Grade Each Area of the Team Today

Mine

QB:C-. Inaccurate, made poor decisions, but also plagued by drops. No huge INTs, but multiple mental errors and poor throws killed more than one drive
OL: C. Too much pressure in the passing game, but did well in the run game
RB: B-. Hit the holes well, but didn't do a good job of taking advantage of hitting the second level.
WR: C. Too many drops. Bowe was the only one who did anything today. Everyone else is an F
DL: C+ Decent job against the run, save for the evisceration by Portis
LB: D+. One pressure by Vrabel, and two sacks between he and Hali. DJ had one nice stop. Otherwise, nothing.
DB: B+. John McGraw gets an A-. Brown gets a D. Corners played really well
K: A+
P: C. Multiple poor kicks
KR/PR: B for Charles, F for Wade. Awful, awful game by Bobby Wade
Coaching: D+. Poor playcalling on 3rd down, and bizarre decisions on when to go for it vs. when to punt. Almost cost us.

DL: Good. Dorsey is coming on. Got some pressure.
LB: Invisible
DB: Average - Some long plays, but the Corners seems to break up some passes
K: MVP
P: Good
KR/PR: Kick returns were good. Punt returns were not. Chiefs cover kicks well
Coaching: Haley needs an OC.

QB: C- 3-4 bad passes but took care of ball which prevented a D
OL: D+ Couple of holes for LJ but 5 sacks keeps it from a C
RB: B LJ ran hard
WR: B- Bowe moved the chains but a couple slipped through his hands
DL: B+ Outside of the big play run defense was good.
LB: B Got pressure and Hali safety seals it
DB: B+ Outside of a couple of cooley plays over the middle good pass D
K: A+ The MVP
P: B Usual good job
KR/PR: C+ Morgan prevents disaster
Coaching:B Should have gone for TD on last drive to put game away.

I'm beginning to wonder if you guys watched the same game I sat through.

OL opened holes for Johnson on the left side and gave Cassel the most time he's had this season. He actually dropped back 7 steps and didn't have people in his face most of the time. A lot of the sacks were coverage sacks.

Johnson was the most consistent he's been in a bit. Charles is the one who showed very little in his few chances.

DL and LB kept pressure on Campbell/Odd Todd and Hali had several pressures, sacks and the safety. The LB's were hardly invisible.

No, this team is not perfect, but this was a better and more consistent effort than I've seen this season.

Rain Man 10-18-2009 05:04 PM

Before looking at others' grades, and without looking at stats, I would go with....

QB: B. Got penalized by some dropped passes, generally mistake free other than taking some sacks. No big plays, though.
OL: D+. We got some running movement, and I don't criticize them for getting owned by Haynesworth. We still took a lot of hits in the backfield.
RB: B-. LJ ran strong today. I didn't see him pass blocking very well, though.
WR: D. Dropped some easy passes today.
DL: B+. Generally seemed to hold the line and get some push. However, apparently three of the Redskins' linemen were backups or out of position. Knocked down some passes. Dorsey had a good game even if it doesn't show up in the stats.
LB: C-. Got a couple of sacks, but still not getting the pressure they should. I would've rated them lower if we'd given up more points. Demorrio had several plays today.
DB: A. I saw one bad angle by Brown, but for the most part this was a group of Musketeers today. McGraw made plays, Carr and Flowers covered well, and Leggett made the good special teams play (though Copper really made it).
K: A++++++. Succop is a bronzed god residing on the top of Mt. Olympus, throwing thunderbolts down at the mortal kickers.
P: A. I don't really know how Colquitt did, but I generally assume an A unless I see something otherwise.
KR/PR:
Coaching: B. Only two things I would overtly disagree with, and that's less than I had in a series with Herm. I'm growing to loathe those delayed draws for reasons I've mentioned many times. Also, I have to ask others: when we were up by three and had fourth down at their five with 40 seconds left, would you have kicked the field goal? I was surprised, because it gave Washington two chances for fluke plays: a blocked field goal and a kickoff return. I would've given LJ the ball on a wide run and either scored or had them pinned inside the five with 30 seconds left. Obviously, Haley's call worked out fine, but I wouldn't have kicked the field goal.

Mecca 10-18-2009 06:49 PM

It's hard to grade since today both offenses were completely inept.

It's a sad statement to see an entire game without a TD scored.

unlurking 10-18-2009 06:49 PM

Wow. I can't believe anyone would rate the OL performance above an F today?!?!

Also, you can't ignore how our TE ****ed up his blocking assignments.

DeezNutz 10-18-2009 06:51 PM

I saw two terrible teams. Grades? Anything above a C for most facets of the game would be a joke. Notable exceptions for the Chiefs: K and CBs.

Basically, today's game was the equivalent of watching old people ****. Not pretty in any capacity.

Yes because 90% chance it is successful and then it takes a TD to beat you. Even if they are pinned deep they only need one or two plays to try a long FG to tie the game.

Definitely the right call.

boogblaster 10-18-2009 06:53 PM

Offence c- ... littl' better at the run ... passing only 6 or 7 compete ...
Defence b- ... looked good against the run ... pass coverage littl' better ...

Kicking game A ... the kid is for real ... coverage was decent too ...
Coaching c- ... too many 1st down runs to the same hole ...
Overall C ... we played decent against a poor team today ... only thing they have is a decent D ....

Mecca 10-18-2009 06:54 PM

Today's game was so bad the most offense we saw was the 5 minutes they switched us to the Ravens/Vikings game and Ray Rice ran it in.

LMAO

I believe it was Gannon who said, "Burn the tapes."

That should be a sufficient grade.

Todays game reminded me of any random Marty game Circa 91 or 92.

Im starting to get the feeling that Mecca would critsize a 15-1 season.

"Well, we should have went 16-0"

"Our QB only threw for 40 TD's this year.....hes no Dan Marino or Drew Brees"

Yadda, yadda yadda.....

Mecca 10-18-2009 07:20 PM

If you think that was an awesome performance by all means be my guest.

It was 2 inept teams battling to see who could be worse than the other.

It was a comment about how ****ing boring it was, watching 2 inept teams struggle and seeing no TD's for an entire game is awful.

carlos3652 10-18-2009 07:22 PM

Mecca to clarify, not trying to be a dick, just that we won against a mediocre team that no one thought we could beat... Even u stated that u would give them a better chance at home but not on the road... All I read from you today is how bad our offense was..

I have been disgusted with Sean Ryan's blocking all season and today it was a F'n joke as well.

Coach 10-18-2009 07:23 PM

Ryan is a terrible blocker. Why Haley still continues to think he is a blocker, is unknown to me.

But Ryan is a good receiving TE.

carlos3652 10-18-2009 07:24 PM

Cool, thanks for the clarification - I guess I'm happy we won, regardless of how we play. Sine we don't win very often even vs horrible teams...

They weren't supposed to win that game, especially on the road. Many had chalked it up as an L. The Redskins came into the game with a top 5 defense, so it is not like they have a bunch of scrubs on D.

tk13 10-18-2009 07:28 PM

Well, despite all that, we won. That's something. If we'd blown this one late like we have about 3 other games, people would be beside themselves with how we could lose to the Redskins like that.

No, this team is not perfect, but this was a better and more consistent effort than I've seen this season.

The problem with the o-line still remains consistency. Having time to throw the ball isn't a luxury if the QB is continuously scared that 3 seconds into the snap, there's going to be rushers in his face. Even when there isn't pressure, the QB's always thinking about it.

Because to me, Haynesworth was owning the Chiefs' offensive line all game. And nothing is worse for a QB than a DT who is always getting up in his face, even if the protection isn't perfect. The protection was better, but that's like bragging about smelling mostly like shit instead of completely like shit.

The Redskins have the worst offense I have ever seen, their offense should be laughed at for how bad it is. And they don't really lack players either.

Thier O is horrible and they really shouldn't be. I'll agree with that. Campbell missed Moss on what should have been an easy TD early in the game.

OL - F in pass protection, C in rushing offense.

LOL, well I really like football but I also would like some entertainment out of the game.

Today's game was just bad offense everywhere, it's a good win for a team that couldn't win but as a fan it was a snoozer.

unlurking 10-18-2009 08:00 PM

I don't know, felt kind of like a horror flick to me, kept me on the edge of my seat. Watching Cassel is like watching every bimbo being chased with a knife, chain saw, machette, etc.

Replace:
"Why do the dumb bitches always go into the woods alone?"

With:
"Why do the dumb bitches always call a draw?"

Maybe after a few more games I'll be bored with it, but hey, it's like the good guys finally won in Saw VI!

At this point in time, the situation has become so desperate that any win is indeed ****ing huge. And I mean huge.

Perhaps this can establish some type of momentum and confidence.

This. Plus we need wins to entice players who are FA to want to come here. They need to see a team moving in the right direction to not only bring in players, but keep what few building blocks we have at this time

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-18-2009 08:31 PM

Part of the point of grading the team is figuring out areas of weakness so that they can be addressed, so the team will win more.

****'s sake :shake:

Dave Lane 10-19-2009 08:23 AM

Does Haley or the Chiefs staff actually read and take into account your grades? If not you are just some monkey flinging flaming poo on the internet.

I think we need victory Monday which is when we win a game for one day every negative post must include something positive too :)
