How many NFL Games have you left early?

I've only left 2 games ever early.

2008 - Chargers vs. Raiders - Thursday Night Football

The Chargers were 4-8 headed into the game, and I was pretty much under the impression that the season was over. The Broncos were 7-5 at this point, so I didn't see how this was a meaningful game. It was on a Thursday so I had to work beforehand, and I couldn't get there 4 hours before kickoff. We got there probably an hour and a half before kickoff and got drunk in the parking lot. We didn't make it into the game until the end of the first quarter and at this point the Chargers were already beating the shit out of the Raiders. I was bored out of my mind and so was everyone else I was with, so we left at halftime.

2007 - Chargers vs. Chiefs

You guys should remember this one. Dwayne Bowe ate the Chargers up all day, and the Chiefs returned a Fumble for a TD. When we were down by 14 with 6 or 7 minutes to go, I was disgusted and left. I missed the "Marty, Marty, Marty!" Chant though, thats my only regret.

Sure-Oz 10-16-2009 10:26 AM

I've only left pre-season early, im still like 0-9 at arrowhead and 0-1 on the road lol saw the thrashing at denver like 2 years ago

i went to the oakland game this year too damnit

seclark 10-16-2009 10:29 AM

none for me...had the wife take the kids out early at a raider game when it was rain/sleeting, but i stayed til it was over.
sec

Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan 10-16-2009 10:32 AM

Never.

I've been to four games at Ravens Stadium, one at Fed-Ex, one at Cincy and two at Arrowhead and stayed until 00:00 in every one of them.

burt 10-16-2009 10:37 AM

Arrowhead is never going to see me leave early! Last year it was one of those freezing games....and my very skinny 13 year old son and I stayed the entire game. Froze our asses off, but damnit, ya don't leave Arrowhead early!!!

Buck 10-16-2009 10:39 AM

I've been to at least 50 NFL games, not including preseason, and had never left one til 2007. Pretty good record.

Phobia 10-16-2009 10:44 AM

I left a preseason game at halftime when I had my daughter with me. That's all I can recall.

Red Brooklyn 10-16-2009 10:44 AM

Once. I used to be a big 49ers fan. I went to see the Chiefs and 9ers at Arrowhead. The Chiefs destroyed them. I left late in the 4th quarter to beat the traffic.

LaChapelle 10-16-2009 10:46 AM

We will now switch to a game that is more competitive.

JD10367 10-16-2009 10:47 AM

I've only been to a handful of Patriots games in the past 10 years, since the tickets are expensive and hard to get. When I've gone, I've taken the train, and the train leaves promptly 30 minutes after the game... and, if you're in the upper deck at Gillette (which is usually where I am), it probably takes a good 30 minutes to negotiate all the winding ramps and stairs and walk to the train, and that's if you do it with no one around. If you try it with the entire exiting crowd, you're screwed. And, luckly, most of the games I've been to have been decided well before the final minutes, so I've left with around 7 or 8 minutes to go and listened to the game on my Walkman as I headed to the train.

I did see them in South Florida, a few years back, and Miami pasted the shit out of them, but we stayed until the end anyway. I also saw them in Buffalo back in '97 and '98 when I lived in Syracuse and, again, we stayed until the end.

Thats another reason I left during the Chiefs game is because I took the train to the game that time.

alpha_omega 10-16-2009 10:51 AM

Only in preseason.

ChiefsCountry 10-16-2009 11:13 AM

Not until last year, it makes a huge difference if you have season tickets or not. If you go to every game it doesnt have the same meaning like if you go to one game a year.

I've never left a game early. Not even the December game against the Donkeys when it was like 12 degrees and the stands were 3/4 empty. The day Tony Richardson ran for almost 150 yards on them.

I haven't been since 2004, but even then people were clearing out early. I can't imagine how it must be now.

Mile High Mania 10-16-2009 11:17 AM

Are you attending the game on Monday night? My guess is, you'll be leaving early 4th quarter with tears of sadness in your eyes... so, it will soon be 3 games for you.

Denver will defeat your Dolts... prepare for pain.

I'll be there. I would never leave a Broncos game early.

You have no chance to survive. Make your time.

My buddy and I went to the Chargers/Chiefs game a few years back. It was the game after Lamar Hunt had died, and they moved it to a Sunday night game. We were in the top row of the upper deck on the opposite side of the stadium from the train station. We must have waited a full hour and a half to get on that train. That was insane.

ROFL No chance, really? Keep the spirits high, my friend.

Denver is in for a battle and they very well could lose this game, it wouldn't surprise me... but, no chance? Ok... :D

Yeah, they say that 15,000 - 25,000 people use the train every game. Unless you leave early, you are waiting a couple hours.

Sandyskc 10-16-2009 02:03 PM

1 and I left in an ambulance they thought I was having a heart attack.

MMXcalibur 10-16-2009 03:22 PM

I left my seat during the Chiefs/Texans 2007 opener with about :40 left as the Texans were kneeling to run out the clock. Does that count?

Taking the train is a great plan. In theory.

But after it's over, and you're wearing a Chiefs jersey while being packed into a train that would make Asians claustrophobic, surrounded by drunk Chargers fans looking to make an example out of someone after having waited 90 minutes in line listening to the "Super Chargers" theme song on repeat? Not so much.

KCChiefsMan 10-16-2009 03:31 PM

never left an NFL game early. I went with some friends that wanted to leave at halftime because it was too cold and I basically told them to STFD and STFU

rockymtnchief 10-16-2009 03:43 PM

I've never left a game early. And the last time I stopped watching a televised game early was the Montana comeback against Elway. BIG mistake! Now I watch to the bitter end.

smittysbar 10-16-2009 04:04 PM

Never have

xfactor 10-16-2009 04:58 PM

I seen you Sunday, walked right by you actually :)
you were unloading something out of your trunk i believe

Buck 10-16-2009 04:59 PM

Thats what, 24 straight years?

Lzen 10-16-2009 05:04 PM

Once. 1996 at Arrowhead vs the Chargers. It was 28-0 sometime in the 3rd quarter, IIRC. The weather was very cold and snowy/icy. Bono was sucking. As we were leaving, the crowd was chanting for Rich Gannon to come in. Those were the best seats I ever had for a game at Arrowhead (Just a few rows up in the endzone).

Looks like Gannon lit it up in Garbage Time

i cant leave, i go to sleep.... lol..... LMAO

ClevelandBronco 10-20-2009 11:00 PM

Never have, never will. Win or lose I stay until the end.

However, I have to admit that I don't attend many NFL games these days. I've decided that unlike MLB and NHL (and NCAA hockey and basketball, for that matter), football is better watched on TV than in the stadium.

KCrockaholic 10-20-2009 11:12 PM

I will never, ever leave a Chiefs game early unless an emergency happens. Ive been forced to leave Kauffman early before in the 7th inning because of family wanting to "beat traffic" on the way out. That still pisses me off.....

Anybody remember the opening day Royals vs White Sox game when Beltran, Mendy Lopez, and Ken Harvey basically won the game for us in the bottom of the 9th? We all left the building chanting "Harvey" and talking about going 162-0.....Great times!! Great game!

Silock 10-21-2009 02:10 AM

None.

007 10-21-2009 03:17 AM

Preseason only. Regular season I hang out until the end unless I rode with somebody else. Then I am at their mercy.

KcFanInGA 10-21-2009 04:56 AM

Been to Arrowhead twice, Ralph Wilson once, and the Ga Dome many times, never left early. I can't do it.
