Bearcat 12-14-2009 08:12 PM

Sure-Oz 12-14-2009 08:15 PM

I may take it easy with the girl, play some wii etc, order food, maybe a party

last year we went to the 810am sports dinner and that was a pretty good time, great food at garozzos

CrazyPhuD 12-14-2009 08:16 PM

Party like it's 1999.

Bwana 12-14-2009 08:16 PM

Steak, Crab, Shrimp, Lobster and some tasty beverages....at home. Screw amateur night.

This. New year's is one of those rare nights where I prefer a house party to a night at the bar. My plans are to empty the keg my buddy's got to buy for losing a bet.

I always make it one hell of a feast on New Years Eve.

mlyonsd 12-14-2009 08:19 PM

I'm taking a stand right now.

At midnight I'll strip down to my ice fishing boots and sprint around the house one time.

Bank on it. I'm one of those people that needs goals.

Bearcat 12-14-2009 08:20 PM

Going to Bwana's.

If it's cold enough, you won't have to worry about anyone seeing anything.

Good for you. Sounds great. I will be feasting on Dungenous crab fresh from here on the north coast. I think it is the best, but I get it fresh here. I am biased. Never had fresh King so I guess I am comparing apples to oranges. Ever try Dungenous?

Heh, my nearest neighbor is a mile away. Right now I'm hoping for no wind and 75 degrees.

NewChief 12-14-2009 08:26 PM

Some friends of ours are having a big party out in the country at their house. We all have kids, so we're getting a communal sitter at another friend's house to stay with the kids through the night.

Sure sign that I'm getting old: the whole thing just sounds like a giant pain in the ass to me. I wish I was cooking a good dinner, building a fire, drinking a good bottle of scotch and chilling at the house.

My nearest neighbor is a Viking fan who's eyes don't match up. His nickname at the local cafe is 'Snickers'. I don't think I'll be taking that chance. Seriously, he's a Jared Allen kind of crazy Viking....who's, did I mention this, eyes don't match up.

Another year of trying to explain time zones to my kids.

"But Daddy! The Ball dropped in Times Square, so it's the New Year!"

"NO IT fuckING ISN'T YET! IT IS THE NEW YEAR IN NEW YORK, BUT IT IS 10:00PM HERE. SO, WE STILL HAVE TWO HOURS TO GO BEFORE IT'S THE NEW YEAR HERE!!!"

I'm convinced the little fuckers know and are just goading me up, but I fall for it every year anyway.

Yeah... I had a friend who was in town a couple of years ago from London, and last year it was my brother's 21st birthday. Before that I was either working NYE or NYD every year, so it was just another night.... I'm thinking low key this year, maybe have a couple of friends/family over for food, drinks, movies and/or video games....

Or Bwana's.

Probably stay home, grill steak and shrimp. Most likely asleep before midnight. Local gangsters firing guns in the air will wake me up. Every few years someone gets clipped by a bullet on its downward spiral.

As of right now I don't have any plans. I will probably crack open a bottle/2 of Veuve Cliquot and celebrate. I can see the fireworks from my place so I don't have to go anywhere. Probably pick up a couple of Romeo Y Julieta cigars and I'll be good to go. What to eat? I don't know. I usually don't care too much as to what.

If they're school age, you should wake them up two hours early on the next school day. If they give you any lip, tell them that all the kids in Times Square are getting ready for school.

Pssh.. step up your game! This month entails my gf's birthday, graduation, Hanukkah, Christmas, family vacation, New Years, a post-New Years romantic/relaxing vacation with the gf, then Valentine's day in Feb. Doing something for each of them and multiple things for some of them. However, I am Awesome, so that probably has something to do with it. ;)

I think I'm actually going out with a girl. She was lamenting the fact she had no one to kiss at midnight and I pretty much volunteered for the job. And I told her it was my birthday, which it is. I told her I had no plans since my family doesn't celebrate birthdays and she seemed kind of intent on showing me a good time. So, I guess we'll see.
