I found the KC Star message board in 2001 when I joined. I thought it was the greatest thing on earth because I had never seen a Chiefs forum that well-populated.

Then someone directed me to this place. Holy shit. How anyone apart from touchy-feely dicktards who don't like getting their feelings hurt can say that Chiefsplanet is not the greatest Chiefs forum on the internet, I'll never know.

We just have too many off topic posts for some people, but we sure are a lot busier than almost every site above us.

I find it very funny that wildbillschiefs.com is ranked so high on this guys list. That site is hardly ever updated.

Not really. ChiefsPlanet is quite possibly greatest site within the tubes. If that reviewer cannot realize that, then that is his problem.

Maybe it's wild bill that ranked the sites? :shrug:

IDK. But I don't think any of those are even close to being with chiefsplanet. The second closest should be arrowheadpride.com though. They do a really great job everyday of bringing out new info. Anybody that doesn't like CP, I would refer them to arrowheadpride.

Because it's the only site on that list that's an actual online community. The posters (not the people, mind you, but the posters) have recognizable personalities that come out and mix with other personalities. It's awesome.

Also, every single Chiefs thread I've seen from those other websites is always reeruned shit like, "Do you think Kolby Smith can do a good job on Sunday against the Raiders?" or "What about our first rounder? Should we draft Tebow?"

We have the most site traffic of any of those websites combined, like Austin said. Off topic posts are going to happen. We can't have the thousands of posts per day that we do and keep it all football related. There's just no way.

The KCStar had a forum that was probably the best forum, but it was outdated(people liked it that way). One day about a year and a half ago, they decided to upgrade everything. People from the old Star forum didn't like it and decided to create a new forum that looked exactly like the outdated Star forum. Radrhtr was the person who created it.

I used to be on the old Star forum. Someone linked me to this forum about a month before the star forum got shut down and I've been here ever since. I like the freedom of this forum much better than other chiefs forum. People are more outspoken and you can literally talk about anything.

But, if I ranked them, I'd still put this site behind WPI because everyone knows WPI has the best insiders....

I hate forums that just talk about the game and the players. You don't get to know the posters that way. This forum is focused on everything, you get to know people and you get to know Chiefs news. A one stop shop.

Like anyone reads the star anymore anyways.

Let's see,hmmm. The people who founded Chiefs planet and all the original members got into a heated situation with the moderator of the old KC Star chiefs BB over censorship. They pretty much told them to flip off. Somehow I don't see Chiefs Planet ever getting any pub from the Star or their writers.

I thought the NEPA site would be #1.

Of course, I'm going to put Arrowhead Pride at the top but this board is easily #2 on that list of sites. I've been consistently reading Chiefs Planet for years now and consider it a valuable source of Chiefs opinion.

And the whole community aspect is a big part of what keeps me coming back.

I'd hazard a guess that the best one is the one with 1 million posts and over 9,000 members.

I'm the other Arrowhead Pride editor and ChiefsPlanet is my second stop for Chiefs talk.

CP is great. Been reading for a few years now.

That is exactly why we run it the way we do. And this forum was started as a group leaving the really old KC Star forum, lol.

That list is pretty terrible. I wont hate though. I used to realy enjoy the Coalition, but once the Chiefs started losing bad. Folks just jumped off the bandwagon big time. It has hurt alot of Chiefs sites though. Even this one a little bit. It used to be much more active in our offensive days.

If Chiefsplanet were to suddenly cease to exist, I wouldn't even bother with trying to find a replacement. There is no substitute. And there isn't even one site that is even in it's class that we could have a serious conversation about being comparable.

That hurts. I'm leaving.

I am surprised Chiefscrowd is not on that list. They aren't too bad. I would probably put them 3rd on the list.

3000 is actually a slow day, 6800 posts is a busy day and that is just over the last month.

Any site with halfwit as a mod can not possibly be all that good.

Similar page views, 25,000 visits/day....we averaged I think around 1,000 comments/day over the last year (looking at some yearly stats we just did)...I imagine over the last 6 months that number is closer to 2,000/day.

It's a homer site full of people puffing each other up. I just signed in, and every thread I opened has it.

I don't read the comments and such, I save reading comments for here. But they are similar to arrowheadpride in which they update pretty regularly and try to keep if fresh with new things to talk about.

I imagine your page views are very high because of all the comments (refreshing)...we went to auto-refreshing comments which is nice for the user on gameday threads but bad for page views).

I was at WBC a few years back and there just wasn't enough activity. In the year I've been here, I vastly prefer ChiefsPlanet for not just updated Chiefs news, but for the variety and activity.

It's just one guys opinion. No way any of those can touch the traffic on here.

Whens the last time the KC Star broke any Chief news? I'm just a fan but, I've broke more news on here than the multi million $ enterprise. They are a pathetic old school paper on its last legs.

We ended up with a little over a million posts last year, so our average ppd for the entire year was about 2875. During the season, average went up to more like 3000 per day, and for some reason, January is always one of our busiest months, so we've been even higher than that the past few weeks.

Page views is kind of a weird statistic here since we have people refreshing pages all the time. According to Google Analytics, we've had 2,663,044 page views and 234,620 visits in the past month, but like I said, that probably doesn't mean much. Probably a better stat for us is active users per day. That typically runs around 900 or so.

If you're really curious for other gory details, do a search for my "random chiefsplanet stats" thread. There's lots of info in there. And feel free to ask if there's something else you're curious about. I've always had a "power to the people" mentality around here, so if you want to know some stat, I'll see if I can find it.

i think that is the main appeal i have to this place. i love the chiefs, and love the football discussion here, but for me its about being able to post about my problems with todd haley, and on the same site, bitch about obama. i don't have to go from board to board for different topics. i'll admit, the planet is not for everyone. for example, if you're offended by someone telling you to die in a fire, or run into an aids tree, you probably aren't going to fit in here. i, however, think this site is not only the best chiefs site, but the best site on the whole internet. who ever came up with that list probably has been threatened with anti freeze.
