Proud Dad Moment

Last night, I set up my daughters and wife with "Julie & Julia" up in our bedroom, and then told my son that he and I could watch something a little better suited to our tastes in the living room.

We got comfortable, and I flicked on the tail end of some bowl game, and this slightly sad 8-year-old voice spoke to me from the couch, "Daddy, you said we could watch something with machine guns, explosions, and dismembered bodies?".

On some level, I know I'm succeeding as a father.

Sounds like he wanted to watch the Texas Bowl with Navy killing Mizzou.

Well done, Dad.

My son won't watch a movie or play a video game unless it involves blowing up something...

And he thinks the villains on the Die Hards are wimps...

I got our daughter a "Maverick" Nerf dart gun for X-Mas. She is usually all girly, girly and stuff. Now, she is becoming an expert tactician at setting up ambush missions on my wife and I. She also wants the huge battery powered machine gun model now. I guess that could be considered progress. She does need to work on hiding the giggle outbursts that many times compromise her hiding spots, but it is coming along. Hahaha.

He's sitting beside me watching "Monster Bug Wars", where various crawlies eat each other with scientific commentary. I think I'll pass on District 9 for him. Language is a little harsh. His mother draws a line there.

Only thing better would've been if he'd said "something with boobies and poontang". :thumb:

ummmmm....why is there some success in this? No offense, Braincase or the rest of you, but I would definitely cry if my daughter cared more about watching violent movies than football.

Jilly, there weren't any football games on at the time. He starts at OG/DT on his youth football team.
