Could Jamaal Charles make us "forget" about Priest?

Priest is Superman in this town. But, if the Chiefs improve the O-line, and with Charles breakaway speed ( which Priest never had ), he could really challenge Priest's status in KC. Jamaal has the ability to lead the NFL in TD runs of more than 50 yards in 2010. If he gets into the open, he's gone. Priest could never do that. My only fear is that Charles must stay healthy. We need a big RB to help shoulder the load with Charles. Or, maybe the FBs we currently have, Castille and Cox, can be that bruising RB to pair with Charles.

Mr_Tomahawk 01-04-2010 09:32 AM

Regardless of what JC accomplishes....I will never forget Priest.

tyton75 01-04-2010 09:32 AM

never.. Priest was a special player and an awesome guy

Mr. Laz 01-04-2010 09:33 AM

who?

Frazod 01-04-2010 09:33 AM

No, but hopefully he'll make us forget about that piece of shit Johnson.

It's just a figure of speach. It doesn't mean our memories would be washed of any memory of Priest. Come on man! Don't be a literalist! :)

MMXcalibur 01-04-2010 09:36 AM

Cakn at 2.7 a pop, LJ would have to carry the ball 96 times to match what Charles did on Sunday against the Donks.

I think FB Castille made us forget about LJ. It doesn't take much.

"forget"

note the quotes...

rockymtnchief 01-04-2010 09:38 AM

I wont forget Priest. He was smooth and patient, but not fast. But, it won't break my heart if Charles breaks his records.

Dallas Chief 01-04-2010 09:41 AM

I was just thinking about how much the past few weeks have reminded me of the days when the Chiefs "discovered" they had something special in Priest Holmes. It felt so good to watch Jamaal go off like that against the Donks. It was worth having to sit throught the rest of this awful season, IMHO.

TheGuardian 01-04-2010 09:46 AM

Well at least we can all agree we'd alright with Charles breaking Priest's record for career yards rushing for this franchise. I think, barring injury, he'll do that fairly quickly.

Crown his a$$.

I believe JC is a truly special player but we need someone to take some weight off of him. We can't trot him out every game and ask him to grind it out when we are nursing a lead. He's got to be able to rest for some games during the season.

We need another strong RB to both back him up and give him rest.

I'd hate to think how bad our defense would be without him.

Cincy isn't a sub-par defense and he still put over 100 on them...behind an average offensive line.

BTW...some of us didn't think the Steeler game was a turn-around point for this team. I still had many concerns and doubts.

Anyway, I think the kid has something special going on. Barring injury, I think he'll be a star in the NFL.

No. Priest is PRIEST. He will ALWAYS be # 1.

ForeverChiefs58 01-04-2010 10:33 AM

just wait until the first game he doesn't get 100 yards people will start saying he is done, washed up, blame it on Pioli for not trading him when he could have gotten a bargain 5th, or blame it on damnit carl!

RedDread 01-04-2010 10:36 AM

Priest kept himself clean off the field (aside from some baby mama drama), Charles would have to be a stand up guy as well as a great RB to supplant Holmes.

He has better physical skills, can he match Priest's vision, patience and character?

Deberg_1990 01-04-2010 10:38 AM

I forgot about Priest 2 or 3 years ago....after his Carl Peterson PR "Comeback"

I'll never forget Priest, but it would be cool if Jamaal broke all of Priest's records because we drafted him.

ForeverChiefs58 01-04-2010 11:03 AM

Yeah, but can he make me forget about Herm!

Really, one good game? He had five games with over 100 yards rushing, and he had another game against San Diego where had 160 yards from scrimmage and 93 rushing yards at 6.6 yards per carry. He finished at 5.9 yards per carry, by the far the highest of any back with more than 1,000 yards rushing. You are clueless.

DaWolf 01-04-2010 11:39 AM

He's a huge piece of the puzzle, but we need to get some other weapons on offense and not wear the guy down.

Priest was great. Hell, LJ was excellent at one point. I'd like for Charles to last just a bit longer than either of those guys.

If Jamaal makes us forget Priest, and Albert continues to progress, it will sure make the Jared Allen trade a bit easier to swallow...

GloryDayz 01-04-2010 11:40 AM

Priest who? I guess the answer is yes...

I'll always love Priest... but I see what you're getting at, and yeah... I think JC has the potential.

The key is staying healthy, as you said. Soon D's will start planning around JC specifically. He's not always going to have huge games. But he appears to be special and has the potential to be great. He just has to stay healthy, and continue to be a class act.

I'm routing for him. Big time.

Micjones 01-04-2010 12:01 PM

I sincerely doubt it. Priest was pretty special.
He's got a long way to go.

Is Jamal good at eating Nachos like Priest? That is the only way Jamal could make me forget about Priest.
