LJ's "apology"

Adam_Schefter PART I: Through his agent, Larry Johnson just released a statement, apologizing to Todd Haley, the Chiefs, the NFL, Roger Goodell.

Adam_Schefter PART 2: Johnson: "I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration., and they were not appropriate."

Adam_Schefter PART 3: "I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said. I will do my best to learn from this."

EDIT: Here is the entire text:

"First of all, I want to apologize to the fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the NFL, Commissioner Goodell, the Chiefs organization, Coach Todd Haley, his staff, and my teammates for the words I used yesterday. I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration, and they were not appropriate. I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said.

"I also want to apologize to all the kids who view athletes as role models. I was not a good role model yesterday and hopefully I can become a better role model. We all make mistakes, and the challenge is to learn from them. I will do my best to learn from this one as I move toward becoming a better person, teammate, and member of the Kansas City Chiefs team and community."

Not me.

I hate LJ. He whined when he didn't get to play. He whined when he wanted a new contract. He whined that he wanted out of town. And now he's whining because we suck. He only stopped whining for a short period of time because he knew that we could cut/trade him with no salary cap hit.

But then he goes out and runs for 2 yards and then falls down. Or he runs into the back of his offensive line instead of trying to break the run.

The dude needs to get the **** off of this team now. I would rather watch Jamaal Charles or Kolby Smith run for 3 yards each time instead of watching this douchebag steal money from the organization.

Chiefs ban Larry Johnson from team activities

The Chiefs have ordered Larry Johnson to refrain from team activities until their investigation of his Twitter conduct is concluded.
The Chiefs will hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon to address the comments made by Johnson on Twitter Sunday night. LJ has released a statement through his agent, apologizing to Todd Haley, the Chiefs, and the NFL. It rings hollow, however, when he says his intent was not to offend anyone even though he used a gay slur and belittled his head coach. He's essentially been suspended even if the Chiefs aren't using that word. Oct. 27 - 1:18 pm et

Because it sets a bad precedent, especially when they have repeatedly stated that they are looking for the "right 53." In criticizing and disrespecting the head coach and organization, along with the history of poor, inappropriate decisions that he's made, it's an easy choice to see that he's not a part of the "right 53." They gave him a chance. Haley fed him the ball and got him involved in the game. Larry ran without purpose or care. To give a roster spot and a starting position to a guy who bad mouthed and second guessed the coach (and this wasn't the first time this season - remember when he did his best Whitlock impression in his post game presser? Ego...ego...ego...) takes away from the effort given by guys who are actually trying their best.

At this point, the team is much better off just letting Larry walk.

Agreed, and I really hope he doesn't play another down with the Chiefs. He only needs 70 or so more yards(I'm not sure of the exact number, so correct me if I'm wrong) to pass Priest for the most yards in franchise history. I'd much rather that this record stay with Priest until someone respectable can claim that honor.

This was obviously written by Larry's lawyer. Here's the apology if it were actually drafted by Leon, uh, Larry himself:

"First of all, I want to apologize to my posse, my broker, Jay-Z, and all the MF's and hangers on that rely on me to pay the tab at the club. To the fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the NFL, Commissioner Goodell, the Chiefs organization, Coach Todd Haley, his staff, and my teammates, kiss my lemony fress azz. If you'd open a hole or two, I wouldn't have this whack 2.7 carry average. I'm sick of all y'all. I got almost as many carries as Adrian Peterson. At least he got a damn O-Line to bust a seam for him now and agin. Damn. The words were used by me in flustration, And I'm as flustrated now as Herm was bout this time last year. I did not intend to offend any of you press homos, but that is no excuse for what I said, callin you all pillowbiters and such. I shoulda called you poopie pokers or somethin' cute like that. My bad, my bad.

"I also want to apologize to all the kids who view athletes as role models. I'm prob'ly gonna lose a sh*tload of money over all this, and bling is what I'm about, right? We all make mistakes. Like, you shouldn't rap about your boss. Or tweet about your boss. Or throw a drink in some club ho's face. Or spit on some ho. Or complain about how much time you get on the field. Or talk about your bosses ego. I will do my best to learn from this one as I go play for Oakland, or Philly, or Chicago, or Atlanta or some other bouncin' happenin' spot, no sh*thole like KC. Damn, get me the HELL outta here NOW!"

Then a couple hours later, he'll tweet about it, and say how he really feels.

News
Chiefs suspend Johnson indefinitely

Posted: October 27th, 2009 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Kansas City Chiefs, Larry Johnson, Todd Haley

The Kansas City Chiefs suspended RB Larry Johnson indefinitely on Tuesday, saying they are continuing to investigate his recent comments in which he reportedly belittled coach Todd Haley via Twitter and reportedly used gay slurs addressing media in the locker room. Johnson has been barred from practicing with the team or participating in team activities, with no timetable given for his return.

Haley is expected to address the situation surrounding Johnson during a news conference Tuesday, which is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. ET. That news conference can be seen live on NFL Network.

The Chiefs released a statement Tuesday announcing the decision on Johnson.

“The Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League are continuing to investigate the alleged comments made by Larry Johnson,” the statement read. “Until that review is complete, the Chiefs have instructed Larry to refrain from practicing with the Chiefs or participating in other team activities. A decision regarding Larry’s status will be made once the investigation has concluded.”

Johnson released an apology of his own Tuesday through his representatives.

“First of all, I want to apologize to the fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the NFL, Commissioner Goodell, the Chiefs organization, Coach Todd Haley, his staff, and my teammates for the words I used yesterday,” the statement read. ”I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration, and they were not appropriate.

“I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said. I also want to apologize to all the kids who view athletes as role models. I was not a good role model yesterday and hopefully I can become a better role model. We all make mistakes, and the challenge is to learn from them.

“I will do my best to learn from this one as I move toward becoming a better person, teammate, and member of the Kansas City Chiefs team and community.”

Gonzo 10-27-2009 12:23 PM

Ok gang...

I would think they could suspend him for the year for conduct, wouldn't you guys?

Would that free up a roster spot or not?

I am not really clear on the rules.

The Chiefs will hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon at 2:40 P.M. E.T. to address the comments made by Johnson on Twitter Sunday night. LJ has released a statement through his agent, apologizing to Todd Haley, the Chiefs, and the NFL. It rings hollow, however, when he says his intent was not to offend anyone even though he used a gay slur and belittled his head coach. Through his agent Larry Johnson announced he will be admitting himself into a treatment facility for ACS syndrome while the investigation is on going. No further details have been given nor did he elaborate on when LJ was officially diagnosed with ACS syndrome. Members of the Gay and Lesbian communities have condemned his comments as insensitive and unfortunate. Oct. 27 - 2:18 pm et

I can assure you HE didn't say that- his agent had a writer write it all down for him and he repeated it. If Larry Johnson offered an apology it would've been an ignorant rant filled with racist slurs and F-bombs defending his actions.

fuck Larry! I'm sick of his bullsh*t and he can be raped by a water buffalo for all I care. Good fucking riddance you asshat. What a disgrace to the Chiefs and the sport he is.

CoMoChief 10-27-2009 12:42 PM

This is ****ing stupid. There shouldnt be a ****ing PC over this.

There's this thing called locker room speak. Ever heard of it? Racial slurs, jokes, gay bashing, faqqot jokes, all kinds of shit is said. Me and my friends call eachother faqqots ,queers, pussies etc all the time. This is just guy speak. If you're in a locker room, out on the golf course etc youre gonna hear this kinda shit. BFD. I can guarantee you N-bombs, F bombs and all kinds of shit is said on the football field during the game. Shit sometimes you can barely hear it slip out on the TV, then it immediately gets muted.

Then uh ooh,.....the queen organizations rally up and demand action because someone of celebrity statute/pro athlete called someone a faqqot. Boo ****ing hoooo. This wouldn't even be an issue 20-30 yrs ago. There's one thing to disgrace someone because the color of their skin/race. I get that. It's another to make fun of men for boning other men (LOL while typing that part).

There's this thing called being a professional. It's obvious to me that you have no idea how to conduct yourself professionally, especially with several comments coming out from you lately.

Larry Johnson is being paid to be a professional. He is privileged to be able to play in the NFL, one of the greatest and most important profession in the world. He has the responsibility to uphold the standards that is asked out of him, and that's no different than any other players or coaches in the NFL.

There's enough criticism at every level across the country that players cannot afford to operate any other way than with honesty and integrity. That's their jobs. If they can't do this, then they shouldn't be playing.

Honestly, I don't care what Larry Johnson does during his free time, as long as he doesn't do anything stupid or making comments that is considered inappropriate. But Larry Johnson choose to use poor choice of words, and he's not one bit sorry of it, you and I know that.

What Larry did is a disgrace. Whatever he does or say, he represent the team, no different from the other guys who wear the Chiefs jersey. And right now, he's embarrasing this football team.

You don't think any other guys on this board would trade in their lifestyle for millions of dollars and only have to practice and play a game on Sunday (or Mondays)?

I'd advise you to think before posting.

Football is a ****ing G-A-M-E, dumbass. A GAME......if you want to simply put it. Is it a privilege? Sure it is. I wish I could get millions to sit at home and shoot hoops all ****ing day.

To call it the greatest profession in the world means you don't know what the hell you're talking about. There are murders playing this league. Dog killers, and other drug addicts that play in this league. LJ calls someone a faqqot and then the whole sky falls.

Big deal, you know what kinda shit is said on the ****ing sidelines of an NFL game. Shit Todd Haley?!?!?!?! Gunther?!?!?!? Players out on the field talking shit? You kidding me? A game? The worlds greatest profession? :spock:

The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business.

Still a game. Not DR, a scientists, FBI agent, whatever job profession is considered in high regards.

Football is a game, and entertainment venue for fans. NOTHING MORE, the amount of money it makes still doesn't take away from that fact.

He has, after all, learned from his past mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake...

For his next trick, Larry will kick the crutches out from under some crippled kids.

suds79 10-27-2009 03:50 PM

blah, blah, blah. His agent wrote this.

Agent - Larry we're putting this out. okay?

LJ - Sure.

Agent - okay good. Keep a low profile for a while.

This is the dumbest thing I've read all day:

I can't blame LJ because he gaves this team all he had for two straight years.

Has there ever been a sincere public apology by a famous person? Ever? I doubt it.

"I'm sorry I got caught."

"I'm sorry my livelihood has been threatened by the consequences of my actions, which I sincerely meant and really enjoyed, by the way."

"I'm sorry I have to waste my time issuing this ****ing statement. **** you stupid sheep. I'm rich. Why do I have to put up with this crap?"

That's what they should be saying, and I have no doubt that's what they're thinking.

Larry Johnson apologizing is like the customer service guy from Comcast apologizing. It all means the same thing - **** YOU.

I honestly don't understand why it is so important in our society to see someone stand in front of a bunch of microphones and lie.
