How many years at your residence?

December 15th was a milestone, got my first 30 yrs in.
Doesnt say a whole lot since my great grandpa bought the farm in 34'.

So how many years do you have?
If youve been in the same place for decades why?

CaliforniaChief 12-17-2009 02:04 PM

Bought my current house as a foreclosure in May 2008. So, 1 and a half years at this house, nearly 6 in Southern California.

seclark 12-17-2009 02:06 PM

going on 3 years at the current place.

lived 19 years at our old house.

Moved into this apartment in october of 2003. I'll stay until the day that my hatred of the annual rent increase (which didn't happen this year!) surpasses my hatred of moving.

Bugeater 12-17-2009 02:08 PM

10 yrs at my current place.

The Franchise 12-17-2009 02:12 PM

9 months.

SAUTO 12-17-2009 02:13 PM

9 YEARS but its paid for

DaFace 12-17-2009 02:14 PM

Bought our house in April, so about 8 months here.

booyaf2 12-17-2009 02:31 PM

Bought in May, moved from across town. Lived there about 5 1/2 years.

Hog's Gone Fishin 12-17-2009 02:33 PM

7years

Sandyskc 12-17-2009 02:35 PM

11 years.

rageeumr 12-17-2009 02:37 PM

March will be 4 years. I might push a decade in it, even if it gets too small. Moving is pretty much my least favorite activity in the world.

TrebMaxx 12-17-2009 02:49 PM

Close to 10 years.

Duck Dog 12-17-2009 02:52 PM

Bought this house new 4 years ago.

Frazod 12-17-2009 03:04 PM

8 1/2 years now, with no plans to go anywhere else. Almost 10 at my job.

Stability is nice. It was a long time coming.

Dayze 12-17-2009 03:10 PM

Fish 12-17-2009 03:12 PM

There is a moment of sheer panic when I realize that sd4chiefs' apartment overlooks the park... and is obviously more expensive than mine.

From birth to age 18, I lived in one location. From age 19-27 (the present), I have lived in 9 locations. I'm done with that shit, though, so hopefully I'll never reach your level.

Dartgod 12-17-2009 03:36 PM

11 years at my current location. Wish I could say that we won't make it to 12, but with the economy and job situation unsettled, it would be stupid to take on bigger house payments anytime soon.

LiL stumppy 12-17-2009 03:40 PM

5 years. Moving Monday

Frazod 12-17-2009 03:41 PM

Let's see:

Born in Kansas City
Moved to Callao at six months
Moved to Macon at age three, lived in five different places
Moved to Jefferson City at age seven, lived in four different places
Moved to Lee's Summit at 15
Moved to Kirksville at 16, lived in two different places
Enlisted in Navy - bootcamp in Orlando, school in Meridian, MS, stationed on ship in Norfolk, had three different apartments in Norfolk, Justice School in Newport RI, barracks at Great Lakes (two different ones), apartment in Waukegan. Also had an apartment with the ex-wife in Columbia
Got out of Navy, moved to Buffalo Grove at 24
Moved to Rosemont at 25 (two different apartments)
Moved to Chicago at 27 (five different apartments)
Moved to Naperville at 36

Hell, that's more than 31.

Granted, some of those I don't barely remember or had more to do with parents getting divorced/remarried/divorced again, and a good chuck were because of the military and didn't exactly involve a lot of work), but still, yeah, I've gotten around. I literally take up pages of peoples' address books. :D

I live in the house I grew up in. I turned 50 this year. Except when I lived in Columbia in the 1980s it's always been home.

Yeah, because KC Fish's post was three whole posts below my response. Wow, that must be what - three or four inches away on the average computer monitor? I can see how you might have missed it.

You took the short bus to school, didn't you?

MikeMaslowski 12-17-2009 04:00 PM

Here x 2.5 years.

Radar Chief 12-17-2009 04:02 PM

I moved the Radar family into a new, to us, domicile last July after living in my old residence for 13 years.
I bought the old place as a bachelor pad, which turned into a married couple pad, which became too small after increasing the size of the family by one causing us to buy bigger and move.

Rain Man 12-17-2009 04:06 PM

14 years at my current home, which is a record I'm breaking every day.

Second-most was my parents' house in Rolla at 10 years.

Third-most is 2.5 years at a house in Springfield.

I've lived in 21 places for 3 months or more during my 46 years of life.
