HUMAN TARGET...get ready

1 Attachment(s)
Hey Chiefs Planet members....this is one of the most exciting TV series I've ever worked on...Mark Valley is amazing as Christopher Chance...a guy hired to flush out the bad guy....kind of Bourne meets Bond...you'll love it. I'm Mark's stand-in/photo-double...Jan. 17th....huge explosions, hot chicks, and fights.....great entertainment as our red and gold are out...(yet again)....

CanadaKC 12-21-2009 01:52 AM

check out the trailers out there
....let me know what you think...

patteeu 12-21-2009 08:39 AM

Congratulations. Is it a network show? Good luck with it!

You haven't seen the omnipresent commercials for it? I skip commercials and still can't miss them. Looks like at least his first assignment is to protect the cylon babe Tricia Helfer.

CanadaKC 12-21-2009 10:53 AM

yeah...in the pilot episode...Christopher Chance pretends he's a translator to protect Helfer's character on a bullet train...she was great to work with...:)

My TV watching is pretty limited. I've watched a couple of football games and one episode of How I Met Your Mother (which is weird because I'm not a regular HIMYM viewer) over the last couple of weeks and that's about it. I used to watch Heroes and The Unit and I'll watch Lost when it returns, but my evenings are pretty occupied and we don't get cable or satellite.

Reaper16 12-21-2009 11:27 AM

I like Mark Valley (I'm a Boston Legal fanboy) so I'll check this show out.

CanadaKC 12-21-2009 12:16 PM

This tv series will propel Mark Valley into the next level of fame...he's a good actor but somewhat unknown at this point...I guarantee everyone will know him by season's end...the Chance role suits him perfectly. John McClain meets Jason Bourne....my fave episodes we shot so far are the Russian Embassy and the monastary...you'll see why soon :thumb:

ElGringo 12-21-2009 07:05 PM

Must admit, looks good, and I try to watch as much american tv as I can, figure will give this a shot, hopefully it is as good as it looks. Thanks for bringing it to at least my attention.

big nasty kcnut 12-21-2009 09:46 PM

Hey is there a hot female lead on the show?

CanadaKC 12-22-2009 01:11 AM

That's not a bad first assignment.

If it turns out to be a good show Fox might cancel it after 2 seasons instead of 1.

Good luck!

CanadaKC 12-22-2009 01:33 PM

Of course I'm biased...but this show rocks...it's based on a comic character...it can be dark at times...but also very funny....a lot of kick-ass fights and stunts...and it was awesome working with all those woman...as you'll see in upcoming episodes...

It sounds like Fox trying to capture some of the magic that USA did with Burn Notice.

OK CP members..tonight's the night...although it's up against the Golden Globes....first episode on a train, second on a plane...the 3rd....my personal fave so far that we've shot...is at the Russian embassy...(although the one we just finished which takes place in central america will kick ass). Enjoy it!!!

I think he stands in for lighting and blocking. Remember when that was Kramer's [and his midget friend's] gig on Seinfeld?

smaller stunts yes...but mostly his photo-double and stand-in. His stunt double, Jeff, is insane.

It's on my TiVo. Liked the premise, and he was cool on "Fringe". And he must be a likable guy, 'cause in his short time on "Fringe" he apparently managed to get the lead actress to fall in love with him and marry him. :)

Reaper16 01-23-2010 07:36 PM

If you don't think of Mark Valley's role on Boston Legal whenever you see him then you are a ****.

CanadaKC 01-25-2010 09:37 AM

I think of Valley now as Chance in Human Target more than Boston Legal ...this is the show that he's been waiting for...that lends itself most to his talent...and there's no reason to use the C word dude...

Tonight's episode was a big improvement and everything seemed to click where the first two merely had their moments. The supporting cast of Jackie Earle Haley and Chi McBride are damn solid.

patteeu 01-27-2010 07:48 AM

Interesting trivia about Mark Valley:

1. He graduated from West Point with a degree in Mathematics and served in Operation Desert Storm

2. Story told by his uncle:

FROM THE VALLEY: A $6 million phone call

Last week, I sent an e-mail to my nephew, Mark. I’ve written about Mark in the past — he’s a West Point graduate/Iraq War veteran turned actor. He’s appeared in several movies and has had some plum roles on various television shows. It feels weird at times, not only knowing, but, being related to someone who’s ... well ... famous. He admitted to me, recently, that even he finds it strange, seeing himself on screen.

He’s the star of a new program being aired on the Fox Network called “Human Target.” I sent him regards and wished him “good luck” with the show — which was premiering a few days from the time I wrote.

We had talked this summer about the project, but at the time he had only completed the pilot episode. Back then, he mentioned that production was at the hands of the network as to how many shows it ordered ... or something of that nature. (What? Like I can remember?)

Mark is a great guy. Now, I know what you’re thinking: I’m only saying that because I’m his uncle. Not at all! Nor is it because Mark has dropped the stalking charge he filed against me while he was on a show called “Boston Legal” (I think it was him). That’s not it, either. You see, it’s because he’s a down-to-earth, regular type of guy. Whether it’s acting, writing or mountain climbing, he attacks each venture with a passion that leaves little — if any — room for the extraneous nonsense of ego. Notoriety isn’t bad, it’s just not that important to him.

I’m not even sure if he understands his stature in the business (or cares) as evidenced by the return e-mail he sent me. I figured it was a column-worthy anecdote and so I’ll share it with you (with his permission, of course).

First, you have to realize that here’s a guy who just last week had his full-page picture splashed across the country in all of the major newspapers. TV promos for “Human Target” have been airing regularly during major network programming. And a couple years ago he was listed in People magazine’s 50 sexiest stars. He’s also been the feature image on that iconic sign towering over Times Square several times during the last few years.

Now with that said, I offer this small nugget — his e-mail to me oozing with excitement — to demonstrate how admirably-grounded he is.

“Thanks, Uncle Tom, things are going well, really well. Reviews have all been good.” He was glad to hear about the reviews — a natural pride that anyone would have for something they had worked hard on.

But then it’s what came after that, that I found amusing. Mind you, this guy has made movies with the likes of Bruce Willis, Denzel Washington and Madonna, and he says: “Highlight of the day, today: I got a call from my publicist saying that Lee Majors had called! Can you believe that?”

In an interview with People magazine, Mark once mentioned that while growing up, Lee Majors was one of his favorite TV stars. Majors had seen it, read it and contacted Mark.

Lee Majors! He’s not star-struck by the big hitters of the industry but when the “Six Million Dollar Man” comes a-knocking, Mark’s on cloud nine.

Mark further wrote that when he returned Majors’ call, he “was like an 8-year-old trying to dial the phone.” Majors thanked Mark for the kind words and returned the compliment, telling him he was also a fan of Mark’s.

I thought I’d share that story with you to illustrate how proud I am that Mark represents what most of us would like to see more of in our world today — an innocence untainted by the narcissistic values that have somehow permeated our society as a way of being hip. That’s all I’m saying. I’m done.

As my nephew said to me about that chat with his childhood idol: “True story. Can you believe it? Too cool.”

Mark is the son of my brother, Mike ... and my wife’s sister, Martha.

And, for this week, that’s the way it looks from the Valley.

big nasty kcnut 01-27-2010 09:01 AM

Mark is the son of my brother, Mike ... and my wife’s sister, Martha. ok is anybody else confused about this sentence.

No. Two brothers married two sisters. It's probably more common than you'd think, especially back in days when a lot of America lived in small towns. My grandfather's brother was married to my grandmother's sister. I have two cousins who are sisters and they married a pair of brothers.

I like the show so far. Fanboy mode has been activated by having guest stars from Battlestar Galactica in the first two episodes and then one from Firefly in the third episode.

Very entertaining show with just enough depth to make for a season long arch with largely weekly plots. The trio of lead actors worked very well together as well. Really hope this gets renewed.

Lie to Me is decent, if a little 'cookie cutter.' Same old reliable Columbo schtick with a tech twist. They use monitoring equipment and their expertise in human nature to tell when people are lying through microexpressions, rises in metabolism, pupil dialation, etc. Employ it privately, and occasionally for law enforcement on a contract basis. The 'drama' revolves around the ethics of their duties, mentoring new hires, and Roth's outsized character, moody, boozy, divorced [from someone also in the business], and a degenerate gambler [due to his 'abilities' to read people as much as anything else, so since he wins so much 'degenerate' is not the perfect description].

Tim Roth is clearly a big piece of the puzzle [I'm talking about regarding which show stays, not in the show itself] due to his profile.

For me, I just want some show with Kelli Williams' punim on it.

keg in kc 05-12-2010 03:19 PM

Apparently they've renewed both, and both will have new show runners. Matt Miller, formerly of Chuck, for Human Target and someone will be replacing Shawn Ryan on Lie to Me. Ryan's the show runner on a new Fox show called RideAlong.

I've never watched either, but I figure folks will be happy to hear the news...

Think bigger. Like the highest exective producer on the ladder. Responsible for everything creative on the show, the guy who answers directly to the network.

Dr. Google says:
Quote:

Show runner (alternatively showrunner[1]) is a term originating in the United States and Canadian television industry referring to the person who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a television series. (This should not be confused with runners, who are the most junior members of the production team.) The term is also occasionally applied to people in the television industries of other countries. Unlike films, where directors are typically in creative control of a production, in episodic television the showrunner usually outranks the director.[2]

Traditionally, the executive producer of a television program was the "chief executive", responsible for the show's production. Over time, the title of executive producer became applied to a wider range of roles, from those responsible for arranging financing to an honorific without actual management duties. The term "show runner" was created to identify the producer who actually held ultimate management and creative authority for the program. The blog (and book) Crafty Screenwriting defines showrunner as "the person responsible for all creative aspects of the show, and responsible only to the network (and production company, if it's not his production company). The boss. Usually a writer."[3]

Los Angeles Times columnnist Scott Collins describes show runners as:[4]
Quote:

"Hyphenates," a curious hybrid of starry-eyed artists and tough-as-nails operational managers. They're not just writers; they're not just producers. They hire and fire writers and crew members, develop story lines, write scripts, cast actors, mind budgets and run interference with studio and network bosses. It's one of the most unusual and demanding, right-brain/left-brain job descriptions in the entertainment world....[S]how runners make — and often create — the shows, and now more than ever, shows are the only things that matter. In the "long tail" entertainment economy, viewers don't watch networks. They don't even care about networks. They watch shows. And they don't care how they get them.[5]
Traditionally, the showrunner is the creator or co-creator of the series, but this is not always the case.[citation needed] In long-running shows, often the creator of the show moves on, and day-to-day responsibilities of showrunning falls to other writers or writing teams. ER, The Simpsons, The West Wing, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and NYPD Blue are all examples of long-running shows that went through multiple showrunners

Robio9 12-08-2010 10:29 AM

I'm disappointed by the way they transitioned from the season one cliffhanger. After the buildup of the season-long story arc involving the old man and Katherine Walters, I was hoping they would show up in the season 2 premiere. Are we going to see either of those characters again? Also wish they would have made Emanuelle Vaugier as a cast member rather than the two new women.

I thought it has improved. Adding the rich boss who supplies the high end equipment and the little cute thief girl have been good moves. They allow for more room to have cool operations going.

Sadly, though, it seems they have abandoned the storyline that has Chase's ex boss/mentor trying to find and kill him.

The best character on the show, hands down. Jackie Earl Haley is an excellent choice for the role.

kcxiv 12-08-2010 02:25 PM

I like the Thief chick. She's cool. she just needs a few more episodes so the writers can see what she can do. I do NOT like the rich boss chick. She's annoying as hell. She always wants shit done the right way, yet, everything they have ever done is for a good purpose but none of it is right!

YEs, Jackie Earl Haley ****ing kicks ass in his role. Glad to see he's getting chances to earn some money now days. He also played a kick ass Freddy in the new Nightmare movie.

DaneMcCloud 12-08-2010 02:35 PM

Not a big fan of the changes to this show.

In it's first season, it felt like an Indiana Jones meets A Team type of series. Great "motion picture" style scoring from Bear McCreary, intrigue and mystery behind the main characters and some kickass fight and action sequences.

Well, they fired the old show runner and put the guy the that runs "Chuck" in charge. They replaced Bear's great scoring with the guy that does "Chuck" and the new theme sounds like a bad garage band (as does most of the score). They're revealing too much information about the cast's past and they're wrapping up storylines too quickly in order to get more screen time for the new female co-stars.

In essence, they've ruined what was once great and fairly unique about this show and have homogenized it to the point where, IMO, it's barely watchable.

JD10367 12-08-2010 02:37 PM

I like the show. The lead is solid, the supporting guys are funny and certainly different, and they've added some titties to the show. Between this show and "Burn Notice", anyone else trying to put on a spy-type show should just not bother.

007 12-08-2010 02:55 PM

I've enjoyed season two so far but definitely don't like that they abandoned the previous seasons plot. The boss chick, I thought, would be a good addition but she is more of an annoyance now. I do like the younger girl they added to the cast as she is an interesting character.

Now, the new music of the show just plain stinks though. Why the hell change what was working?

I think adding the rich widow was necessary if they wanted to justify expanding the stories into more expensive operations. My one problem with Indira Varma's character is I was hoping she would be written as smarter and more serious boss. As it is her ditzy (sp) act is a bit annoying.

BTW, who did the intro graphics? It's excellent IMO and he/she should do Bond movies.
