Avatar Movie Question

Hoping my Chiefs brothers and sisters can help me out. Is this movie adapted from the cartoon series? I don't follow the cartoon, but my sons love it. I was going to take them to see the movie, but it looks very, very different. Are there earth and water benders in the movie?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Demonpenz 12-18-2009 10:08 AM

it's dances with wolves meets 3 amigo's

Fat Elvis 12-18-2009 10:10 AM

No. It isn't an adaptation of the cartoon. (I was hoping for that as well when I first heard of the movie.) Basically, it is a $400M James Cameron hallucination as far as I can tell.

The internet expands beyond CP. I know, crazy...I just figured this out like a week ago.

You're thinking of completely different movies...

WOW DMAC. My apologies if my question offended you. Thanks everybody. I appreciate the feedback and help.

The movie out now isn't related to the Nickelodean series, that movie will be out early summer 2010. I'm looking forward to that one. M Knight Shyamalan is directing and it should be interesting IMO.

The Last Airbender looks much, much cooler than Avatar.

Nixhex 12-18-2009 10:57 AM

I wish they would advertise this movie more.

Big difference:

Avatar has James Cameron

Air Bender has M Night Shamalongacrap

DMAC 12-18-2009 11:58 AM

I read in some article (don't remember where, but I think it was linked on Drudge) that he came up with the story years ago, and the blue people were something he first thought up when he was a kid.

I am looking forward to seeing this. Probably not this weekend, but definitely in the next couple of weeks.

I saw this movie last night. It's Matrix meets Jurassic Park meets Pocahontas. The CGI is amazing. I'm not big on Sci-Fi but I think it's a must see.

I think every James Cameron movie should end with the death of Leonardo DiCaprio.
