Fescoe's out at KFNS

Bob Fescoe has abruptly left KFNS (590 AM) to return to Kansas City, where he previously worked.

"I left 590 to be closer to family,'' he said. "My wife supported me for three years and with the birth of our daughter I felt it was time to move closer to our family. I appreciate everything (management) did for me and I thoroughly enjoyed working for KFNS."

Fescoe arrived in 2007 to replace Jim Hayes on KFNS' morning show but met an immediate roadblock. Tim McKernan, leader of the show, was upset by the firing of Hayes and earlier the loss of partner Martin Kilcoyne, and never was comfortable with Fescoe. McKernan eventually left for KSLG (1380 AM) and Fescoe was fired at the end of 2007, although he continued to do some part-time work before being rehired a few months later after Kevin Slaten was fired. Since then he worked with several hosts in afternoons, but the combos never clicked in the ratings.

Fescoe was opinionated and worked hard to learn the market, a place tough for outsiders to crack, so it's too bad he never had a strong pairing that meshed. He easily could have fared much better.

Not sure where they'd put him. Too bad for him he thought he was better than he was. Would really suck to leave town for the bigger market and have to come back home with your tail between your legs to work for the B Team (610).

Isn't that old bastard only on once a week? I wouldn't be able to stand Fescoe for much more. He's 610 material. Actually he'd be an upgrade to their lineup. Couldn't make them any worse.

I always liked Fescoe. Glad he's coming back. Hopefully to 810.

Rumor is that Twibell is out at 610...his contract wasn't renewed. Looks like Bob is headed to 610.

Asked tough questions? No, they took the PC as an opportunity to grill Glass about scapegoating Baird.

I don't have a problem with anybody blasting Glass, and I actually kind of commend them in hindsight. But it was supposed to be Moore's day and they really kind of fucked it up.

It's Official...Bob takes over mornings on 610 Monday, January 4th.

But, unless I'm remembering incorrectly, Glass had never made himself available to discuss the mishandling of Baird's removal.

Twibell is horrible. Fescoe's no prize either, but still, that's an upgrade.

Twibell's the worst of the bunch, IMO. I get the feeling he's still pissed off that Carl was canned... but more importantly... he's just painfully boring.

St. John on 810 is 100 times more entertaining. (I usually end up switching between him and Johnny Dare on 98.9 on the drive to work in the morning.)

I listen to 810 when driving to work cause of stjohn and bukaty. Roger is blaaaaaaaaaaahh

If I leave late enough in the morning to pick up the signal on 1510, I listen to Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio. They are 1000 times better than the local crap we have to listen to.

The Mike & Mike Show is even better when Eric Kuselias is guest host. I may have to pony up for XM Radio so that I can listen to ESPN Radio all the time.

If you can find the money its soooooo worth it.

I've emailed some of the guys at 610 about how sucky Twibell is. I won't say which ones, but more than one have emailed me back basically saying they agree.

Dude, it's 10 bucks for just the I-net version and you can get it on your phone. No need to buy the hardware. Greatest thing to ever happen to my radio/phone.
