Will there be any pass rushers that fit our needs?
in the first round?
|
Kindle, Sapp, Montgonery, Hughes, Selvie
|
No.
No pass rushers anywhere. Ever. We're ****ed. |
Tim Tebow is a pretty good pass rusher I hear

Truth is that there will be several good OLBs for a 34 defense in this draft. Top five worthy? Maybe not. But this draft is "choke full of" OLBs for a 34. Rush Backers....( I like dots....) I like pass rushers.... PhilFree:arrow: |
I just can't bring myself to be happy about taking a Texas pass rusher in the top 5.

If they choose to go that route, there will be a very good edge rusher available at the top of the second round. (There isn't really anyone at that position that would justify a top 10 pick in next years draft, but a lot of good ones that have a lot of upside will be available at the top of the second round.)
My fav is Eric Norwood (6'1", 255 lb.) of South Carolina, but he's having a monster season and probably has moved up into the mid-late first round. An Elvis Dumervil/Dwight Freeney type of player. http://www.nationalchamps.net/2008/s...ic_norwood.jpg George Selvie (6'4", 250) from South Florida is a stud and possesses a really fast first step. His numbers haven't been what they were, but he's basically been triple teamed the past two years every single game. Demarcus Ware type player. http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/48/486027.jpg Jerry Hughes (6'2", 250) of TCU is murdering people again this season. He's the real deal. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BwMQiTTD5A...rry+Hughes.jpg Brandon Lang (6'4", 250) from Troy. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eMh_4aJKYz...Lang+photo.jpg Sergio Kindle (6'4", 255) of Texas is off to a slow start, but he's got everything you want in terms of body and athleticism. http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2009...kindle_400.jpg |
Kindle right now is just speaking to typical Texas player.

He's a converted running back, and has only played the DE position for about three years. Like a duck to water though. Clash of the titans on November 14, when TCU and Utah play and he'll go against LT Zane Beadles. Should be a hell of a matchup. |
Pass rusher to fit KC's needs? Yes.
In the top 10? Probably not. Early 2nd round. Probably yes. My .02 right now: Kindle - underachieving. TX has played some bad teams and Kindle hasn't been able to do much. Only 2 sacks. Norwood - looks great on the field. His size and workouts may drop him to the top of 2nd round. Selvie- I haven't seen this year. Lang (Troy) - Troy was on last week and they just rolled all over their opponent. I tried watching some of the game. Their entire defense was dominant so it was hard to come to any conclusion on Lang. Hughes - I haven't watched a TCU game this year. Hardy - Has been injured and unimpressive. |
Use that high 2nd rounder to take the most animalistic and intelligent/workhorse combination you can find. I don't know who that is right now, but assuming we're to address at least one LB position through the draft, I'd hope it's that high 2nd rounder, and I hear good things about this Hughes character also, maybe we'll get lucky and snag someone like that...
This team has a lot of holes though, it'll be interesting to see where the draftnicks have the weight of this class (position-wise). The good news is, that we need everything basically, so it's kind of hard to miss in that respect. But, in the "how to build a team" manual that all GMs get, there are certain pillars to respect. LB to me is high, but not nearly the highest. |

I'll take Hughes or Sapp. I'm just hoping that one of them will last until the top of the 2nd round.
Berry/Mays and Hughes/Sapp would help this defense immensly. |
