Charles: "I'll get it another time"
From Yahoo's write up of the game:
Then, Charles ended all doubt with his long TD, which put him in striking distance of the NFL’s single-game rushing record of 296 yards set by Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson in 2007 against San Diego. Instead, Charles encouraged coach Todd Haley to get seldom-used Javarris Williams(notes) some work. “I could have (gone) back into the game, but I just went up to the coach (and said) I’m satisfied right now. I’ll get it some other time,” Charles said. |
Classy.

It's all Haley's fault

Right on.

Wow. That's either super classy, or he was just plain gassed. Who knows when he'll get that close again.
|
I hope he does too.

*Joe Delaney proudly smiles from on high*

That's pretty cool, and I sure hopes he gets another chance at it.

Ehh, I think I'll go with "super classy"... |
Eh I understand its classy but with this team anytime you can claim a record I say we should go for it.

Charles JUST turned 23 years old a few days ago.
It's scary to think what he's gonna be in 3 years. |

Yeah. It might be half the season before he gets to play the Broncos again. |
What a performance today. He is one tough SOB. That said, we do need to make sure and get him some relief from time to time.
Serious bromance evolving. |

One of the things to actually like about him. He's not a complete numbskull when it comes to offensive football. |
Charles ran off the field when the game was over...RAN off the field. I believe him when he says he could've kept going. The guy had an epic game and couldn't have come at a better time.

I had to.... ROFLROFLROFL But yeah I agree. Haley washes Charles' balls in press conferences and shit so Im sure he wants Charles to have as long a career as possible. He'll get someone to compliment him. |

How many good years did we get out of LJ? |
I rather like texas running backs

The nice thing about Charles is....A) it's clear he's too small to take a career-ending load and B) he avoids contact well enough that he'll last longer.
|
Just wanted to say. To all of you who argued with me, that starting Charles would make no difference in our running game..You Were Wrong!

That's not classy, it's stupid. If you have a chance to set an NFL record (and not the kind KC has been setting - lowest sacks, most dropped passes, etc.,) you go for the record. Better yet, you get it against one of the teams biggest rivals.

Refreshing to say the least. I don't think LJ would have said any thing like that.

Hootie is now officially rooting against Charles.
|
There's extended quotes from Charles on ESPN saying he didn't want to go back in because the Broncos had given up and he'd want to break the record in a competitive situation, not just trying to pad his yards.
|
Would have been nice to see him get it but also nice to know that he'll get it another time.
:) |
what a badass.
|
Very classy! :thumb:
Stark contrast from Mr. everything is about me, diaper cakin boy. |

So is that what he really said or is that what the PR dept told Charles to say because Haley had other plans in mind??? Nobody knows.
