No, it was not. The sleaze should be banned from the NFL by now. What hypocrites.

Buck 10-16-2009 11:06 AM

Nope, left his feet to hit a defenseless receiver, and he it him in the head.

kepp 10-16-2009 11:06 AM

Definitely NOT a clean hit.

Chiefnj2 10-16-2009 11:16 AM

Textbook separating the receiver from the ball. Props to Ochocinco for getting right up, talking trash and sending the commish a twitter after the game asking that Ray NOT be fined.

TrickyNicky 10-16-2009 11:25 AM

"Lewis was fined a total of $25,000 for the hit on Ochocinco, as well as another play during which Lewis unnecessarily kicked an opponent."

Is there a time when its necessary to kick an opponent?

85 never even touched the ball, and then Lewis lit him up. The only separation was 85's helmet from his head...

It's not Ray's fault Palmer wasn't accurate.

Buehler445 10-16-2009 11:55 AM

Didn't see it. Don't really care, but I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I hate Ray Lewis.

"Too much sizzle on that hit; ban him from the NFL".

That was badass.

That makes "Scott Egoli" look like a brilliant nickname, by comparison...

Garcia Bronco 10-16-2009 12:45 PM

He led with this helmet face down. Had he led with his shoulder it's a clean hit.

Crashride 10-16-2009 12:50 PM

If 85 sent a twit to roger goodell to NOT fine him then that says it all

OmahaChief 10-16-2009 12:59 PM

Combine the shit team we have in KC with the pussification of the NFL and I am starting to really dislike the NFL. If it not for fantasy football I could care less about it this year.

TrickyNicky 10-16-2009 01:27 PM

This is going to be happening all season. I hope our db coach is coaching the safeties to hit low.

"Ochocinco lost his helmet during the collision, but immediately popped up from the turf. After the game, the boisterous receiver used his Twitter account to ask NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for leniency.

"Please don't fine Ray Lewis Mr. Roger Goodell, it was a clean hit, it's part of the game, save the fines for me," Ochocinco wrote."

Duck Dog 10-16-2009 01:39 PM

They have some good team unity. Albert gets hit with a cheapshot and nobody does anything on KC.

Chiefaholic 10-16-2009 04:17 PM

The pussification of the NFL continues. Imagine the fines our '95 defense would have had with todays rules. If you don't want your franchise QB hit, BLOCK HIS ASS. If you don't want to get nailed catching a pass over the middle, make sure you're not within range of the safety or the QB is more accurate with his pass. The NFL that I grew to love was all about the hard hits and my team pounding the ball down their throats, despite the opponent knowing our gameplan.

These players get paid a TON of money knowing there could be serious health issues just like a boxer does when he enters the ring. If they want to play a sport where hitting is illegal, play golf or baseball.

Easy 6 10-16-2009 07:34 PM

I've never quit hating that guys guts, i dont care how many times he talks about 'getting tight with God' or 'man, i just respect the game so much', with that fakeass, hypersincere tone of voice he always uses when he wants to sound great.

Why? Why is Chad a dumbass in this instance? I grew up watching NFL football where hits like that were worshiped, not damned.
And the fact that Chad jumped up like a big boy instantaneously, ready to go again, reminds me of why I love watching this game when I could be ****ing whores and/or pumping my veins full of heroin on Sundays.

Looks like the league is going after him for the "hit" on Brady.

I need to see another angle, that doesnt look like helmet to helmet to me. Definitely late though.

Extremely late. The ball was a good 10-15yds past him when Lewis nailed him.

that should be legal
you ome across the middle you pay
your QB lays a pass up to high you pay

it's football
it's supposed to be violent

:spock: No. Not at all. A defensive player can do his job and make a textbook tackle by hitting and wrapping the player up.

What you are missing with this hit is Lewis LED WITH HIS HEAD.

It doesn't matter. Either it's a helmet-to-helmet or a personal foul late hit. Both ways, it's going to git you 15 yards and a bill from the NFL office.

So, if you believe that it wasn't helmet-to-helmet, then that's fine. It still doesn't change the fact that the hit was late.

Dave Lane 10-17-2009 09:04 AM

Yep the pussification of the league continues. Spearing (which is precisely what this is) has only been illegal in the NFL since the late 70s early 80's. ****ing idiots.

Education first then open moranic mouth.

First... Quit acting like an egotistical jackass. Second, I'de love to have one or two of the LB's on the Chiefs play with 3/4 the intensity that Lewis shows on the field. The Ravens are respected because they play with the same defensive intensity the 95 Chiefs did. I'de be willing to trade half our defensive starters for a LB with the defensive talent that Lewis shows on the feld (w/o the personal issues)

You do realize that this play LOST THE GAME for Baltimore.

Right?

Read my post again, I agreed it was late.

Even though he led with his head it seems he hit with his shoulder, I wish the vid would slow it down even more. The 15 yard penalty was deserved but the fine was not. I didnt see this kicking episode he had, THAT is deserving of a fine, not the hit.

Its all the same. The rule is you cannot contact a defenseless player in the head/neck area.

Halfcan 10-17-2009 02:10 PM

at least Ray did not stab him to death and get away in a limo
