NCAA Rules Dez Bryant Out for Season
Posted Oct 27, 2009 9:24PM By Ray Holloman (RSS feed) Filed Under: Oklahoma State http://www.blogcdn.com/ncaafootball..../bryant_v1.jpg Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant will not have his eligibility restored this season, the NCAA announced Tuesday night. Bryant, a preseason All-American, was suspended four weeks ago by Oklahoma State after the school learned he had lied to the NCAA about a meeting with former NFL star Deion Sanders. The NCAA later ruled him ineligible Oct. 7. "I made a mistake by not being entirely truthful when meeting with the NCAA," Bryant said in a statement at the time. I sincerely regret my mistake and apologize to my teammates, coaches, OSU fans and the NCAA." Oklahoma State is appealing the ruling and expects a decision next week. Bryant's eligibility will be restored by the NCAA next September, though the junior is expected to be among the first wide receivers selected in the NFL Draft. The NCAA accused Bryant with violating bylaw 10.1, which deals with "unethical conduct," including "knowingly furnishing the NCAA or the individual's institution false or misleading information concerning the individual's involvement in or knowledge of matters relevant to a possible violation of an NCAA regulation." For the Cowboys, the ruling couldn't come at a worse time. Oklahoma State faces Big 12 South favorite Texas this weekend in Stillwater, Okla. Bryant caught 17 receptions for 323 yards and four touchdowns in four games this season. He caught 87 passes for 1,480 yards and 19 touchdowns a year ago. http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/200...ut-for-season/ |
Well, he lied to investigators. There should be a severe penalty for that.
|
I wonder if this will hurt his stock.
|
I'd love to see all the division 1 athletes walk off and boycott the NCAA.

The NFL needs to take action to keep Deion Sanders in check.

He did make a mistake whe he lied to the NCAA, but this ruling is ridiculous. |
The Chiefs should trade down and draft him. He's a great player.

Two games would have absolutely been enough. They're just taking one of the best players out of the game...shooting themselves in the foot.

Yes. The scuttlebutt is, he was the one who gave Crabtree the bad advice to hold out. Deion "advises" about 20-30 guys is what ive read. Basically he gets bored and its a way for him to keep himself involved in the league. Keep in mind he is also employed by the NFL Network as well. |

seems a little harsh to me. but coming from a nazi organization like the NCAA I guess I'm not too surprised.

This is why I don't like NCAA sports. They are so screwed up right down to their playoff system. Or lack there of. Its all about money. Same as the NFL. Only difference is the NFL admits it and the NCAA says its all about the kids. Bullshit. They are jokes.
|
The Chiefs shouldn't be drafting him because if you want a WR you should be waiting till the year after.
He doesn't compare to that class. |

But it's fine for boosters to rent a house for Reggie Bush's family.

I think he's terribly overrated. |
They should give him a break, he's an Okie, we're not real smart.
|
don't get me started.
they get special tutors for some "Golf Tee-ology" or "Theory of Football Lacing" class to make passing grades and then a "college diploma" at the end. Lots of those damn corner crack dealers can't balance a freakin' checkbook. they couldn't walk in a bank without some one pressing the alarm button and screaming "it's a hold up!!!!" all the while some kid that would give his eye teeth for a chance at an education can't get the time of day. usually he's the wrong color and gender. ya, it's all about the kids alright. |

His route running is suspect, he's from the spread etc etc, he may be great one day but he's by no means ready to go on day one. |

I don't think he'll be ready to contribute for a long time he's extremely raw.
Damian Williams is much more ready. |

There's nothing wrong with Williams. Not as physical of a player as Bryant. Bryant is more talented, Williams a better route runner. |
Hey Mecca is Haley one of them "raw" coaches
