.com. EVeryone knows that the wwws are implied. |
I type in the www......it's habit.

I'm not going out somewhere in middle of the Webs that I've not been to already. It's scary out there. Brrrr.... |

I find that I can find things faster on our University web page by googling them than by using the directory of the university web site. |

I never use www.

When I type... my fingers just default to www.

I tried doing it without the w's in about 1995 and it didn't work. So I type them. You can't fool me twice.
|
I thought you had to type in the "www." ****. :cuss:
|
I don't think I've ever typed www or http:// for an address.
|
I still type the prefix, guess it's just out of habit.
|
Damn.
I still type out the http:// |

I voted 'WTF mate' not really sure why.
|
Well, I certainly won't continue to do it. :grr:
|
i got google as my homepage... then i simply type the kind of bondage porn i want for that afternoon and go from there..
|
It is mostly unnecessary but does depend on web-site adminstrators setting the site access to accept traffic with or without.

... and that's 'OKAY' |
www.whatever.com for me. Just a habit I guess.
|
Not only should you NOT use www. but you should 301 redirect all pages so that when someone types in www. that is redirects to the nonwww page.
|
Who uses yahoo.com anyway?
|
yuvutu.com
wait, what was the question? |

www is for bitches.

I'm pretty sure I learned about the second week I was on the internet that the www wasn't necessary.
|
I do out of habit.

Definitely not.

I finally broke the www habit. I still wonder if it's going to work every time I do it.
|
Not using WWW is incredibly poor form.
I mean, what if I wanted to go to mail.yahoo.com? Or ftp.yahoo.com? |
and the only time I www is if a website isn't working properly, and I'm not positive that I got all of the extensions correct.

For some reason, I always just go to websites using google. I very rarely go to a website using the address bar. Like if this site wasn't bookmarked,I would type in "chiefsplanet" in google eveytime I wanted to come here instead of typing chiefsplanet.com in the address bar.

There is NO Gaz option.
This poll is flawed. :shake: |

in eyes of webbot / spider... they appear to be different. So, you always want to do a permanent 301 redirect. Google it. |
Nope.
Never. |
Don't know why but I still use the www.

I would first press "ctrl" + "L" to get into the address bar (this only works in firefox, in IE it brings up a little "open" box) type yahoo and the press "ctrl" + "enter" and that adds in the www. and the .com; I'm all about the keyboard shortcuts
|
I've never used the internet or even a computer.
I just got one of them color TV's a couple of months ago. It is so cool. |

Either will work, but any webmaster worth their salt should redirect all traffic to one or the other if you want the best results in Google and other search engines.

There are servers on the internet that aren't running HTTP.
But that's ok, just assume all domains with no A record are webservers, because people are too lazy to type "www". ROFL |
